The Betsy-Tacy Houses reopen for the public tour season with a birthday celebration for Maud. Guests can explore Betsy’s House at their own pace, with a kid-friendly scavenger hunt to add extra fun. Tacy’s House features browsing and shopping along with tasty refreshments. A hands-on craft using colored sand invites creativity, and, weather permitting, some activities take place outdoors. At scheduled moments there is a reading from the “sand store” chapter of Betsy-Tacy and a short set of period songs performed by a local trio. The celebration concludes with a rousing chorus of Happy Birthday for Maud, honoring the cherished author and her enduring message about friendship.

Celebrate Mayday at 410 Project with a hands-on creative session dedicated to making puppets that reflect community joy, resilience, and self-expression. Use the supplies on hand or bring favorite materials from home. Available options include assorted papers, sticks, string, fabric, paints, yarn, colored pencils, markers, pastels, cardboard, and tag board. The gathering is free and welcomes participants of every age.
