Nspire Today! and Riverside Discovery Center present the inaugural ZooFest, a full day of family-friendly fun at Riverside Discovery Center. Expect a lively marketplace of vendors, zookeeper talks featuring ambassador animals, up-close animal encounters, stage entertainment, inflatables, and a wide range of games and activities for both kids and adults. The celebration also includes a DJ-led splash pad party, face painting, hands-on craft projects, animal training demonstrations, live music, contests, giveaways, and educational booths, along with special activities in honor of International Cat Day. As the day moves into the evening, the event continues with live bands on stage, food options, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, additional giveaways, and more. Bridgeport City Sounds presents a combined Cruise Night and Back to School Bash at Bridgeport City Park (East), bringing together classic vehicles, live entertainment, and community activities. Vehicle owners may register antique tractors, hot rods, classic cars, vintage rides, and custom builds for the celebration. Registered entries will make three passes along the official route through town, then park near East City Park for public viewing. A cruise map will be shared ahead of time to help participants and spectators plan their outing. The evening features live music, a family friendly atmosphere, and a variety of food and local market vendors. Browse the stalls, enjoy something tasty, and admire unique vehicles while taking in the music. Lawn chairs are welcome for comfortable viewing as the community gathers to celebrate classic rides, local music, and good food.

This multi day gathering centers on learning and sharing traditional crafts and nature based skills in a welcoming community setting. It pairs shared meals, time to connect, music, storytelling, and folk dance with hands-on instruction. Workshops explore ancient fire making, flint knapping with arrowheads and tool shaping, atlatl crafting and throwing, harvesting natural fibers to twist cord and string, rope work and knot tying, hide and bead work, building with willow and basketry, knife safety with notching techniques, traditional scales and intervals with singing alongside the natural world, sky map study leading into evening stargazing, guided plant walks focused on identification, uses, and harvesting, felting, and spinning with a drop spindle. Additional sessions and spontaneous activities arise throughout the event, and participants can bring their own interests to propose during daily announcements. Some projects require multiple sessions to complete and instructors will outline how they are structured. If a class fills, many teachers allow observers at their discretion. Certain practices such as flint knapping may be available on an ongoing basis. Opportunities for work exchange may be available for those able to teach or assist with setup, daily tasks, and takedown.

A community fishing night at Laing Lake in Alliance is hosted by Nebraska Game and Parks and includes time to talk directly with a fisheries biologist. Ask questions about nearby lakes and ponds, fish species, stocking, habitat projects, and how fisheries are managed across the state. The Family Fishing Trailer offers complimentary loaner rods and reels, bait, and hands-on instruction, and fishing instructors are available to share tips and answer questions. This welcoming setting suits all ages, from first-time anglers to those getting back into the sport. Participants who are 16 or older must have a valid fishing license. For events held within state park areas, a current state park entry permit is also required.
