Free events in Lawton, OK

A back to school bash takes place at the CYS Youth Center and offers complimentary school supplies, information about local schools, educational resources, giveaways, and activities for kids. Admission is free. Attendees can meet local schools and community organizations and speak with representatives from colleges and universities. Participating booths include Lawton Public Schools, Bishop Schools, and Cameron University, with additional education booths from Cameron University, Columbia College, and Upper Iowa University. Supplies are available while quantities last. Open exclusively to DoD cardholders. If children are not present, each cardholder may receive up to two backpacks. Sponsored by Corvias. Join the year-round weekly Gardening Forum at the Lawton Farmers Market. Hosted by local gardeners, farmers, and master gardeners, this free, public event runs through a variety of gardening topics, with tips and practical tricks you can use right away. The forum meets in the Terry Bell Classroom.

Weather permitting, a show and shine gathering is planned for Cache Road Square. There is no charge and no sign-up is needed. The event is family oriented, so please keep engine revving and music at a reasonable level.

The Community Garden Club launches at the Health Department as a welcoming space focused on fresh food access, nutrition, and bringing neighbors together. This free gathering spotlights how shared gardens can support health by expanding access to fresh produce, building nutrition skills, easing stress, and strengthening community ties. Everyone is welcome.
