20th Annual Grassy Sound Flounder Tournament
The 20th Annual Grassy Sound Flounder Tournament is a back bay competition for boats and kayaks with entry set at $300 per boat and $75 per kayak. Marina slip holders can pick up tournament bags at the ship’s store, while non slip holders can collect them at the ship’s store or by boat at the fuel dock. Boats must remain inside the inlet, and all vessels are required to be back within the Grassy Sound Marina boundary by the weigh-in deadline with no exceptions. A representative from each boat must be present at weigh-in. All fish to be entered must be tagged before returning to the marina, except bluefish, striped bass, and weakfish, which are not tagged. Only one rod per angler may be used on a boat, and each boat team is limited to four anglers and one observer. The heaviest flounder may be counted in only one category. Mutilated fish will not be weighed, all flounder must meet legal size, and any entry deemed suspicious may be examined and disqualified. All rulings by the tournament director are final. The tournament bag includes a captain’s shirt, a large identification number that must remain visible, two black tags for the combined weight category, one white tag for the single heaviest fish, one blue tag for youth entries for anglers 15 or younger, one pink tag for the women’s entry, and five tickets to the after party along with five door prize tickets. Awards are presented for the heaviest flounder through third place, the best total of two fish, top woman angler, and top youth angler, plus the Daisy Mae Award recognizing the 11th heaviest flounder. If weights match exactly, prizes are shared equally. A Captain’s Dinner is also planned for participants.

Cape May Poet Laureate Sylvia Baer leads a pair of immersive, in-person seminars at Cape May Convention Hall that invite a close look at two forms, poetry and the novel. Participants will read, explore, and respond to poems, then turn to novels to consider theme, symbolism, character, and setting. The sessions welcome anyone interested in literature at any level of knowledge and experience. Dr. Baer brings more than five decades of teaching to the room, along with a wide-ranging literary life as a playwright, memoirist, scholar, and translator of Spanish poetry into English, and she is a Fellow of Yale University. Her ties to Cape May MAC span many years and include a family connection through her father, who served as the organization’s first president in 1971. OC Adventure Golf hosts a competitive round in the OGA Tour 2026, a ten-game mini golf league traveling across Ocean City. A game victory locks in a spot in the Member's Championship, and reaching 20 or more points during the season also secures qualification. The season points leader claims the O-Street Cup. The Cape Express More Beach Blast Sand Soccer Tournament brings five-on-five beach soccer to the Jersey Shore at Morey's Piers & Beachfront Water Parks, with youth divisions from U8 through U19 and adult play. Morey's Piers sponsors the event. Each youth team receives ten amusement passes valid for admission to all three amusement piers, including Mariner's, Adventure and Surfside. Now in its seventh year, this community race features paddleboard, kayak, and swimming events on the waters of the Venetian Lagoon. The course follows a loop, and the kayak division welcomes both single and double entries. Beach patrol will be on site to support swimmer safety, and racing boards are not allowed in the paddleboard category. Spectators are welcome to watch from safe viewing areas along the route, and winners will receive prizes and trophies. A sign-up sheet will be shared ahead of time. Donations are being collected to benefit John Kauterman, who works to clean the bay and surrounding marshes in South Jersey. A contribution of $10 is suggested, and any amount is appreciated, with cash accepted on race day.
