Mr. Keith leads a storytelling session for preschoolers with books, songs, and rhymes tailored to children ages 3 to 5. The focus is on nurturing curiosity and wonder through engaging stories, playful music, and lively verse.

Children are welcome at Woodfin’s Youth Development Center for a monthly story hour featuring a different guest reader. In collaboration with Buncombe County Library’s Preschool Outreach Program, each session offers a rotating selection of books selected to reflect the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s anti-bias education principles. The stories are chosen to promote inclusion, broaden representation, and spark meaningful conversations among young learners.

An engaging storytime that supports early language development for babies 4 to 18 months. Older siblings are welcome to attend. After the stories, parents can connect with one another while little ones explore sensory toys. This program is intended for children with their accompanying adults. Please remain with your child and take part in the activities. Drop offs are not allowed.

This in-store adoption event at PetSmart in Asheville features cats ready for new homes. Each cat has been spayed or neutered, vaccinated according to age, microchipped, tested for FeLV and FIV, dewormed, and started on monthly flea prevention. Before attending, review the current roster of adoptable cats to read profiles written by foster caregivers, see photos, and view adoption fees. If a particular cat looks like the right fit, submitting an adoption application in advance can place you near the front of the line. A calm, kid-centered coloring session pairs coloring with time among cats, activities associated with relieving stress and anxiety. Coloring books, markers, and cats are provided. Children ages 13 and under are welcome, and tickets are $15 for one child plus one adult, with admission supporting the care of the resident panthers. When the artwork is complete, participants can take their picture home or place it on the altar in the shop for Bastet. This gathering is intended to be quiet and relaxing for everyone, and cat lounge rules must be followed by all attendees. An adults-only version is available on the organizer’s calendar, and reservations can be made through the website.

Presented by Grey Eagle Events, this patio performance features Kyley Byrd with the High Mountain Flyers. Byrd, a fixture in Asheville’s music scene for two decades, is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist whose warm, soulful voice carries across styles with genuine energy. She is joined by the High Mountain Flyers (also known as the High MF’ers): Mark Fuller on lead guitar, Mark Chester on rhythm guitar, and JD Smith on electric bass. All three bandmates also contribute vocals and songwriting. Together they bring smooth harmonies and an easygoing feel, blending original songs with covers given their own distinct touch. This is a free, all-ages show, and patio seating is limited on a first come, first served basis.
