Prima Elements Holistic Wellness CenterAKC Rally Handling Seminar - Getting Ready for the National Championships -
RiverRun presents an AKC Rally handling seminar designed to help teams get competition ready for the AKC Rally National Championship. It is open to all, yet the curriculum is tailored to handlers who are aiming for the championship stage. Topics include interpreting signs and understanding where points are commonly lost, how judging can vary for the same mistake, and strategies for building confidence for both handler and dog in the ring. Participants will explore the value of muscle memory, practice staying connected with their dogs while navigating courses and signs, review essential cues, and learn when and how to offer support without creating added pressure. There will also be time to work through specific exercises that individuals find challenging and to address additional questions. The seminar is led by Paula Thomason, who has earned more than 20 Rally championships across five breeds, with all but one achieved through at least 20 triple events. Her record includes over 180 High In Trial awards. In 2021, four of her dogs ranked among the top all-breed AKC Top Dogs in Rally: Ash led German Shepherd Dogs and placed third in herding and overall, Levi topped Russell Terriers and the Terrier group and placed fourth overall, Spot led Border Collies and ranked fourth in herding and fifth overall, and Patch led Mini American Shepherds and placed fifth in herding and sixth overall. Many of Paula’s students consistently earn ribbons and have achieved Rally championships as well. Working entries are 100 dollars and auditing is 30 dollars. These seminars tend to reach capacity quickly, often within a day of being announced. To inquire, email Paula Thomason at Riverrundog@aol.com.

Gracefully FitExtravaSlabbaGanza
ExtravaSlabbaGanza turns an overstuffed shop into a tongue‑in‑cheek slab blowout, sparked by one too many cutting sessions and piles that grew faster than the racks could handle. The team is pulling from the deep, disorganized corners, unearthing forgotten finds and oversized pieces alongside the neatly stacked stock. Expect a sprawling mix of species and shapes, including walnut, maple, oak, and cedar, plus live‑edge cookies, mantels, turning blanks, cutoffs, outsized showstoppers, quirky character slabs, and plenty of one‑off surprises that once stood tall as trees. Prices are slashed to the point of tailgate‑filling deals and head‑scratching bargains. Possible specials may include a complimentary hour of shop labor for big purchases, a box‑stuffing challenge with shorts and cutoffs, and a wink to the reality that no one leaves with just one slab. Spend enough and that extra hour of help might land in your corner. Playful ground rules keep the chaos fun. Keep lips off the figured pieces, save the wrestling moves for elsewhere, and if you mutter that classic line about what your spouse will say, a dedicated loader is ready to get you squared away. If the trailer’s tires look a little uneasy, you are probably doing it right. Helpful prep includes showing up with a truck or roomy ride, strong tie‑downs, and that bold friend who always says to go for it. Early arrivals tend to find the choicest picks, and previous runs have seen lines form before the day even got rolling.
