    2026 Triad Walk for Apraxia

    The 2026 Triad Walk for Apraxia is a free community event at Fourth of July Park that celebrates Apraxia Stars and raises awareness of childhood apraxia of speech. Families, friends, and professionals come together to support Apraxia Kids and to ensure children feel understood and encouraged. Organizers aim to create a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience for entire teams of supporters, with more details to be announced. Registration is free. Every registered walker who raises $50 earns the official 2026 Walk for Apraxia t-shirt, and participants can work toward additional individual fundraising incentive prizes. All registered Apraxia Stars are honored individually and receive a free t-shirt, medal, and certificate in recognition of their hard work. Funds raised benefit the programs of Apraxia Kids, including education for professionals and families, community engagement and outreach, and efforts in advocacy and research. The Walk for Apraxia is known as the biggest apraxia awareness event in the United States, bringing the community together to celebrate achievements and expand support for children with apraxia of speech.

Performers of every experience level are welcome, whether returning cast members or first-time auditioners, individuals, families, or groups of friends. Opportunities span children, teens, and adults, and the ensemble is central to building the world of the show, often taking on multiple roles with featured lines, harmonies, dance and specialty movement, and quick changes. The casting breakdown features principal adult roles including Ebenezer Scrooge, the Ghost of Christmas Present who also appears as the Sandwich Board Man, the Ghost of Christmas Future who also appears as the Blind Old Hag, Jacob Marley, Bob Cratchit, and Mrs. Cratchit. Principal youth roles include the Ghost of Christmas Past who also appears as the Lamplighter and Tiny Tim. Additional featured and supporting parts include Scrooge at several ages, Emily, Mr. and Mrs. Fezziwig, Fred Anderson and Sally Anderson, Young Marley, Mr. Smythe and Grace Smythe, Mrs. Mops, members of the Cratchit and Anderson families, and community characters such as the Beadle, Old Joe, Charity collectors, Carolers, Acolytes, and others. Dedicated dancer tracks appear in the Christmas Cracker celebration, the Abundance and Charity sequence, and the Future sequence. Character notes outline vocal ranges and qualities across the company, from Scrooge’s wide emotional arc to the showmanship of Christmas Present and the powerful physical storytelling required for Christmas Future. The production is led by Director Courtney Lowe, Music Director Kristina Railsback, Choreographer Linnea Bethany, and Stage Manager Rachel Sprague. Audition sign ups are available.
