Wheelin' Into Spring

The 6th Annual Wheelin' Into Spring trail ride, hosted by 7Slot Syndicate and 7Slot Adventure Guides, welcomes families celebrating Father’s Day as well as anyone eager to get some dirt on the tires. Blacktail Wild Bill OHV offers something for every driver, with a main route suitable for stock Jeeps and optional obstacles that challenge highly built rigs. The day begins with an optional breakfast meet-up in Kalispell, followed by staging in a nearby parking lot, a mandatory drivers meeting, and a timely departure for the trail. It is planned as a full-day outing, with a couple of chances to peel off early if needed. Those who continue to the finish will top out on Blacktail Mountain at the former Air Force communication site for sweeping views, then descend toward Lakeside. Pack your own lunch, snacks, and plenty of water. Bring recovery gear if you have it, and expect capable spotters and additional equipment to help keep things safe. GMRS radios are recommended for group communication. As this is a recognized Jeep Badge of Honor trail, have the app ready on your mobile device. Alcohol is not permitted while wheeling. In partnership with Big Sky 4Wheelers, the group will pick up trash along the route and mark larger debris for later removal, aiming to leave the trail better than it was found. Cameras are encouraged for the many photo and video opportunities throughout the day.

Old 97's in the O'Shaughnessy Outdoor Amphitheter

Old 97's appears at the outdoor amphitheater at Wachholz College Center, bringing a landmark alt-country legacy to the Flathead Valley. Formed in Dallas in 1993, the band features vocalist and guitarist Rhett Miller alongside bassist Murry Hammond, guitarist Ken Bethea, and drummer Philip Peeples. Their thirteenth studio album, American Primitive, leans into a gritty, unpolished rock and roll spirit while keeping the vivid storytelling that has defined their work, touching on love, mental health, and the challenges of modern life. Produced by Tucker Martine and captured in fast, instinct-driven sessions at Flora Studio in Portland without pre-production, the record includes contributions from Peter Buck and Scott McCaughey. Its title nods to a line from Stephen King’s Duma Key, and it arrived only months ahead of the 30th anniversary of the band’s debut, Hitchhike to Rhome, a touchstone in the rise of alt-country.
