Registered entries will make three passes along the official route through town, then park near East City Park for public viewing. A cruise map will be shared ahead of time to help participants and spectators plan their outing. The evening features live music, a family friendly atmosphere, and a variety of food and local market vendors. Browse the stalls, enjoy something tasty, and admire unique vehicles while taking in the music. This multi day gathering centers on learning and sharing traditional crafts and nature based skills in a welcoming community setting. It pairs shared meals, time to connect, music, storytelling, and folk dance with hands-on instruction. Workshops explore ancient fire making, flint knapping with arrowheads and tool shaping, atlatl crafting and throwing, harvesting natural fibers to twist cord and string, rope work and knot tying, hide and bead work, building with willow and basketry, knife safety with notching techniques, traditional scales and intervals with singing alongside the natural world, sky map study leading into evening stargazing, guided plant walks focused on identification, uses, and harvesting, felting, and spinning with a drop spindle. Additional sessions and spontaneous activities arise throughout the event, and participants can bring their own interests to propose during daily announcements. Some projects require multiple sessions to complete and instructors will outline how they are structured. If a class fills, many teachers allow observers at their discretion. Certain practices such as flint knapping may be available on an ongoing basis. Opportunities for work exchange may be available for those able to teach or assist with setup, daily tasks, and takedown.

For events held within state park areas, a current state park entry permit is also required.

Adults ages 18 and older can enroll in a state-approved driver safety class tailored for adult learners. The program includes 12 hours of classroom instruction, a final exam that requires at least an 80 percent score, and six hours of on-road training with a Drive Test Instructor. A valid learner’s permit is required to participate, and the course is not available to those 17 or younger. Attendance policies are strict. Only one classroom session may be missed, and it must be made up. Missing more than 25 percent of the classroom time results in removal from the course with no refunds. This annual Nebraska State OMokSee offers a fun, beginner friendly weekend with friends. The arena requires a $50 per family insurance fee that will fund a large raffle. There are no electric hookups, so generators are needed. Stall space is minimal and reservations are encouraged. Tie out pens are recommended.

Designed for women who have already completed a basic pistol class, this intermediate course focuses on turning foundational knowledge into practical capability. Built on the USCCA curriculum for women at the intermediate level, it emphasizes real-world readiness, steady confidence under pressure, and the kind of familiarity with your firearm that keeps malfunctions from becoming emergencies. It also encourages proactive awareness so potential threats are recognized before they escalate. Training covers the differences between semi-automatics and revolvers, including strengths, limitations, and when each makes sense. Participants practice identifying and clearing common malfunctions, explore holster options suited to concealed carry, and apply the color codes of awareness along with boundary-setting skills. On-range and off-range exercises are included to develop a defensive mindset in addition to marksmanship. The experience is intentionally structured to bridge the gap between fundamentals and defensive application in a supportive, women-focused setting. The goal is to leave more capable, more prepared, and more confident. Prerequisite: completion of a basic pistol course. Duration is 4 hours, and the fee is $150. Please bring a working pistol, 50 to 100 rounds of ammunition, and eye and ear protection. Wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Registration policies: 50 percent of the fee is a nonrefundable deposit. If a transfer cannot be arranged, the remaining balance may be refunded via PayPal. Participants who do not provide 72 hours notice and do not attend forfeit the full registration fee.

Held at DefComp, this Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals course follows the USCCA CCHDF curriculum and focuses on responsible carry through preparation and confidence. It meets the training requirement to apply for a Nebraska Concealed Handgun Permit. More than marksmanship, the class emphasizes readiness in mind, law, and physical skills. Participants develop strategies for avoiding conflict and improving situational awareness, build safe and confident handgun handling, and learn defensive shooting concepts grounded in practical application. Instruction also covers how the body responds under intense stress, clear guidance on lawful use of force, what to do afterward, and how to choose gear and continue training beyond the classroom. The approach is designed to build confidence through competence so you leave with direction and a strong sense of responsibility. A prior Basic Handgun Course with a qualified instructor, or equivalent demonstrable safety and fundamentals, is required. The class runs for 8 hours and the fee is $200. Students must bring a functioning handgun with at least two magazines or a working revolver, a holster, 100 rounds of ammunition, and eye and ear protection. Range-appropriate clothing is required. If a participant lacks required equipment or if any gear is unsafe, including a holster that does not securely retain the firearm, the student may be asked to reschedule for a later session. Registration policies include a nonrefundable deposit equal to 50 percent of the fee, refunds of any remaining balance via PayPal if a transfer is not possible, and forfeiture of all fees for no-shows or cancellations without at least 72 hours’ notice.

A free community kite festival fills the sky with color at Landers Soccer Complex in Scottsbluff. Great American Kites will showcase massive, eye-catching creations that glide and dance overhead, setting the scene for a family friendly weekend. Attendees can watch a spectacular giant kite show, help children make simple paper kites to fly, and take part in a designated public flying area. Activities include bol and parachute races and a candy drop, with plenty of photo opportunities alongside the towering kites. Food trucks and local vendors will be on site with festival favorites.
