A Saturday evening market experience with live music is planned as part of a 12 week series supported by the Village of Mayville and the Town of Chautauqua. Week 9 of the season includes a classic car show, and the musical act is to be announced. Visitors can browse the market, enjoy food, try yard games, and bring chairs to relax. The NAPA All Star Circuit of Champions 410 sprint cars appear alongside the Dave Warren Golf Carts & Powersports super late models and the BRP Big Block Modified Tour, creating a combination that is rarely seen at a single track. Led by Everwild staff at Bemus Point Boat Launch, this on-water classroom teaches how to identify, document, survey, and remove aquatic invasive species in and around Chautauqua Lake. The lake supports a diverse community of underwater plants, including rare and threatened species as well as common plants that provide habitat and help maintain water quality. Non native invaders can disrupt the ecosystem, limit recreation, and affect the local economy. Everwild Land Trust runs a summer Early Detection effort in which trained staff and volunteers monitor the lake, survey for invasive species, and remove them when found. These sessions prepare new volunteers to recognize priority species and submit observations through iMapInvasives, expanding awareness and coverage throughout the busy season. Multiple sessions are offered at different locations, and participants may register for more than one. This session is intended for adults and is free. Registration is required because the work is highly weather dependent, and it closes the day before each session. Check email beforehand for urgent updates. Please bring a kayak or canoe and a life jacket, and pack what you need to stay safe and comfortable on the water, such as sunscreen, insect repellent, water shoes, drinking water, and a snack.
