    Art Therapy for Cancer Patients

Fayetteville · Cape Fear Valley Cancer Treatment & CyberKnife Center, 1638 Owen Dr

    Free

Cancer patients are welcome at a free art therapy session held in the Cancer Treatment and CyberKnife Center conference room, accessible by taking the elevator down from the Cancer Center lobby. On the first Wednesday of each month, the session takes place in the Center lobby instead. No prior art experience is needed, and a variety of creative materials will be used. The session is led by certified art therapist Yael Divon. Art therapy offers a guided way to express feelings, lower stress and anxiety, build self-awareness, and support overall functioning. It can help communicate when words are hard to find, with emphasis on the act of creating rather than the finished artwork. Walk-ins are welcome. To sign up or request information, Cancer Treatment & CyberKnife Center patients can call (910) 615-4626 or (910) 615-4435, and Health Pavilion North Cancer Center patients can call (910) 615-3856. This program is supported by grant funding from the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County and the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
