Come meet Mata, a four-year-old Maine Coon mix cat from The Bond Between, as kids take turns reading to him for 15 minutes. You can bring your own book or choose one from the store to read. This is part of the Community Animal Visit program, where Mata volunteers his kitty hours to help brighten days at nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

Join this week-long STEM day camp for youth exploring science in nature through hands-on experiments and activities. Each day includes both traditional day camp programming and specialty STEM sessions focused on a specific topic. Check-in runs from 8:30 to 9:00 AM and activities run until the 4:00 to 4:30 PM check-out window, with a Friday closing ceremony at 4:00 PM. Playmaker College Day Basketball Camp is for incoming 7th through 11th grade players (and coaches) and runs as a full-day training program at Hopkins West Junior High. The camp goes Monday through Friday, with daily classroom, video, and on-court gym sessions. Camp hours are 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with check-in on the first day from 8:25 AM to 8:50 AM. Parents can also come for the closing wrap-up on the final day at 1:30 PM.

Each session looks at how great escape rooms are designed, then participants put that knowledge to work by crafting original puzzles and props. By the end, teams trade and take on one another’s custom-built rooms filled with clever traps, unexpected twists, and brain-teasing challenges. It is a playful mix of creativity, collaboration, and engineering for campers who love to build, experiment, and beat the clock.

A free lakeside summer concert unfolds at Excelsior Commons Park by Lake Minnetonka, with The Suburbs headlining and an opening set from Monica Livorsi.
