Toledo Takes on ALS
Now in its fourth year, Toledo Takes On ALS brings the community to Fifth Third Field for a summer tasting experience that supports ALS research. Attendees can sample from more than 30 craft breweries, cideries, and wineries, spanning local favorites and national brands, while taking part in raffles and silent auctions. Admission is $20 and includes one drink ticket and a souvenir tasting cup. Beer and cider are poured in 10 ounce servings, and wine is poured in 4 ounce servings. Additional tasting tickets are available for purchase on the main concourse. Hosted by the Schinharl, Katterheinrich, and Welling families and friends, the evening emphasizes connection, generosity, and hope, with all proceeds benefiting ALS research through the ALS Therapy Development Institute.

Enjoy a free intermediate line dancing session tailored for adults 55 and older at the Margaret Hunt Senior Center. It is designed for dancers who already have some experience and recognize the names of basic steps, so it is not a beginner class. Those new to line dancing can look for an Absolute Beginner option. Throughout the season, each month focuses on a different theme, including Early American Indian history in June, wars, battles, and forts in July, Early Toledo from the 1830s through the turn of the century in August, and the city’s 20th century chapters in September. Season 9 of the Toledo Pinball League features six qualifying meetups held every other week, followed by a finals week. Entry is $15, with payouts distributed during the finals after IFPA fees and trophy costs are covered. Each session includes five games played in groups of four. Only a player’s best four results from the six qualifiers count toward standings, so up to two low or missed weeks are dropped. Seeding for the first week follows IFPA rankings, and after that it is based on each player’s average points from the weeks they attend. For the finals, about the top half of the field advances to group elimination with three games per round. Byes may be used depending on turnout, and details are subject to change. The remaining players compete in B finals, carrying over qualifying points into seven rounds of group match play, also subject to change.

Athletes take center stage in a fully sanctioned, Jeep-themed strongman showcase that pushes strength and endurance to new heights. Inspired by Jeep vehicles and the off-road spirit, the competition features a series of powerful tests. Competitors aim for maximum repetitions in a one minute mud tire deadlift. A yoke carry challenges athletes to cover 100 feet with weight across the shoulders. A car axle fitted with a mud tire is cleaned and pressed overhead for as many reps as possible within a minute. In a fast-paced pull, athletes are strapped to the front of a Jeep and haul it 50 feet for the best time. The medley rounds things out with three sandbags that must be lifted, carried, and loaded over a bar as quickly as possible. In addition to showcasing grit and determination, the event raises awareness and support for mental health and suicide prevention programs that serve veterans and First Responders, honoring these everyday heroes through community spirit and resilience.

Eerie Excursions hosts an evening of paranormal exploration inside Mortuary Manor, a former funeral home in Toledo that once operated as the Urbanski Funeral Home. Much of the building remains as it was, from former viewing rooms and preparation areas to quiet corridors that investigators traverse after dark. Previous visitors have described shadows sliding along walls, sudden drops in temperature, footsteps echoing through empty hallways, and the unsettling sense of being watched. Participants can select from several formats. A flashlight tour provides a guided walkthrough with history of the site and accounts of reported activity. The four hour public investigation begins with a brief introduction and walkthrough, then shifts to free roam exploration. The eight hour overnight option offers extended time as the night unfolds, and this format is limited to 20 guests for a more focused experience. No prior experience is required. Investigation techniques and commonly used equipment are explained at the start, and experienced investigators may bring their own gear. As one of Ohio’s newer locations for haunted investigation, Mortuary Manor has seen limited documentation, so early offerings are expected to fill quickly.

TARCAR hosts a memorial trophy race honoring off-road racers who have passed. No club membership is required to compete, and the track welcomes everyone. The program includes practice sessions with dedicated time for electric and for nitro, followed by racing. Food will be available on site. Trophies will be presented to the top three in each class. Overnight camping is welcome. Entry fees are 35, 20, and 10 dollars for non-members, and 25, 20, and 10 dollars for members.

Working trucks and show-ready builds roll into Rossford for the inaugural Whiteford Kenworth Truck Show, welcoming owner-operators and fleets alike. Entries are organized into Combo truck and trailer, Bobtail tractor only, Vocational such as dump, straight and work trucks, Towing and Recovery heavy duty, and Vintage vehicles 25 years or older. Awards will be presented in every class, along with Best in Show and People’s Choice. Admission is free and the atmosphere is family friendly. Participants are strongly encouraged to pre-register by emailing whitefordkwshow@lglk.com with the owner or driver name, phone number, city and state, truck year, make, model and engine, and the preferred show class. The Rossford dealership will have Parts and Service available during regular business hours. This gathering celebrates the trucks and drivers that keep the industry moving.
TTT's Doubles Baker's Battle ($1,200 First Place)
A scratch Baker doubles tournament at Penny Jo's Eastern Lanes features a $1,200 top prize with a full field and a 1-in-5 payout. Teams of two may be any combination, and entry is $80 per team. The event is limited to 48 teams and will be contested on the house pattern. All teams bowl six qualifying Baker games while moving pairs, then the top finishers, determined by the number of entries, advance to Baker match play.
