A GriefShare support group for those mourning the death of a loved one meets at Headwaters Covenant Church. Each weekly session includes a video featuring insights from experienced grief counselors and real-life stories, followed by a supportive time to share and receive care. Topics cover what is normal in grief, how to handle difficult emotions, and practical steps for addressing regrets, questions, and worries. Please note that the associated Facebook group is not managed by GriefShare or Church Initiative, and all discussion and content are provided by the group admin.

Spring Ice Skating Show

44th Annual Helena Railroad Fair

At the Helena Civic Center, the 44th Annual Helena Railroad Fair brings together as many as 200 tables featuring railroad items such as tinplate, toy trains, scale models, railroad collectibles, and operating layouts. Admission is $5, and children under 12 are free.

Mom & Me Tea

Celebrate mothers with a family friendly tea gathering at The Painted Pot. This all ages event encourages creativity across generations as kids and adults enjoy time together. Dine for a Cause: Helena & Capital Speech & Debate Nationals

A Dine for a Cause at Windbag Saloon benefits Helena and Capital High Speech and Debate students who qualified for the National Speech and Debate Tournament in Richmond, Virginia. Twelve local students earned the chance to compete and are raising funds for travel and lodging. During the fundraiser, dine-in and carryout orders at Windbag Saloon generate a 20 percent donation from each bill to help send these students to Nationals. Proceeds support Helena and Capital Speech and Debate as they prepare to represent Montana at the national level.

Monday Night Pencil Holder Clay Workshop

Lakeside Bar hosts a Kentucky Derby Calcutta featuring an auction where participants bid on Derby horses for a share of the prize pool. In addition, 1 percent of the total pot supports the Lewis & Clark Humane Society.

Suicide Bereavement Peer Support

This drop-in peer support group is for people who have experienced the death of someone by suicide. It offers a space to connect with others who share a similar loss. Participants are asked to arrive at the beginning and remain for the full session.

Helena GRIP Training: First Aid & CPR

Gain essential skills in adult First Aid and CPR, with instruction that covers the basics of caring for open wounds and the core techniques of CPR. Both sections include a written component and a practical, hands-on evaluation to demonstrate understanding. The training follows standards recognized for first responders covered under Good Samaritan law. A separate 2-year recertification option is available and focuses on CPR only.

Technology Classes

Tech Tuesday classes meet in the Sarah McCabe Power Community Room on the second and fourth Tuesdays each month. There is no charge and all are welcome, but advance registration is required.

Early Explorers

Designed for preschoolers and their caregivers, this interactive science program blends playful discovery with guided activities led by experienced educators. It is geared to children ages 0 to 5 and encourages curiosity through engaging, age-appropriate exploration. Admission is free for members, and non-members may attend with regular paid admission. Space is limited and offered on a first come, first served basis.

Kids Day!

HYSA 2026 Arsenal Invitational

Youth soccer takes center stage at Siebel Soccer Fields with the HYSA 2026 Arsenal Invitational. The event welcomes select and premier boys and girls teams from U9 to U19, and every team is guaranteed three games. Entry fees are $650 for 7v7 teams, $750 for 9v9, and $850 for 11v11.

Tote Bag Painting

A hands-on craft session focused on painting tote bags takes place in the Small Conference Room at the Lewis & Clark Library. World Migratory Bird Day

Celebrate migratory birds in Helena at a free, family-friendly event featuring guided bird walks, live raptor presentations, build-your-own bird boxes, nature journaling, and creative crafts and activities for kids, with even more to discover. The Last Chance Community Pow Wow and the Lewis and Clark Library Bookmobile will be part of the festivities. The aim is to keep every treadmill in use over a 12-hour stretch while raising $5,000 to fund free programs for individuals and families affected by cancer in the Greater Helena area. Participants can reserve one or more 30-minute sessions to walk, jog, or run in support of this mission. Each step helps deliver connection, education, and hope to people navigating cancer.

Giving Party at The Base Camp

The Base Camp in Helena is hosting a community celebration in support of Greater Helena Gives, highlighting the work of Wild Montana and Girls Thrive. Attendees can meet representatives from both organizations, learn about their missions, and explore ways to get involved and contribute. Paint & Pour Fundraiser

Don't Fence Me In Trail Run

Participation directly supports the mission to preserve and protect the trails and open spaces people cherish.

Altra Demo Day at Don't Fence Me In

Set at the finish line of Prickly Pear Land Trust’s Don’t Fence Me In, this demo showcases Altra trail running footwear. Try on models featuring a zero drop platform and a FootShape toe box, designed to encourage a natural stride and give toes room to move for comfort, balance, and confident performance on the trail. The demo table will have Base Camp swag and high fives. Anyone who slips on a pair during the event will be entered for a chance to win shoes of their own. Whether ending a run or taking in the scene, visitors can explore the gear while celebrating the trails and the people who care for them.

GRAND OPENING OF THE NEW TRACK

The track opens for a weekend of riding open to everyone. Non members pay $30 per day to ride, while members ride at no cost. Camping is free, with optional hookups available for $40 per night. Attendees are expected to pack out all trash and keep the pits clean. There are no gate fees for the weekend.

Helena, MT 2026 3rd Line Hockey Draught Tournament

At Helena Ice Arena, this adult, draft-style ice hockey tournament welcomes coed participation across all skill levels. Teams are selected during a party with some free beers, creating a friendly, social atmosphere from the start. Each player is guaranteed five games and receives a uniquely themed uniform set, including jersey, socks, and shell, to keep. The event also features individual player awards and professional photography to capture the action.

16th Annual Forest Landowner Conference | Montana Forest Stewardship Foundation

Hosted at Carroll College, the 16th Annual Forest Landowner Conference brings together landowners and forestry experts from across the state for a day of learning and conversation. Sessions cover topics such as prescribed fire, forest insects, small scale logging, and related stewardship practices. DNRC specialists will staff a booth and present several talks. Registration is $45 per person and lunch is included. Activities take place in the Campus Center conference rooms downstairs.

SponCon Helena is a collaborative fundraiser supporting Habitat for Humanity and the Rotary Club, centered on transforming reclaimed wood and old hardware into fresh creations. Upcycled materials are supplied, and participants bring the ideas, muscle, and flair to build something original. It welcomes both professional builders and imaginative amateurs who want to put grit and creativity to work and show what reclaimed can become.

Construction Hike for Hope

At Prickly Pear Park, this community hike centers on suicide prevention and mental health in the construction workforce. Citing CDC findings that construction and extraction occupations experience the highest suicide rates in the United States, the initiative works to strengthen well-being on the job through education, intervention and postvention, encouraging and equipping mental health champions in the workplace. The walk offers time to enjoy nature and to reflect on how suicide and mental health conditions have affected our lives and the lives of those we care about. There is no cost to attend.

May Outdoor Art Show

A debut outdoor art show and one-day sale highlights Montana Made crafters, creators, and artists. Discover pieces created for the outdoors, including accents for yards, gardens, and home exteriors, as well as plants and other outdoor items. Set in the Historic 6th Ward, the event takes place in the parking lot, and extra parking is available across the street.

Kick Off Meeting

The Helena Dragon Boat Club will hold a season kick off meeting at Clark’s Bay. Both first-time and returning paddlers are invited, and guests are welcome. The agenda includes an overview of the upcoming season and essential safety information, with snacks and beverages provided.

Helena Trap Club hosts league and doubles make ups, with continental make ups also offered. Doubles make ups span three weeks, followed by the end of the league. Because of an ammo shortage, only enough shells are available for league shooting and no shells will be sold.

This event features Goldy Vox, an eight-member indie pop cover band from Helena, MT. Admission is $10.

Off In The Woods

Off in the Woods, a 7-piece Montana band, will be performing their original music which incorporates elements of Soul, Funk, Reggae, and open-tuned acoustic styles. There is a $5 cover charge for this event. The band features a horn section, drums, bass, guitar, hammond organ, and aux-percussion/synth. The members have been playing together for over 13 years and have played in historic theaters and festivals, and have shared the stage with national and international touring bands.

This in-person support group at Loft Helena is for women and their partners who are experiencing or have experienced infertility, or who have lost a child before, during, or after birth. Chris Scarlett Clinic!

Riders can work with Chris Scarlett, an advanced eventing competitor visiting from California with more than 30 years of teaching and training experience. Her background includes appearances at Burghley, Badminton, Rolex, and Blenheim. Lessons will be offered in dressage, cross-country, and show jumping, with sessions taking place ahead of a mini-event and dressage show. Sign-up information will be shared soon.

Summer Boulder Ride

This annual summer ride invites participants to spend a full day exploring trails. SxS, ATVs, and dirt bikes of any size are welcome, and the routes have no width limits. The staging area offers ample room for trucks and trailers. Weather can turn cold or wet, with the possibility of rain or even snow, so dress accordingly. Bring everything needed for the day, including lunch, and be ready to head out from the parking area with the group.

Clancy Days 2026

Clancy Days celebrates small town heritage and serves as a kickoff to the summer season for the region. The festivities blend long-standing traditions with new favorites. Organizers will share updates as plans come together, with a few surprises along the way. 2026 Boys and Girls State

Hosted at Carroll College, this program from the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary offers a hands-on look at how state government works. Participants step into roles at the city, county, and state levels, operate a mock legislature, draft and introduce bills and resolutions, practice representative government, and elect officials such as the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Secretary of State. Post 46 plans to sponsor at least six students and will cover the $300 registration fee. Interested students should contact Post 46 to be considered and to complete registration. Summer Camp - Seas the Day

At The Painted Pot, this summer camp welcomes school-age artists entering grades 1 through 8 for hands-on creativity in a new medium each day. Lady Bruin Summer Basketball Camp (3rd-9th Grade)

Lady Bruin Summer Basketball Camp welcomes girls entering grades 3 through 9 to build skills, compete, and have fun on the court. 2026 Montana RMEF Rendezvous

The Montana RMEF Rendezvous brings members and volunteers together at Jefferson County Fairgrounds for a weekend featuring a work project, activities for kids, seminars, and a casual wild game cook-off. Campsites with electrical hookups are available, and advance registration with payment is required for those. RV and tent camping are welcome, or attendees can choose lodging in Boulder.
