The ride is a way to rally around her recovery and show solidarity in true Guard Dogs spirit.

Fires Fitness Center and CYS Youth Sports & Fitness present a youth climbing program that builds confidence, sharpens technique, and puts speed to the test on the wall. Participants receive coaching and practice time before facing a final speed challenge. Medals are awarded to the three fastest climbers in each age bracket. Age groups include 5 to 8, 9 to 11, and 12 and older. The program takes place at Fires Fitness Center, with practice held on weekdays and a concluding competition at the end of the week. Sweet Home Cleaning Pros is leading a Fill the Backpack Community Drive to support students in and around Elgin with the supplies they need for a confident start to the school year. The effort already includes partners such as Simply Clean by KD, Wayne’s Welding Works, and W&J Service Pros, with additional collaborators on the way. New school supplies and backpacks are being collected for children in local communities, and families will be able to pick up donated items at multiple distribution locations once the drive concludes. Donations may include backpacks, with clear or mesh options requested for some lower grades and standard styles for high school, as well as notebooks, loose leaf paper, folders of various colors, pencils and pens, crayons and colored pencils, markers, glue sticks, scissors, pencil boxes or pouches, highlighters, dry erase markers, tissues, and hand sanitizer. Prepare for Nutcracker lead auditions with focused workshops that teach the combinations in advance. Each session is $20. Attending the workshops is optional for auditioning because the combinations will also be taught during auditions. Dancers do not need to be current students to participate in the workshops or the auditions, and anyone chosen for a lead will need to enroll. Advance registration is required and space is limited. One works on Tea from China, Lead Chinese, Hot Chocolate from Spain, Lead Spanish, Columbine Doll, and Toy Soldier Doll. Candy Canes is a corps group for ages 10 and up with pointe required. Arabian is a trio for ages 13 and up, with pointe a plus. Lead Russian is a solo for ages 15 and up with pointe required. The Lawton Philharmonic Orchestra opens its new season at McMahon Memorial Auditorium with a Classic Pops program that flows from French showpieces to favorite music from stage and screen. The concert begins with Berlioz’s Rákóczy March from The Damnation of Faust, selections from Bizet’s Carmen Suite No. 1, Satie’s Gymnopédie, and Chabrier’s España, then moves to crowd-pleasers including Bernstein’s theme from The Magnificent Seven, Leroy Anderson’s The Waltzing Cat, music from Rodgers’ South Pacific, and John Williams’ Fiddler on the Roof featuring guest violinist Marat Gabdulin. The evening builds to a cinematic finish with Williams’ E.T. Adventures on Earth. Jon Kalbfleisch conducts as Music Director and Conductor, and the performance welcomes audiences back to a recently updated auditorium for a season celebrating Pops, Tango and Passion.
McMahon Memorial AuditoriumAlien 8K Run (2026 Run Series)
An out-of-this-world nighttime 8K is touching down at Lake Elmer Thomas Recreation Area, bringing extraterrestrial flair to Fort Sill with options to run, ruck, or take a relaxed walk under the stars. Registered participants receive an event T-shirt, a themed bib, and a finisher medal, with an additional ruck patch for those in the ruck division. The Alien 8K medal is part of the 2026 Fort Sill Run Series collection and links with other themed medals released throughout the year. Registration is $35 before it increases to $45, and entry is limited to the first 500 participants. Ruck division standards require a minimum of 15 pounds for women and 25 pounds for men. Team up for a Baker-format doubles tournament at Twin Oaks Bowling Center as the school season gets underway. Each two-person team bowls a four-game qualifying set, then the top half of the field moves on to an eliminator-style final to decide the champions. Experience a guided kayaking outing at Lake Elmer Thomas Recreation Area with seasonal tours that offer a two-hour lake excursion. These tours are open to ages 8 and up.
