    Halloween Lecture

York · York Public Library, 15 Long Sands Rd

    Free

A Halloween-themed talk at York Public Library highlights two real-life investigations drawn from Rob’s books. At the Hunt Memorial Library in Nashua, New Hampshire, Rob and Monique Toosoon worked alongside other investigators and members of the public, reporting three spirits not tied to the building’s past. Their efforts brought to light a concealed romance, secret rendezvous, the presence of a teenager lost in an accident, and paintings that seemed to hold lingering energy. The second account turns to Linville Manor in Maryland, described as the state’s most haunted house, where Rob identified several spirits, including one believed to remain after a wrongful accusation. The presentation also touches on the manor’s history and recounts a range of unusual experiences reported by visitors. This program is free and open to the public.

A Night of Stand-Up with Eddie Pepitone

Kittery · The Dance Hall, 7 Walker St

Known as the Bitter Buddha, comedian Eddie Pepitone unleashes a set that swings from blistering social tirades to moments of uneasy self-reflection. The result is a high-voltage blend of calm and turbulence, blue-collar frustration and sly, hard-won clarity. His path began in New York City’s improv and sketch scene, led to recurring appearances on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and includes roles on The Life and Times of Tim, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Sarah Silverman Program, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Last Comic Standing, Chappelle’s Show, Bob’s Burgers, and Adult Swim’s Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell. On screen he appears in Old School and the award-winning short Runyon: Just Above Sunset, co-written with his wife Karen Simmons. He also stays busy on Twitter and Instagram, hosts the Pep Talks podcast, and contributes to the web series Puddin’. The evening is hosted by Rebecca Donohue, a comedian, writer, and producer with appearances on Comedy Central, VH1, and more. She earned a USO Tour slot for the US Navy through the Boston Comedy Festival and has performed in 30 states. Her writing on the Discovery+ series Book of Queer received an Emmy nomination, and her produced digital series I Want My Stuff Back earned an Emmy nomination as well. She currently creates originals and develops talent for The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz, a top 10 comedy-sports program in the United States. This show includes adult language and mature material, so parental discretion is strongly advised. Kittery · The Dance Hall, 7 Walker St

Nut/Cracked flips The Nutcracker on its head, recasting the classic as a percussive romp where Tchaikovsky meets Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, and others. Tap, singing, and playful pointe shoe surprises turn the sugar coated ballet into rhythm based dance theater. No tradition is off limits, creating an ode to American eclecticism that celebrates the human impulse to dance, swept along by Tchaikovsky’s generous waves of rhythm. The Bang Group, a theatrical dance company based in New York City, tours extensively across the United States and Europe. The company previously performed Nut/Cracked at The Dance Hall in 2016, and this humorous take is delivered by an ensemble of highly trained artists.
