Summer Scares Saratoga: Hell, Hysteria, and Horror!

Saratoga Springs Public Library partners with a touring panel of horror authors for a summer afternoon gathering filled with chills, conversation, and refreshments on the porch at Bailey's Cafe next to the library. The focus is on new releases and the genre's darker delights, and online registration is requested. Featured guests include C.J. Leede, author of Maeve Fly and Headlights, Kyle Kouri, author of The Problem Drinker, Christoph Paul of CLASH Books and author of The Last House on Earth and Death Walks South Boston, Leza Cantoral of CLASH Books and editor of Tragedy Queens: Stories Inspired by Lana Del Rey & Sylvia Plath, and Michael J. Seidlinger, author of Anybody Home and Brokeula. This event is part of the Horror Writers Association's Summer Scares program, a reading initiative from the HWA in partnership with Book Riot, Booklist, NoveList, and iREAD, with sponsorship from Bailey's Cafe and the Friends of the Saratoga Springs Public Library.

Garden Art Gathering

Settle into a calm creative session in the heart of the Community Garden, where flowers are in bloom and pollinators hum nearby. Under the pergola, participants slow down with a sketchbook and notice small wonders like a curling tendril, the symmetry of a leaf, and light filtering through petals. This is not a formal class, but a welcoming space to connect with nature and create alongside fellow artists. Gentle prompts inspired by nature journaling encourage observation, reflection, and personal expression, whether your medium is illustration, painting, journaling, collage, or something else. The gathering is free and open to everyone, and no advance sign up is required. Bring your preferred art materials. All experience levels are encouraged to take part, from first timers to long time creators. The session is guided by Tracy.
