Those auditioning should prepare a memorized musical selection of 30 to 60 seconds in the style of the show, and bring a playback track on a phone or tablet. Piedmont Wind Symphony in Residence: Salon Solos

An intimate chamber program at Körner’s Folly features members of the Piedmont Wind Symphony performing solo works for winds. The repertoire follows a journey from the elegance of late Romantic parlor pieces to the vibrant rhythms and colors that foreshadow ragtime and early jazz. Expect expressive melodies, technical sparkle, and inventive timbres that reflect a time of swift musical change. The program highlights the early 20th century’s stylistic turn, where syncopation, blues inflections, and rising instruments such as the saxophone shaped solo writing. Composers explored tone color, freer phrasing, and light, descriptive pieces that echoed a modernizing world. Heard up close in a salon setting, these solos reveal both refinement and creative drive, linking Romantic traditions with the emergence of an American voice.

Usui-Tibetan Reiki Master: Shinpiden Workshop

Advance your Reiki practice in a master-level workshop within the Usui Tibetan lineage that is intended for practitioners who want to deepen their skills, whether or not they plan to teach. Tuition is $350. The training is held across two sessions, and attendance at both is required. Participants build a fuller understanding of Reiki energy, philosophy, and application, explore additional traditional and nontraditional symbols with related meditations and treatment methods, and receive an introduction to basic human anatomy to support their work. The curriculum includes advanced aura clearing techniques sometimes known as Reiki surgery, guidance on creating a personalized Reiki intention box for focused healing and manifestation, and practices that weave mindfulness into sessions and daily life. Students are encouraged to wait at least six months to a year after completing Level Two before enrolling to allow those teachings to settle in. Successful completion leads to Reiki Master certification. The workshop is led by Michael Ward, RMT, LMBT, founder of Kinetic Roots Wellness, a trauma-informed, queer-owned practice offering massage therapy, Reiki treatments, certification workshops, and continuing education for massage therapists. Michael brings more than a decade of experience in Reiki and meditation, with training in the Usui Tibetan and Usui Reiki traditions under Reiki Master Teachers Margo Ross Sears, David Sears, and Brett Bevell. As a licensed massage and bodywork therapist specializing in oncology and condition-specific massage, Michael integrates knowledge of the body, mind, and energy systems into teaching and fosters inclusive, healing-centered spaces for authentic exploration, integrity, and self-discovery.
