Teams race to be the quickest to finish, with prizes for the fastest groups and additional door prizes along the way. Every team keeps the puzzle they compete on, and the atmosphere is family friendly. Each table receives the same puzzle hidden from view until a countdown begins. Once the timer starts, boxes open and the building begins while a judge oversees the contest and records finish times. After completing the puzzle, teams may depart or stay to work on another one and enjoy a beer. Eating and drinking are allowed during the competition. Box top holders and sorting trays are permitted. Battery powered extra lighting is welcome as long as it does not affect other participants and does not need to be plugged in. Interfering with or distracting other teams is not allowed.
