Major League Baseball’s Pitch, Hit & Run offers a free opportunity for boys and girls to demonstrate their baseball and softball abilities. Participants compete in age brackets 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, and 13-14, with eligibility determined by an age cutoff of November 15, 2026. Each athlete completes a set of skill evaluations, measurements are recorded for points, and scores determine advancement from a local event to a team championship, then on to the finals taking place during the 2026 MLB World Series.

Funky Monks

Funky Monks brings a high-energy tribute to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, launching the Gastonia Concert Series with a show packed with funk, rock, and a lively atmosphere. This tribute act with a national reputation captures the band’s sound, feel, and attitude for a crowd that loves to move, with DJ Johnny B adding to the momentum. Admission is free, and tickets can be reserved in advance. Concessions will be available. Hosted by the Gastonia East Rotary Club, the concert series has raised more than $275,000 for local nonprofits and community programs over the past decade.

The Mystery of Edwin Drood

FUMC Theatre presents The Mystery of Edwin Drood, directed by Jeff Manus with music direction by Susan Lisle. Based on Charles Dickens’ unfinished novel, this interactive musical mystery invites the audience to take part in the investigation and vote on the culprit. In the small town of Chesterham, England, Edwin Drood is found murdered, and suspicion falls on several figures, including his rival John Jasper, the notorious Princess Puffer, and the Landless twins newly arrived from Ceylon, with other possibilities still in play. Framed as a performance by the Music Hall Royale, a traveling Victorian troupe, the production uses a playful show-within-a-show approach and a finale that changes based on the audience’s choice.

Through the Looking Glass - Telescope Party

At the James H. Lynn Planetarium, enjoy an astronomy program that starts with a curated planetarium presentation and continues with telescope viewing of the night sky guided by planetarium staff. Steven Massey "Therapy" Re-Release Party

Space to Breathe; a Meditative Breathwork Journey

Take a moment to slow down and reconnect in a meditative breathwork journey guided by Ashley. The session weaves mindful breathing with gentle movement and quiet stillness, offering space to reflect, reset, and meet yourself where you are. Gatherings are held on the last weekend of each month and conclude with the calming sounds of singing bowls to support presence and integration. All are welcome. Comfort Cases For Foster Kids Charity Sew-in Event

This charitable sewing event supports children in foster care in partnership with Comfort Cases, with a goal of ending the use of trash bags in the system and affirming that these children matter. The day features continuous sewing to raise funds for Comfort Cases and a collection of new items. Friendly competition and prizes are planned, and there are ways for family members who do not sew to participate. Each sewing station requires registration at a cost of $10 to reserve a space, and that fee will be donated in full to Comfort Cases. Fabric and supplies will be provided for the day, and participants are asked to bring a sewing machine and basic notions.

Goat Island Games

Goat Island Games is a family friendly showcase of outdoor recreation, community spirit, and Cramerton pride. The multi sport festival continues to grow, attracting participants and spectators from across the Carolinas with a blend of races, tournaments, fitness activities, and live music. New this year, the event features an America 250 celebration as an official Gaston 250 event. The signature goat logo appears in patriotic style, and runners and other participants are encouraged to wear patriotic attire. Highlights include a 5K and a 5 mile run, a disc golf tournament with a beginner clinic presented by G-Town Disc Golf Club along with a putting contest, a mountain bike adventure race with Tarheel Trailblazers, group workouts with Immortal Athletics, a group walk with SHE Runs This Town, and tournaments in fishing, ping pong, cornhole, and pickleball. The pickleball tournament takes place at C.B. Huss Recreation Center. Most activities are on or around Goat Island Park, a 30 acre island park on the South Fork Catawba River near downtown Cramerton. The runs are also part of the Run Gaston Race Series. Registration for the 5K and 5 miler is open, and registration for tournament games will open soon. A post race festival features live music by Caleb Davis.

Film Screening: The Passion of Joan of Arc

Dallas lavender farm Hippie Daze festival

A lively lavender farm celebration brings together live bands, stilt walkers, and lots of photo opportunities alongside a bustling marketplace of vendors featuring art, jewelry, hippie themed goods, fairy hair, face painting, and food trucks. Reptile & Amphibian Day

Sam Buckingham | ANGASTON | BEAUTIFUL MACHINE Tour

Sam Buckingham brings her Beautiful Machine tour to Angaston Town Hall, celebrating her new album with an intimate performance presented across two sets. She describes the record as a heartfelt letter to herself, her body, the planet, and humanity, exploring the rhythms of the natural world and the ways human-built systems intersect with and sometimes disrupt them. The tour stretches across the country and features acoustic renditions of favorites from earlier releases including Dear John, Cyclone, and Quiet Revolution, while she uses Ableton Push for live looping and sampling to shape the new songs on stage. This is an all-ages event, with free entry for children 12 and under, and attendees are welcome to bring their own food and drinks. Her track record includes appearances at the Woodford, Wild Village, and Queenscliff music festivals, along with tours alongside Festival of Small Halls, Paul Kelly, Katie Noonan, Tim Freedman, The Whitlams, Kasey Chambers, Washington, and Ben Lee.

Low-Country Garden Party

Movies in the Park

Movies in the Park makes its debut at Cloninger Park with an open air screening of The Sandlot. Admission is free, food trucks will be on site, and the atmosphere is family friendly for a relaxing evening under the stars. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs for comfortable viewing. Community support comes from Sweet Grace Shake Shoppe, Kanman Waste Removal, Concrete Core Drilling, Dallas Tavern & Taphouse, and The Parlor.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection

Residents of Gaston County can bring household hazardous materials to the Citizens Resource Center for safe collection and disposal. This service is limited to Gaston County residents. If arriving via Highway 279 West, turn at the Citizens Resource Center entrance into Dallas Park and look for signage directing you to the Household Hazardous Waste Center. Examples of materials that can be dropped off include oil based paint, solvents, bug sprays, weed killers, lawn care chemicals, aerosol products, fluorescent bulbs, motor oil and oil filters, household cleaners, and batteries. Electronics are not accepted at these events, as they are taken every day at the Convenience sites. Proper handling prevents pollutants from reaching lakes, streams, and soil, helping protect environmental and public health. For latex or other water based paints, mix in kitty litter or sand to dry them completely, then place the fully dried can with regular household trash.

Carolina Grass Bash

Carolina Grass Bash brings competitive grass volleyball to Walker E. Reid III Park, with divisions for men’s and women’s doubles as well as reverse coed doubles. Players are looked after with complimentary water, Gatorade, and Alani Nu, along with free action photography. Expect on-site eats from a food truck and Italian ice, a BTB Apparel shop, leg compression recovery stations, a featured Court 1 with clear boundaries, and a giant BTB inflatable ball for photos. The tournament is run in an organized format and offers a strong payout structure. Entry is $40 per player for Open and AA divisions and $35 per player for A and BB divisions, with a later price increase of $10. This AVP America sanctioned event requires an active AVP America membership at the Silver level or higher for all participants.

General Nathanael Greene & General Daniel Morgan’s Plan To Ruin Lord Cornwallis

At Gaston County Public Library, Revolutionary War historian and reenactor John E. F. Misenheimer II examines the efforts of Generals Nathanael Greene and Daniel Morgan against British General Charles Cornwallis, highlighting how the battles of Cowpens and Kings Mountain helped shift momentum toward American independence. Misenheimer is president of the Lt. Colonel John Phifer Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, treasurer and former board chair of the Historic Cabarrus Association, and was recognized as North Carolina Historian of the Year by the N.C. Society of Historians in 2006. Ed Niven portrays a soldier from Fraser’s Highlanders to offer a British Army perspective. Admission is free and no registration is required. Reservations are suggested for organized groups. Recommended for adults and teens. Ben has been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer and the toll of treatment has even led him to sell his gear, so this show aims to provide support. The lineup includes Redefind (Greenville, SC Nu-Metal), Valar Morghulis (NC Death Metal), Two Stroke (Shelby, NC Hardcore), Nicaea (Winston-Salem, NC Metalcore), Attracting The Fall (Raleigh, NC Progressive Deathcore) and Frailskin (Charlotte, NC Gazecore). Cramerton Pool Opening Day

Show Team Camp

Show Team Camp is part of Peach Orchard’s small-group offerings, created to help horse enthusiasts grow into skilled horsemen through focused instruction. It is designed for riders ready to lead and represent the barn at a high standard. Instruction covers turnout and grooming expectations, ring etiquette, show preparation, mane and tail braiding, professional conduct, and the fine details that elevate a rider from casual participant to polished competitor. Tuition is $350 per student. Spots are limited to protect the horses, maintain high-quality teaching, and preserve a calm, intentional setting. A nonrefundable 50 percent deposit is required to reserve a place. The aim is to develop confident, capable horsemen and women.

Before the session, stop by Sink or Swim Scuba to pick up any rental gear, complete the training folder and waivers, and, if needed, purchase a properly fitted mask, fins, snorkel, and booties. During that visit, complete the Blue Stone Dive Resort waiver and pay the daily entry fee of $28. All SDI eLearning requirements must be finished in advance, including the exam and online waiver. If the online medical questionnaire called for a physician’s clearance, bring that documentation. Upon arrival at the resort, carts are available to move gear from drop-off to parking, and instructors will meet participants in the lobby. Training begins with a swim evaluation and confined-water skills. After those are demonstrated, the first open water dive takes place with an instructor. The second day continues with remaining open water dives and additional skill practice. Bring a scrubbed mask, fins, snorkel, and boots, a logbook, and the SDI app to log dives, along with a BCD, regulators, wetsuit, and tanks, whether personal or rental. Pack snacks, a lunch, and plenty of water, and bring a towel, dry clothes, sun protection, and a swimsuit.

Spring Bike & Car Show 2026

Little Historians Popsicles & Play

Children of all ages are welcome at the front of Loray Mill for popsicles, a small coloring activity that may include a craft, and time to play. Caregivers and children of any needs and abilities are welcome. A free parking lot sits across from the park, and meeting there instead is an option.

Carolina's South Fork Boys Charge Into History: The Battle of Kings Mountain

History professor and local archaeologist Mike Baxter from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte leads a talk on the Battle of King’s Mountain, highlighting participants from present day Lincoln and Gaston Counties with special attention to the South Fork Boys. Admission is free and no advance registration is required. Organized groups are encouraged to make reservations. This program is recommended for adults and teens. Pickin’ n Piggin’ Bluegrass Festival

Set on the grounds of Hampton Homestead Farm, this bluegrass festival pairs live music with slow-smoked barbecue in a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. Offerings include BBQ plates and food trucks, local vendors and crafts, a petting zoo and kids zone, plus yard games and other activities for all ages. Independence Day Celebration: Coming Up Brass

Downtown Cramerton marks the United States’ 250th anniversary with an evening filled with live entertainment, family friendly activities, and a fireworks finale. The celebration highlights Coming Up Brass, an 11-piece group known for high-energy, danceable songs that stretch from the 1960s to today, featuring bold horns, standout vocals, and a tight rhythm section from seasoned musicians. Local food vendors will offer sweet treats and savory bites, and downtown restaurants welcome diners or takeout. Cramerton functions as a Social District, so beverages may be enjoyed while strolling when carried in an official Cramerton social district cup available from participating businesses. Children can enjoy free face painting, and the night is set to conclude with a fireworks display planned to be larger and longer than in past years. Please be aware that intermittent traffic delays may occur around downtown during the day’s activities.

Discover how to responsibly care for pets that are a little out of the ordinary. This welcoming session introduces the essentials of looking after uncommon companions and what to consider to keep them well. There may also be an opportunity to meet a few scaly visitors and interact with them.

mc chris marks 25 years with a live performance featuring Swell Rell and special guest B-Villainous. All ages are welcome. Tickets are $20 if purchased in advance and $25 on the day of the show. A pioneer of Nerdcore, mc chris is widely recognized for the recurring character MC P Pants on Adult Swim’s Aqua Teen Hunger Force, where he also contributed as an animator and writer. His work extends to The Brak Show and Sealab 2021, along with appearances in the Aqua Teen feature film, the video game, and the Aqua Donk Side Pieces video series. He is also celebrating a Marvel inspired album titled King in Black. Collaborations include Talib Kweli, Andrew WK, and Donald Glover, with fans such as Gerard Way, Post Malone, and T-Pain, and his voice was sampled by Run the Jewels for the Aqua Teen movie Plantasm. Touring history includes Reggie and the Full Effect and Ninja Sex Party, performances on the Warped Tour and The Gathering of the Juggalos, an appearance on a GWAR album, and even a Honda commercial. He is a full-time single father to his son, Tony, and lives in Los Angeles.

4th of July Celebration

This annual celebration features a 250th anniversary parade, a concert with the Next Level Band of Charlotte, and a lineup of food trucks, live music, and fireworks. The atmosphere is festive, with food, performances, and a fireworks display to close the celebration.

Fourth of July Celebration

Head to downtown Gastonia for an evening filled with food trucks, a beer garden, vendors, and live entertainment. Children can enjoy a KidsZone at no charge, and the celebration wraps up with fireworks accompanied by pre-recorded patriotic music. The music lineup starts with a local musician, followed by the Bantum Rooster Band performing through the remainder of the event. Pack a lawn chair or blanket so you can settle in and enjoy the show. For vendors, the City of Gastonia will not contact you via social media to request payments; applications and fees are handled only through the secure site linked above.

Great American Splash!

Cool off at Cramerton Pool with open swim, family-friendly games, and popsicles by the water. Admission is free for residents, $7 for non-residents ages 3 and up, and free for children 2 and under.

America 250 Parade

The Gaston 250 Committee is partnering with the Town of Dallas, the county’s original seat, to celebrate America’s 250th birthday with a countywide parade and a full day of festivities. Free children and family activities take place at the museum, and a concert in Dallas rounds out the celebration. Parade participation is by invitation from the committee and is capped at 125 entries to keep the procession manageable. Invited entrants will line up at the Ingles Market parking lot before the start.
