AEG Presents The Day I Hang It Up Tour 2026 at Jacobs Pavilion, featuring Gavin Adcock with Jake Worthington and Tyler Nance. Adcock is a Georgia native from Watkinsville and a former Georgia Southern University football player who grew up working on his family cattle farm. After a knee injury in 2021, he recorded and released his first original single, then shifted fully to music, releasing multiple singles that have collectively drawn nearly 100 million streams. His song A Cigarette reached 12 million streams in less than two months. This event is open to all ages.

This free sewing open studio welcomes everyone. Participants can use the sewing machines and work area to advance their own projects. Volunteers come together to prep, cook, and bake casseroles that will be served at a meal hosted by the Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless. Recipes, tools, and aprons are supplied, so participants only need to show up. There are roles for every experience level and for any amount of time, and some volunteers may choose to shop for ingredients beforehand and stay to chat. W.I.T.C.H. brings its storied Zamrock sound to Grog Shop, showcasing a legacy that blends Western rock and rhythm and blues with traditional African roots. The band’s name stands for We Intend to Cause Havoc, and its influence grew as Zambia forged a post‑independence identity and local artists drew inspiration from the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, and James Brown. Rising to prominence in the 1970s, the group helped define a scene where psychedelic and hard rock found a devoted audience across the region. As Zambia faced political and economic upheaval in the mid 1970s, many bands embraced a heavier, moodier edge, and W.I.T.C.H. reflected that shift with sounds that nodded to groups like Deep Purple and Grand Funk Railroad. Their 1972 debut, Introduction, became the first commercially released album by a Zambian band, and a productive run followed before the group went quiet in the mid 1980s. A wave of reissues in 2011 brought new listeners, the band reunited in 2014, and touring resumed. In 2023 they released Zango, their first new album in nearly four decades. The original lineup featured vocalist Emanyeo “Jagari” Chanda, guitarists Chris Mbewe and John Muma, bassist Gedeon Mulenga, and drummer Boidi Sinkala, all veterans of late 1960s Zambian cover groups. Chanda’s nickname, inspired by his admiration for Mick Jagger, hints at the classic rock spirit that helped shape their sound. This is an all ages show. Local artist Mickey Mencin presents a showcase of vivid botanical prints and paintings created in her Screw Factory studio in Lakewood. A self-taught, old-school printmaker, she designs bold prints and home goods in a modern Arts and Crafts spirit, drawing on the natural world to connect traditional printmaking with graphic design. Her process begins with photographs taken outdoors, which she reshapes into graphic studies that highlight light and shadow. Each image is carved by hand into linoleum, then printed with a baren or on a Woodzilla press. Color is applied by hand so every piece becomes a uniquely finished edition. Pianist Jackie Warren grew up in Colorado and moved to Ohio to study classical piano at Oberlin Conservatory with Sedmara Zakarian Rutstein, while taking on jazz arranging, composition and theory under Wendell Logan, and further studies in jazz piano and improvisation with Neal Creque and Kenny Davis. She earned a master’s degree in classical piano performance at Cleveland State University with Andrius Kuprevicius and Daniel Barber, continued her work with Creque, and has made Cleveland her base. Volunteer with the informal Casserole Crew as they prep, make, and bake casseroles for a meal hosted by the Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless. Recipes, tools, and aprons are provided, so volunteers only need to bring themselves. You can also help beforehand by shopping for ingredients for the casseroles, then stay to chat if you can. There is a job for every experience level and for any amount of time you can offer. People are encouraged to sign up to let organizers know how they can help, but walk-ins are welcome. Beginner-friendly flamenco training at the Murphy Irish Arts Center welcomes ages 14 and up and features two complementary classes. Technique Fundamentals builds core skills with a focus on the slow tientos style to develop movement quality, along with tangos marking patterns and traveling steps. Beginner Repertory explores the traditional choreography of Sevillanas by breaking down its structure and offering approaches to personalize the form. It serves as an entry point to Spanish and flamenco dance and suits newcomers as well as those revisiting Sevillanas to deepen their practice. Each segment is available as a full session for $55 or as a $15 drop-in. Instruction is led by Marie Carr, whose background includes classical ballet and modern dance training at the School of Cleveland Ballet and Kent State University. Her flamenco studies span more than two decades, beginning in Boston with Ramón de los Reyes and his dancers, continuing in Cleveland with Libby Lubinger and performances with Fairmount Spanish Dancers, and expanding through workshops and intensives with La Romera and visiting artists including Cihtli Ocampo, LaConja, Wendy Clinard, and Marija Temo. She currently studies with Alice Lawhorn and performs with Abrepaso’s community group, En Camino.

Start from Heights Art for a friendly group bike ride covering about 8 to 10 miles at an easygoing pace. Volunteer ride leaders and support look after the group and can help with quick tune ups before heading out. The ride keeps everyone together so no one gets left behind, and it offers an easy way to meet new riding companions. Helmets are strongly encouraged.

As the television phenomenon approaches its 2026 finale, an orchestra performs McCreary’s score live while scenes from the series appear on a large screen. The concert honors the show’s heritage, its characters, and the landscapes that define it, carrying audiences across time and place through music. The program includes Echoes of The Highlands, which premiered in Scotland. Presented with Sony Pictures Television and in collaboration with Starz, this event pays tribute to a story that has resonated with audiences worldwide. Guests must be age 12 and up.

Learn what Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy is, who may face greater risk, and practical steps that can help lower that risk during an educational talk presented by Empowering Epilepsy. The program explains SUDEP as a sudden death in someone with epilepsy that is not attributed to another cause such as an accident, illness, injury, or drowning, and offers proactive strategies for individuals and families. The session features Dr. Stephen Hantus, an adult epileptologist from the Cleveland Clinic Epilepsy Center, sharing insights on SUDEP. Dana and Alden bring their Papas Boat Tour to Grog Shop, celebrating a new album shaped by early memories, far reaching travels, and the people who influenced their music. The duo builds its sound around Dana’s saxophone and Alden’s drums, grounded in jazz while folding in touches of indie, pop, rap, funk, and more. Earlier releases set the stage for this wide ranging style, and this chapter leans into bold ideas with a gentle touch. The album’s namesake is their maternal grandfather, affectionately called Papa, a retired engineer involved in manufacturing the first Fairchild semiconductors and an avid sailor. A photograph from one of his trips to Asia, where he stands in worn jorts looking toward the horizon beside a boat named Sŵn y Mr after the Welsh translation of Sound of the Sea, sparked the concept. The music aims for open waters rather than staying landlocked, reaching for freedom and expression in his spirit. This show is all ages. Tickets are $22 in advance and $25 the day of the show, with an additional $3 at the door for attendees under 21.

Empowering Epilepsy presents the Empower Your Life Conference, an educational program where participants hear from top epilepsy specialists about ways to live well with seizures. Attendees learn proactive strategies that may help reduce seizures, tips for providing clearer seizure information to a doctor, and practical steps for navigating life with epilepsy, with the goal of improving quality of life for individuals and their loved ones. In-person attendance is $25 per person, which covers breakfast and lunch, and virtual attendance is $12.50 per person to cover video costs. Sponsorships are available on an as needed basis for anyone living with epilepsy.

At Asia Plaza, the latest Flower City Open chess tournament brings together players of all levels for a quarterly competition presented by Cleveland Chess Club in collaboration with Starvation Army Zine and supported by Flower City Gift Shop and Earth Bistro Cafe. The event features a four round Swiss format and is USCF rated, and there is also a non USCF section. Sections include Open, Under 1600, and Under 1000, along with the non USCF section. The entry fee is 20 dollars. A guaranteed 500 dollar prize fund is shared across all sections. Open awards total 200 dollars with 120 for first and 80 for second, the Under 1600 section offers 130 dollars with 80 for first and 50 for second, the Under 1000 section offers 100 dollars with 60 for first and 40 for second, and the non USCF section offers 70 dollars with 40 for first and 30 for second. USCF members and non members are welcome. Enjoy an evening of Latin jazz at B Side Lounge with the Sammy DeLeon and Jackie Warren Quartet, featuring Kip Reed and Chris Burge. DeLeon, a Lorain-born timbales player and longtime presence in Northeast Ohio’s Latin jazz community, began performing professionally as a teenager, appeared with Cobra, Orquesta Charambo, and Impacto Nuevo, and now leads Sammy DeLeon y Su Orquesta. He has shared bills with artists including El Gran Combo, Tito Rojas, and Tony Vega, and is known for mentoring student percussionists in Latin rhythms. Warren, a Colorado native, studied classical piano at Oberlin Conservatory and earned a master’s degree from Cleveland State University while deepening her jazz studies. She performs as a soloist, leads a trio with Peter Dominguez and Ron Godale, collaborates frequently with DeLeon’s salsa and Latin jazz projects, and has performed with artists such as David “Fathead” Newman, Clark Terry, Frank Morgan, Bobby Watson, Tito Puente, Jr., and many others. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.

SKOL sets the tone as the Viking Races return for their fourth year at the South Mastick Picnic Area in Rocky River Reservation. This fall tradition blends road and trail sections on a flat, picturesque course and welcomes both solo runners and teams. Participants can choose from a 6 hour run, a 6 hour relay for two person teams, a 3 hour run, a 4 mile run, or a 4 mile relay for two person teams. Every runner receives a Viking themed bib, a finisher medal, a long sleeve Viking Races shirt, race photos, post race snacks and drinks, and awards.
