Participants work on basics such as serves and backhand volleys through easy-to-follow drills and simple games. It is free to attend and led by Coach Lar, with a focus on helping anyone who considers themselves a beginner get started.

Build your country swing skills in a welcoming Level 1 class at Shawn Gardner Dancing in Tigard. Each session covers core techniques such as footwork and turns, using steady practice to reinforce fundamentals while adding fresh variations as the month goes on. No partner is necessary because partners rotate during class. Wear comfortable, casual clothing since special shoes or attire are not required. Beginners are encouraged to start in the first or second week of the month, as the material progresses. Attendance is open to everyone, and drop-in participation is available. The cost is $20 for a single visit or included with membership, and newcomers can enjoy a free week pass. The studio also offers many dance and fitness options throughout the week.
