Settle into the Crafty Canary Creativity Corner at Little Birdie Wine Nest for a one hour, hands-on resin crafting class led by a local artist. You will learn step by step how to design and pour your own resin bookmarks while working with premium materials and helpful guidance throughout. All supplies are provided, including three custom bookmark molds in different sizes, beach themed inclusions, and the tools and embellishments needed to personalize your pieces. This workshop welcomes beginners of all ages and skill levels, with friendly instruction and tips to help your project shine. Teen Night at the Courts
Teens take over the Beachwood Pickleball Courts for a night of games and music. Activities include pickleball, volleyball, yard games, and Gaga Ball, with a live DJ setting the soundtrack and complimentary snacks available. Admission is free for ages 12 to 17. Sponsored by T3 Performance.

City Stages: Kaleta & Super Yamba Band
City Stages turns the street in front of Transformer Station into a lively celebration of global music. This installment spotlights Kaleta & Super Yamba Band, led by Afrobeat and juju veteran Leon Ligan-Majek, known as Kaleta, a singer and guitarist from Benin who came of age in Lagos, the birthplace of Afrobeat. His résumé includes years of touring and recording with Fela Kuti, King Sunny Ade, and Lauryn Hill, and the Super Yamba musicians bring experience from collaborations with artists such as David Byrne, Rubblebucket, Yeasayer, and Between the Buried and Me. Make a night of it with dinner and drinks at Ohio City bars and restaurants or a stop at local shops, then relax in the Transformer Station beer garden with tacos from Puente’s Tijuana Tacos. Older Siblings Day opens the playspace to big brothers and sisters so they can get hands-on with younger siblings through building, digging, and discovery. Older children of any age may participate when they are with a sibling who is 7 or younger, and their admission follows the same policy as visitors age 7 and under. This opportunity is available every third Wednesday for the full day, and no special reservation is required. The focus is on whole-family play that nurtures confidence, problem solving, and resilience for all ages. At Willow Run Market in Lakewood, this relaxing mixed-media workshop centers on creating three small Comfort Stones and stamping three muslin gift bags to hold them. The format is relaxed and social, with a one-time $1 registration at a player’s first meet that covers an eight-week season. Formed in 2017 in Gainesville, Florida, the group tours nationwide and features singer songwriter Shawn Scheller of Save The Radio!, together with a lineup of seasoned players devoted to the sound and spirit of a Tom Petty live show. Howie Smith has performed and taught across the United States, Canada, South America, Europe, and Australia, collaborating with artists and ensembles such as Anthony Braxton, Gary Burton, Dizzy Gillespie, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Elvis Presley, Pauline Oliveros, the Cleveland Orchestra, and the Tone Road Ramblers. His recordings span a wide range of styles, and his compositions include works for big bands, small groups, strings, winds, percussion, electronics, and mixed media. He is a professor emeritus at Cleveland State University, where he led jazz studies for decades and also served as chair of the Art Department, and he has been a Yamaha artist and clinician since 1971. Theron Brown draws on gospel, jazz, and soul influences, aiming to encourage and uplift through his music. Born in Zanesville and based in Akron, he serves as artist coordinator for Curated Storefront, artist director at the I Promise School, and founder and artistic director of the Rubber City Jazz & Blues Festival in downtown Akron. He appeared as a young Herbie Hancock in the film Miles Ahead, released in 2016 and directed by and starring Don Cheadle. His debut album, No Concepts, arrived in 2019, and he is currently working on a follow-up titled Spirit Fruit, inspired by Galatians 5:22-23 and centered on qualities that foster positive energy. Aidan Plank, an Oberlin native, performs a wide spectrum of music throughout Northern Ohio. He studied with bassist and composer David Morgan and with Kevin Switalski of the Cleveland Orchestra, and he is a graduate of Cleveland State University. His performance credits include Dan Wall, Joe Lovano, Judi Silvano, Joe Maneri, Janis Siegel, Frankie Avalon, and Tierney Sutton. He has appeared on baroque bass in the premiere of Joseph-Nicolas-Pancrace Royer’s Le Pouvoir de l’Amour at Oberlin College and in the world premiere of the ‘pop-up’ opera Frozen Community with Real Time Opera. Alongside work with the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, he explores improvisation in a duo setting with guitarist Daniel Lippel.

Certainly So performs at Beachland Tavern, bringing a sound shaped by childhood friends Tanner Gray and Colby Wilson from Birmingham, Alabama. Their songs blend close harmonies with thoughtful storytelling, drawing on influences that span The Beatles, The Beach Boys, the Grateful Dead, Vampire Weekend, and John Mayer. Bassist Chase Porter and drummer Zach Corder round out the lineup, completing a partnership that took root after the duo reconnected and shared demos that led to the group’s formation in 2019. The band began recording with producer and engineer Toby Hulbert, whose background includes time at Abbey Road and work in Nashville, and with engineer Colin Lott at East Avalon in Muscle Shoals. Those sessions produced the debut album Future Self Only Dreams, followed by Dreams of Green, a companion project recorded at home in the Inglewood neighborhood of Nashville and released in 2022. Subsequent singles Alabama Blues and Tired For a Living preceded the 10 song album Probably Not in 2024. Along the way, Certainly So has shared stages with artists such as Brett Dennen, Shaky Graves, Fruition, The 502s, The Strumbellas, The Stews, Penelope Road, Eggy, Molowda and the Humble, and Ritchy Mitch & the Coal Miners, and appeared at festivals including Shaky Knees, SweetWater 420 Fest, Bourbon & Beyond, and SXSW.

Presented with support from New Balance Running, Fleet Feet Cleveland, and GCXC Racing, this timed race offers awards to the top three overall men, the top three overall women, and a special prize for the 216th finisher. Every participant receives a race shirt and a finisher medal. New Balance will host an on site shoe demo, and anyone who completes the 5K in a demo pair and is present for the drawing will be entered for a chance to win a pair of running shoes. Two winners will be selected at random. Demo sizes and quantities are limited, so arriving early improves the chance to secure a pair. The drawing will take place at the end of the race or once all demo shoes have crossed the finish line, whichever comes first.

Team Prodigy 216 celebrates a decade in the Cleveland car community with its tenth car show, bringing enthusiasts together for a welcoming, family friendly atmosphere. The event features a DJ, food vendors, prizes, a 50/50, and plenty of trophies. Car clubs are encouraged to arrive as a group and represent together. Attendance and displaying a vehicle are free. To be eligible for awards, day-of, in-person registration for judging is required at a cost of 20 dollars, or 15 dollars with canned or other nonperishable food donations for the Cleveland Food Bank. Donations will also be collected for Blood Cancers United, formerly known as the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Awards are planned to include Top 25 selections, specialty categories such as lady driven, kids choice, people’s choice and best club or team, several sponsor picks, and an overall Best in Show. These awards are listed as tentative. There is no advance or online registration, and attendees are advised to ignore anyone attempting to collect registration fees through comments or messages. Event guidelines focus on safety, respect, and courtesy. Two stepping, blasting loud music, engine revving, burnouts, and any show of power in the show area are not allowed, and rolling coal is prohibited. Drugs, alcohol, and firearms are forbidden on or around the venue. Reckless behavior on or near the property can lead to removal and, if necessary, involvement of local authorities. Political, divisive, or hateful displays are not permitted. For everyone’s comfort, bikes, skateboards, scooters, and grilling are not allowed. Dogs must be leashed and kept out from between vehicles. Please keep children close and ensure they do not touch or climb on the cars. Experience Cain Park’s Stage on Stage setup, where the audience sits right on the stage for an up-close concert with the Greg Banaszak All-Star Northeast Ohio Quintet featuring guest guitarist Rich Goldstein. Alto saxophonist Greg Banaszak, a professor at Case and CIM, brings extensive credentials in both jazz and classical music. He studied at the Hartt School of Music with Jackie McLean and has performed across North America as well as in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and South America. Equally at home in hard bop and contemporary fusion settings or appearing as a soloist with classical orchestras, he has also been featured in the Cleveland area with Matthew Alec’s Soul Electric Band. The lineup includes trombonist Chris Anderson, a member of the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra with teaching experience at Oberlin Conservatory, alongside pianist Joe Leaman, bassist Aidan Plank, and drummer and percussionist Patrick “Duke” Graney. Featured guest Rich Goldstein serves on the faculty of the Hartt School of Music in Hartford and has shared the stage with Houston Person, Steve Davis, Javon Jackson, Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez, and Jaimoe, as well as regular duo performances with Andy LaVerne. The program offers a blend of jazz standards and original pieces as the group prepares for an upcoming tour to Mumbai at India’s National Center for the Performing Arts. Night Terrors presents an ever-shifting sound world where electric guitar, resonant gongs, singing bowls, drum set, and occasional viola colors flow between open improvisation and carefully crafted passages. Guitarist Tim Mirth and percussionist Paul Stranahan shape evolving movements and layered textures, drawing from avant garde ideas, jazz language, and metal energy to move from intense surges to calm, contemplative waves. Their collaboration has yielded two recordings, including the double album Hear Again and an earlier self-titled release. Mirth, an Akron-based musician, spans styles from jazz to extreme metal to singer songwriter traditions, performing in projects such as Red Side Visible, ensembles with Stranahan, Ceterum, solo sets, and classical recitals while pursuing deep studies in harmony and rhythm alongside a career in electrical engineering. Stranahan is a percussionist, composer, and teacher who leads the Paul Stranahan Trio, the fusion outfit PSI, and this experimental project, with highlights that include performances at FIMU in Belfort, France and a double album centered on gong and singing bowl improvisations.

AIA Cleveland’s annual beach fundraiser blends a friendly volleyball tournament with imaginative sandcastle building to support the ACE Mentor Program scholarship fund. Set at Edgewater Beach just west of Downtown Cleveland, this signature gathering offers architects and designers a chance to connect with the public in the sand. This edition embraces the theme Cleveland in the Year 3000, inviting both competitors and spectators to picture a far-future city, from neighborhoods floating over Lake Erie to gardens climbing skyscrapers, stadiums powered by clean energy, and travel that takes to the air. Teams can bring these ideas to life through their sculptures while reimagining Cleveland’s landmarks and transportation of tomorrow. Last year, the event raised $8,669 for ACE. In the sandcastle competition, Vocon earned top honors and best of the beach, AECOM placed second, and Bowen and RDL Architects received honorable mentions. On the volleyball court, DiGeronimo Companies took first place and Perspectus Architecture finished second. Sponsorship opportunities are available at multiple levels and include team registration benefits. Early bird registration and a final registration deadline are noted, and rules for both competitions may include updates that participants should review. All proceeds support the ACE Mentor Program, an after-school initiative that connects fourteen CMSD student teams with architecture, construction, and engineering professionals to respond to a Cleveland-based RFP and to explore careers in design and construction. Faced with continual trials, he chooses righteousness over personal desire. The performance unfolds with live Indian music and honors one of the world’s enduring epics in dialogue with the CMA exhibition Epic of the Northwest Himalayas: Pahari Paintings from the “Shangri” Ramayana. Produced by Bharatanatyam artist Sujatha Srinivasan, an award-winning choreographer and artistic director of Shri Kalaa Mandir Dance Company, the program features accomplished dancers supported by a live ensemble. Srinivasan is an internationally acclaimed dancer, choreographer, and educator whose artistry has significantly shaped Indian classical dance in North America. Since moving to Ohio in 1993, she has advanced Bharatanatyam as founder and artistic director of Shri Kalaa Mandir, Center for Indian Performing Arts, in Cleveland. Recognized for mastery of the graceful Vazhuvoor lineage, her award-winning choreography bridges tradition and innovation through works that foreground composers, embrace multimedia, and welcome cross-genre collaboration. Over more than three decades, her work has earned notable honors, including the 2026 Ohio Arts Council Traditional Arts Apprenticeship grant, the Individual Excellence Award for Choreography and the Ohio Heritage Fellowship from the Ohio Arts Council in 2024, the Cleveland Arts Prize, Martha Joseph Prize, in 2022, and the title of Arts Education Champion. She also holds the titles Nrithya Seva Mani, Nritya Ratnakara, and Sambrama Puraskar. Vocalist Kaniyal Hariprasad, a longtime Kalakshetra alumnus, is among the most in-demand voices for dance. Superelectric Pinball Parlor presents the second season of Super Sundays, a family friendly pinball league that welcomes players of every experience level. The league runs for six weeks, and each meet features five rounds of group match play with groups and machines assigned at random by the league software. Scoring follows a 5, 3, 2, 1 format, and points from each meet add up across the season. Only the best four results count toward the final total, so you can miss two meets without affecting your standings. Registration is $10. There is an $8 all day play option, and a $25 play pass for a family of four. Sign ups take place on site before play begins. The league uses the Match Play Events website, so there is nothing to download. The season concludes with playoffs across three skill divisions, A, B, and C, each with eight competitors. Finals use a two round PAPA style group elimination format with three games per round and 4, 2, 1, 0 scoring. The top two players from each semifinal group advance to the final, and prizes are awarded to the top four in every division. There is a planned break during the season for the Superelectric Pinball battle.

Barry’s latest album, Spring Hill, begins with the track Ain’t Much For Talking and delivers plainspoken storytelling, hard-won reflection, and flashes of sharp humor, centering on where he has been and where he is now following The Roads To Richmond. At Cain Park’s Evans Amphitheater, the Workmen’s Circle Yiddish Concert in the Park brings together a three-part lineup featuring George Foley, Mekimi, and Schmaltz. The program starts with pianist and vocalist George Foley, a longtime presence in Northeast Ohio whose classical training supports a repertoire that includes ragtime, jazz, and the Great American Songbook, with past appearances at spots like Nighttown, the Barking Spider, and Hyde Park. Next up is Mekimi, a University Heights band that blends modern Hebrew music with classic rock, with a history of performances at Cain Park, local synagogues, the Milky Way and Fiama’s restaurants, neighborhood street concerts, a live-streamed show during Covid, and a benefit for Magen David Adom Israel Emergency Services. Schmaltz closes the evening. Based in Ann Arbor, this modern klezmer ensemble weaves elements of jazz, Balkan, funk, Latin, and polka into traditional Jewish music. Their debut album, The Seltzer Man, highlights original compositions, improvisation, and a horn-forward sound, and the group has strong ties to the University of Michigan’s School of Music, Theater & Dance. Admission is free, and seating is first come, first served.

Formed in 2011 by Kent State University wind faculty, whose campus is known for its black squirrels, the ensemble brings together founding members Danna Sundet, Amitai Vardi, and Mark DeMio, now joined by Suyeon Ko on flute and Ben Hottensmith on horn. The group appears in educational recordings on YouTube and has presented hundreds of concerts across the greater Cleveland area. Grog Shop presents a night of uncompromising black metal featuring Profanatica with Cloak and Kurnugia. The show is open to all ages. The band is led by drummer and vocalist Paul Ledney, who has steered its vision for nearly thirty-three years. He launched the group after departing the first Incantation lineup, taking all members except John McEntee. That original trio of former Incantation players quickly issued three influential demos and became notorious across the tape-trading underground for provocative flyers. They soon signed with the then-new Osmose Productions, contributing a split release with Colombia’s Masacre that arrived as the label’s fifth offering.
