Submission Challenge brings an open-invite, submission-only gi and no-gi jiu-jitsu tournament to Branson RecPlex. Competitors include kids, teens, and adults, with men’s and women’s divisions starting at age 4 and options for first-time participants. Bouts follow a modified EBI ruleset for youth, teen, and adult brackets, with EBI-style overtime used if no submission is secured. Matches can be decided by submission, overtime criteria, opponent disqualification, or forfeiture, and medals are awarded for first, second, and third place. The event uses a double-elimination format to maximize opportunities to compete, and divisions may be combined when necessary to create viable brackets. Competitor lists are visible throughout registration so athletes can verify their entries. If a competitor is left without a match after brackets are finalized, a full event credit is provided for a future Submission Challenge. Early bird registration is $79 for one division and $99 for two, with absolute divisions at $40. Standard registration is $99 for one division and $129 for two, with absolute divisions at $60. Honors followed, including induction with the Statler Brothers into the GMA Hall of Fame and the CMA Hall of Fame, and later his solo induction into the Virginia Musical Hall of Fame. After the Statler Brothers retired in 2002, Fortune launched a solo career with releases such as When One Door Closes, I Believe, Feels Like Christmas, a live concert DVD, Windows, Lessons, and Hits and Hymns through Gaither Music Group.
