Southern Minnesota Regional Science & Engineering Elementary Fair

Celebrating its 75th year, the Southern Minnesota Regional Science & Engineering Elementary Fair invites students in grades 3 through 6 to showcase their curiosity and creativity at Minnesota State University, Mankato - Myers Field House. Last year featured more than 400 projects presented by 450 students from over 30 schools, and organizers hope to see participation grow even further. Students from public, private, online, and homeschool settings are all eligible, and no previous science fair experience is needed. Saturday Stride & Stroll

Saturday Stride & Stroll is a free, family-friendly gathering for strollers, walkers, and runners of every pace. Routes are planned at about three miles, and participants can choose to go a shorter or longer distance. Formerly known as the Saturday Group Run, the event promotes an active lifestyle and welcomes people of all abilities, including those who do not consider themselves runners. It is a social and inclusive outing that suits the whole family. Leashed dogs are allowed. Complimentary refreshments include snacks and coffee, with hot chocolate and tea available during colder weather. It takes place every Saturday in any conditions, whether rain, shine, sleet, or snow, unless otherwise noted.

Bloom Within - Mini Spring Retreat

Ease into spring with a half-day retreat that weaves mindful movement, creative expression, and soothing sound into a single restorative experience. Start with Pilates centered on the breath with Lisa Finch, Certified Pilates Instructor, to cultivate gentle strength, alignment, and embodied presence. Continue with a guided art therapy session led by Jess Waldron, Certified Art Therapist, using intuitive creation to set intentions and explore personal insight. Conclude with a meditative sound bath with Heather Paulson, Director of HIC, Certified NLP Life Coach and Sound Integration Specialist, inviting resonance and quiet to bring the work of body, mind, and spirit into harmony. The focus is on releasing winter’s heaviness and welcoming a sense of renewal for the season ahead. Attendance is limited to maintain an intimate, supportive environment. Saturday Morning Workout Class @ Flex

Take part in a 45-minute group workout at Flex Fitness led by Fit & Grit’s certified personal trainer, Coach Matt. The session welcomes all fitness levels, with clear modifications provided so you can train comfortably and confidently. 2026 Art Brunch Fundraiser: Art Deco

Celebrate the elegance of Art Deco at The Carnegie’s third annual brunch fundraiser, an arts-focused gathering that channels the energy of the Roaring Twenties with jazz era flair and nods to flapper style. Stride Color Run

His Star Wars Collection with Wally Boyer Hybrid Program

Wally Boyer shares insights into his Star Wars collection in a sit-down history program offered in a hybrid format. Portions of the collection are on view at the History Center. Attend in person at the History Center or participate live via Zoom from anywhere. If watching live is not possible, registrants can receive a recording to view for up to a week after the program. In-person admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $5 for BECHS members. Online participation is $10 per household and requires advance registration. Registration opens two weeks before the program and closes on the day it takes place.

Bingo and Meat Raffle

Wings over West Skyline

A brief, 15 to 30 minute introduction at the West Skyline Spring Count explores the spring migration and how the counting effort tracks it. Participants hear why both spring count sites lie on the west side of Skyline Parkway rather than the east side at Hawk Ridge, how the spring effort differs from the fall, and which species tend to appear in greater numbers during spring. Programs take place at the site chosen for the day, either the pull off below Enger Tower along West Skyline Parkway or the stretch below the Minnesota Welcome Center at Thompson Hill. This program is free and open to all ages, no registration required, with a suggested $5 donation to support ongoing programming.

Yin Yoga

Settle into an unhurried, contemplative Yin Yoga session designed to reach the body's deep connective tissues such as fascia, ligaments, and joints. With the help of supportive props, each posture is held for about 3 to 5 minutes to invite stillness and heighten inner awareness. Over the course of 60 minutes, the practice aims to increase flexibility, support joint health, and soothe the nervous system. Open to all levels. No prior experience is required. Single class pricing is $15, and existing punchcards or a summer unlimited pass may be used.

3rd Annual Dutch Harnitz Memorial Freestyle/Greco-Roman Combo Wrestling Tournament

The 3rd annual Dutch Harnitz Memorial wrestling tournament brings freestyle and Greco-Roman competition together at Mankato East High School. Matches are organized in both styles with separate divisions for boys and girls. All athletes must complete online registration in advance, as walk-up entries are not accepted, and a current USA Wrestling membership card is required. The event is also seeking volunteers to help with admissions, table work, concessions, and other support roles.

70's Sitcom Bingo Fundraiser for A Fresh Start

Get set for a groovy afternoon of 70s sitcom themed bingo at WOW!Zone, all in support of A Fresh Start. Expect ten rounds with plenty of chances to win prizes while contributing to the organization’s work in the community. Each weekly gathering begins with breathwork, meditation, or another grounding practice to settle the nervous system and create a sense of safety. A concise teaching follows on rotating spiritual themes such as energy hygiene and boundaries, self-trust and intuition, connecting with the higher self, moving from fear to empowerment, cultivating conscious and sacred self talk, and co-creating with spiritual guidance. A guided sharing circle then offers space to speak openly without attempts to fix, judge, or compete, with attentive presence in place of solutions. Shortcut to Summer FREE 6-Week Challenge

All-Star Nutrition Mankato presents a free six week Shortcut to Summer challenge that rewards body composition progress while giving back to the local community. Participants track results on the InBody scale and can earn $5 in store credit for every pound of muscle gained and for each percentage point of body fat reduced, while All-Star Nutrition donates $1 to Mankato Youth Place for those same improvements. MAMB Tuesday Night Gravel

MAMB hosts a relaxed gravel cruise that rolls from the Nicollet Bike parking lot after the A and B groups set out. Expect a mix of gravel and pavement with a bit of light trail riding. It is a no-drop outing, so no one is left behind. The typical pace is about 12 to 14 mph and the distance is around 20 miles. The route is chosen at the start based on weather and rider abilities. Gravel bikes, mountain bikes, and other mixed-surface bicycles are welcome.

All My Relatives | Mini Workshop Series

At the Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota, a 14-week mini workshop series invites children ages 7 to 12 to explore Indigenous learning with a special focus on Dakota traditions. Sessions blend artmaking, storytelling, games, traditional knowledge, and guided activities that nurture creativity, curiosity, and respect. Families are welcome to take part in any single week or the full series. Themes across the series include forest animals, dance regalia, beading, traditional tools, Indigenous games, star quilts, dreamcatchers, lodges, sacred foods, buffalo lifeways, drums, seasonal calendars, gardens, and ledger art. Participants may handle replica tools, design patterns, build small models, plant seeds, create original artwork, and learn about the land and its first peoples. Activities emphasize inclusivity, learning, and joy for young explorers who appreciate culture and nature. The series is sponsored by Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Elementary Education program, with support from the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council made possible by Minnesota voters through the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Community partners include the College of Education at Minnesota State University, Mankato, Blue Earth County Public Library, and Blue Earth County Historical Society. An in-store LEGO building activity inspired by Star Wars takes place at Barnes & Noble. It is designed with builders age 10 and up in mind, and all guests are welcome. Attendance is first come.

Kids May Day

Celebrate May Day with a hands-on activity for children. Kids can create a May Day basket, decorate a pot, plant it, and bring their project home, plus select a packet of seeds to start their own garden. The event takes place at the host farm and will proceed regardless of weather, with time outdoors if conditions allow. Registration is available through the farm’s website.

Underworld Exhibit: Atonement

Underworld Exhibit: Atonement unfolds across Carnegie Art Center and Mecca Tattoo, focusing on atonement with an emphasis on reckoning and renewal. Designed for all ages, the celebration begins above ground as a street closure makes room for a May Day gathering with music, food, baskets for May Day, and a bright burst of spring. After the outdoor festivities, attention shifts below as collaborative installations occupy the lower levels of both venues... an immersive journey into an underworld setting that contemplates reflection, consequence, and repair. Find items for meat processing and canning, reloading, duck hunting apparel alongside Real tree hunting clothing, an air fryer and assorted household essentials, plus shooting and hunting supplies with a shooting bench. You will also see camp stoves and sleeping bags, electronics, and 4-by-8 fencing panels for cattle or hogs.

Kids' Bike Day

At Key City Bike, families can browse for a used bike and learn how the organization supports the Mankato community. To help lower barriers to cycling, all kids bikes with wheels 20 inches and smaller are available with sliding scale donations. Contributions are encouraged to sustain the program and each person is asked to consider personal circumstances when deciding an amount, but a donation is not required to receive a bike. Availability is on a first-come basis and selection is limited. A limited selection of adult bikes will also be for sale. Tours of the shop and information about programs will be offered, and anyone interested may choose to become a member in support of a mission centered on recycling, reclaiming, and empowerment. Key City Bike hosts an annual celebration that kicks off the riding season and highlights community, art, and bicycle advocacy while supporting the shop’s programs and day-to-day operations. A dedicated group of roughly 20 to more than 30 volunteer bakers prepares a wide range of homemade treats including cookies, bars, breads, cupcakes, and dog treats, so there is something for many tastes. Non-food items are also available, providing additional ways to contribute. Proceeds help cover medical care, food, and enrichment for animals in need. Attendees can meet Terri, the Small Animal Coordinator and board member, to learn about opportunities to get involved through volunteering, fostering, or other support. Payments are accepted by cash, check, and Venmo. Items are first come, first served and tend to go quickly. Those unable to attend can still help by sharing the event or visiting another month.

The tenth anniversary of Beer, Brats & Bourbon touches down at Mankato Regional Airport. Proceeds support efforts that serve food-insecure students in grades K through 12, helping provide well-balanced meals to more than 1,200 local youth during the summer months.

Skate into Summer with MFSC

Mankato Figure Skating Club hosts a summer camp featuring guest coaches Surya Bonaly, an Olympian, and Peter, a coach and choreographer. Designed for skaters from Pre-Preliminary through Gold, the program blends on ice and off ice training to develop skills, elevate performance, and build confidence. Participants can choose a single day or two day format, along with a Learn to Skate option. Space is limited.

Mankato Area Community Band Concert 5

The Mankato Area Community Band presents its fifth summer concert with a program of patriotic selections at Lincoln Park at the Boy in Blue Statue. Admission is free and open to all, and each performance features a new set of music each week. If weather conditions are severe, rainy, or under a heat advisory, the concert will move to Minnesota State University, Mankato, in the Elias J. Halling Recital Hall. Appreciation is extended to attendees and regional arts supporters, including the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council. This activity receives support through the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council with funding from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund made possible by Minnesota voters.

Bike.Build.Home.500

Now in its fourth year, Bike.Build.Home 500 is a fully supported five day cycling event hosted in Mankato, Minnesota by Habitat for Humanity of South Central Minnesota and guided by a volunteer steering committee of Habitat 500 veterans. Cyclists can complete the full 500 kilometer route over five days, choose single day participation, or ride virtually. The event features a Build Day and a Century Ride, and there are opportunities for volunteers to take part. Fundraising is encouraged, with a minimum of 500 dollars for five day riders and 100 dollars per day for single day riders, and volunteers are welcome to fundraise as well. Participants may direct their support to any affordable housing organization, including Habitat affiliates or other housing nonprofits. Registration includes overnight lodging at Bethany Lutheran College, with dorm rooms or camping available. Breakfast and dinner are provided each day, and daily routes typically range from 50 to 70 miles. In 2025, riders raised 175,000 dollars for affordable housing.
