Jordan's Run Veterans' Memorial 5K Run/Walk is a USATF-certified event that is part of the Suffolk County Veterans Run Series. The route showcases historic Sag Harbor Village, passing Pierson High School, the harbor and windmill, and includes a loop over and back on the NYS Lance Cpl. Veterans' Memorial Bridge named in honor of LCpl Jordan C. Haerter. Participants also pass a marina near the second water stop where he worked during the summer, along with Oakland Cemetery, where he rests. The run honors Jordan Haerter, who grew up in Sag Harbor, graduated from Pierson High School in 2006, completed boot camp at Parris Island later that year to become a United States Marine, served with 1st Battalion, 9th Marines, and deployed to Ramadi, Iraq, in March 2008. Community support for Jordan’s Run is appreciated.

Students will choose strong material, polish short song cuts of 16 to 32 bars, and practice making clear, specific acting choices. The focus includes telling the story through music, attentive listening, purposeful objectives, and a poised physical presence. The program features mock auditions and individualized coaching in a supportive setting, providing practical tools that can be used right away. Alto saxophonist, composer, and bandleader Patrick Cornelius appears with his quartet for an outdoor jazz concert centered on his own compositions, where tuneful themes, interwoven rhythms, and collaborative improvising shape the music. A veteran of more than two decades in New York’s jazz community, he has led multiple recordings and worked alongside Gerald Clayton, Kendrick Scott, Miles Okazaki, Jeff Ballard, and Frank Kimbrough. His studies at Berklee College of Music, Manhattan School of Music, and The Juilliard School, along with recognition including ASCAP Young Composer awards and Chamber Music America New Jazz Works commissions, reflect a deep commitment to composing. The program offers a contemporary blend of written material and spontaneity, drawing from jazz, classical, and modern creative influences. Seating will be provided, the performance takes place outside, and rain will result in cancellation. The concert will be recorded for a future broadcast on WLIW-FM.

Conrad Herwig brings his quintet to Montauk Playhouse Community Center Foundation for a program honoring the 100th anniversary of Miles Davis and John Coltrane. A Grammy nominee on trombone who also composes, arranges, and teaches, Herwig is active in straight ahead jazz and Afro Latin styles, with credits that include work alongside Eddie Palmieri, Tito Puente, Paquito D’Rivera, Joe Henderson, Tom Harrell, and Clark Terry. Inspired by his long-running Latin Side concept, the set reframes music associated with Davis and Coltrane through Afro Caribbean and Latin jazz grooves, with contemporary rhythm, improvisation, and tight ensemble interplay offering new angles on themes from pivotal recordings and a lasting legacy. Raised in New York, he began performing in bands as a teenager, then moved to Los Angeles, where he became a regular at the Comedy Store and The Laugh Factory. He has performed at festivals including SXSW, the Great American Comedy Festival, and the Woodstock Comedy Festival. The experience features beloved songs like “Part of Your World,” “Under the Sea,” and “Poor Unfortunate Souls.” Teaching Artist Bethany Dellapolla leads the training, creating a supportive space that encourages confidence, teamwork, and performance skills. Each participant receives a themed t-shirt, and enrollment is limited to 20 students. The session culminates in a performance for friends and family.

A reading of poems with a book signing featuring poet and author Dee Slavutin, spotlighting her collection Suddenly Deciduous from Finishing Line Press. Slavutin is the author of two full-length collections, including Wingspan: Search for Food. She holds a master’s in literature from McGill University and an MBA in finance from Fordham University. While at McGill she founded the poetry magazine Cyan Line and served as its editor. Her work earned a grant from the Ruth Weiss Foundation as a finalist for the poem Aging in Haiku, and she curated the East Hampton Poetry Marathon for five years, a summer series of readings. Beyond poetry, she led a boutique financial services firm for more than three decades. She lives in East Hampton and New York City with her husband, Lee, and their two grown children. Inspired by long walks along Gardiner’s Bay, the Atlantic, and Riverside Park, she embraces the concise, fluid nature of verse and revises until the story feels complete, always striving for the level of effort that brings integrity to creative work.

The program weaves Torres’s own pieces with gentle nods to inspirations such as Tito Puente and Johann Sebastian Bach, balancing rhythmic lineage with rich harmonic ideas. The set is exploratory, occasionally incorporating the human voice, and leans more contemplative than Torres’s large-group projects. This weeklong intermediate and advanced musical theater camp at Bay Street Theater helps young performers deepen their storytelling through song and scene. Geared toward ages 11–17, the program focuses on acting, vocal work, and movement to build authentic, dynamic performances supported by strong technique. Students explore tools such as attentive listening, clear objectives and tactics, imaginative play, text analysis, speech, movement, and memory strategies. Each participant is assigned at least one solo along with its related scene and receives personalized coaching throughout the week. The experience wraps up with a sharing for friends and family. Enrollment is limited to 10 students and requires either a teacher recommendation or an audition. Tuition is $649. The camp is led by teaching artist Bethany Dellapolla, Director of Education and Community Outreach at Bay Street Theater, an experienced performer, director, choreographer, and educator whose students have progressed to Broadway, regional productions, film, and competitive collegiate programs. She fosters a professional, supportive environment that builds confidence and skill.
