    Winston-Salem · 226 S Liberty St

MUSE Winston-Salem presents a guided walk marking 250 years of American independence, pairing a two mile route with two hours of storytelling to explore 250 years of Twin City history. This 2 x 2 x 250 Semiquincentennial Stroll moves through MUSEws neighborhood of bridges and railbeds, former farms and factories, monuments and graveyards, with panoramic viewpoints into the city’s past and future. Along the way, the guide highlights pivotal moments in the Camel City story and introduces figures both well known and overlooked, inviting reflection on the next 250 years. The walk concludes inside the museum with a cold drink and light snack, plus an exclusive first look at a mosaic glass mural that once stood at Smith Reynolds Airport and is now newly installed and illuminated at MUSEws. Led by historian and MUSEws executive director Dr. Mike Wakeford, registration includes the two hour tour, a souvenir water bottle for the route, and a post tour beverage and snack. Expect roughly two miles in under two hours along mostly even sidewalks with modest elevation changes on a partially shaded route. The tour takes place rain or shine. Participants are encouraged to bring water. The guide will use amplification, and attendance is capped to support clear audio and time for questions. A liability waiver is required for registrants. Whether you are a longtime local or a newcomer, this stroll offers a welcoming way to connect with the city’s past and imagine its future.
