TrailJams Trad Irish Slow Session - Cook Park

Enjoy a relaxed traditional Irish music session in the Butterfly Garden at Cook Park, where slow to moderate tempos and a welcoming vibe make space for players to settle into the tunes. These outdoor gatherings take place weekly from June through September, weather permitting. Musicians meet on the lawn near Shelter 4, choosing sun or shade as the day suggests, and moving under the shelter if it rains. Bring a chair and an instrument. Anyone can call the next tune or set, and the group’s Tune of the Week may make an appearance. The focus is on playing by ear and from memory rather than sight reading, though referring to sheet music is fine. Typical acoustic instruments include fiddle, concertina, guitar, bodhran, tin whistle, flute, and mandolin. There is no formal audience, but people in the park often pause to listen and sometimes settle nearby. The park is an easy place to add a walk or picnic before or after the music, and companions have room to wander among trees, trails, and the river if they want a break from the tunes. There is no strict end time, so the music can continue if the energy is there. Nearby options for food and drink in downtown Tigard make for a simple post-session stop.

Disney's Newsies

At Deb Fennell Auditorium, Disney’s Newsies brings the grit and heart of New York City’s newsboys to the stage. Jack Kelly, a bold young leader, rallies his fellow newsboys when newspaper publishers raise distribution rates at their expense, igniting a citywide strike that champions fairness and the strength of standing together. The production bursts with energetic dance numbers, rousing songs, and themes of friendship and solidarity. The musical features a score by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman, and a book by Harvey Fierstein. It is inspired by the Disney film by Bob Tzudiker and Noni White and was originally produced on Broadway by Disney Theatrical Productions. This intimate song circle centers those who resonate with the Mother archetype, inviting a gentle return to shared ritual through voice and presence. The aim is not polished performance but authentic sound that nourishes care, connection, and creation. Participants move between sauna and cold water if they wish, using heat and cold as supportive elements. Inside the sauna, the group practices guided self-massage to soften the body, then explores embodied toning to awaken the voice, followed by simple call-and-response songs with space for reflection and sharing. No prior singing experience is needed. The container is guided yet flexible, encouraging choice at every step and holding room for open hearts and compassionate witnessing without trying to fix or change anyone’s experience. The group is limited to an intimate circle of 12 women, and the cost is $25 per person. It is open to anyone who identifies with the mother archetype in any way, including mothers of living or nonliving children and mothers of nonhuman beings. Arriving early to settle in is encouraged. Plan to enter the sauna clean and dry, without oils or lotions, which may mean showering and drying off beforehand. A robe, two towels, and sandals are recommended. Pegasus Puppet Theatre brings East of the Sun & West of the Moon to a summer performers-in-the-park series, offering a fairy tale performance suited for children of any age. 10th Annual Wizarding Tea

Board the Hogwarts Express from platform nine and three quarters and travel to the Leaky Teapot for a wizard-themed tea experience. Classes run at the top of each hour according to the time on your ticket, and tardiness may cost your house valuable points. Points can be earned by dressing in wizarding attire and by tackling quizzes, so a bit of study goes a long way. The house with the highest total will see its banner displayed in the tearoom for the year. Tuition is due at the time of registration. If you have dietary needs for the house elves to accommodate, include those when submitting the acceptance letter reservation. For the comfort of all, love potions and any fragrances are not permitted on the train or at the destination. Seating is community style at tables of ten, echoing the spirit of the Great Hall.

Mini Dance Camps

Kids ages 5 to 10 can dive into ballet and jazz in a playful, supportive setting at a My Gym mini dance camp. Over two hours, campers enjoy dance instruction, a themed craft project, and time to explore the gym. Space is limited to 10 participants for personalized attention. Sessions can be taken individually or as a series, with rotating themes that include Superhero Dance Academy, K-Pop Demon Hunters, and Wicked. The cost is $30 per session.

Porchfest Concert Series, Phosphene & Meridian Green

Porchfest brings free performances to porches, driveways, and public spaces across Milwaukie, encouraging people to explore by foot or bike, meet neighbors, and share their talents. Dozens of intimate concerts pop up throughout the city, showcasing a wide range of acts that have included bagpipers, actors, rock bands, comedy, brass ensembles, and outdoor drag. At SaunaGlo, this concert features Phosphene and Meridian Green. Phosphene blends indie rock, shoegaze, dream pop, and folk into textured, melodic songs, with Big Takeover highlighting their album for transforming personal and collective experiences into a vivid, connective sound. Meridian Green is a performing songwriter and community organizer who advocates for ancient redwoods, pygmy forests, and wild rivers. Her Cascadia-influenced folk fusion draws on old country paths and earthy rhythms, weaving the deeply personal together with the openly political. Everyone is encouraged to help fill Milwaukie with performance art.

The Beaverton Community Expo brings neighbors and local businesses together at City Fountain Park beside the Farmers Market. With approximately 6,000 shoppers visiting the market, the expo enjoys steady foot traffic and a lively setting that benefits participants and attendees alike. Youth entrepreneurs are featured again, with vendors ages 6 to 17 selling handcrafted items, and an adult must be present with each young vendor throughout the event. Group Riding Orientation

Riders looking to travel in formation can take part in a one hour Group Riding Orientation hosted by the Sunset Chapter of H.O.G. Sunset Road Captains lead the session, explaining common terminology and sharing techniques that support safety and comfort when riding with other motorcyclists. Both new and experienced riders are welcome. After the briefing, participants can put their skills to use on a Sunset Chapter ride. This orientation is offered throughout the riding season.

Sunset Chapter (formerly Mystery) Ride

Set out on a surprise destination ride starting at Steelhead Harley-Davidson. Guests are welcome. The Lead Road Captain will share the route at the start of the ride, with a typical pace covering roughly 60 to 100 miles over about two to three hours. The group returns to Steelhead Harley-Davidson to coincide with the Sizzlin' Saturday event and enjoy a hotdog lunch.

Odd Fellows Samaritan Lodge #2

Harmony Workshop for Musical Theater

Harmony Workshop for Musical Theater offers a focused, supportive space to develop ensemble singing at Samaritan Odd Fellows Lodge. Over three hours with two 15 minute breaks, participants explore harmony centered vocal warmups and exercises, practice solfège and interval training, and learn core principles that help tune into their own voice as well as the voices around them. The group will work on listening, blending, and applying specific techniques for harmonizing in a musical theater ensemble, then workshop short sections of popular musical theater songs in two and three part harmony. This workshop welcomes singers age 16 and older who have solid pitch but find harmonies challenging in group settings, anyone interested in understanding the music theory behind harmony, and musical theater performers seeking to strengthen chorus and ensemble work on stage. Tuition is a $5 to $20 sliding scale, and all proceeds go to the instructor. Space is limited to 20 participants, and payment is required to reserve a spot. Her performance background includes tours in New Orleans, Europe, and China, as well as competitions in Arkansas, Arizona, and Kansas. The workshop aims to build confidence in harmony singing. Presented by Torchsong Entertainment, a local production company formed in 2015 with a mission to bring new musical works written and performed by local artists to the greater Portland area. The team creates cabarets and original rock musicals.

Bunny Yoga

Bunny Yoga pairs a gentle, restorative class led by instructor Cindy Lindsley with the calming presence of rescued rabbits at THPRD Cedar Hills Recreation Center. Two sessions are available, each featuring a one hour practice followed by 30 minutes of quiet rabbit-assisted relaxation. Tickets are $45, and all proceeds support the rabbits’ care and benefit Rose City Rabbit Rescue. The event welcomes ages 12 and up, with participants under 16 attending alongside an adult. Hello Annyeong Korea Culture Festival

Marking the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence, this festival gathers Oregon communities to explore and celebrate Korean culture in a lively, welcoming setting. The program features K-pop and traditional Korean music performances, a hanbok fashion showcase with designers recognized internationally, and a community market spotlighting Korean beauty, fashion, and lifestyle. It is designed to encourage connection, cultural exchange, and shared experiences for people of all ages. Presented in partnership by the Korean Society of Oregon, the Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles, and the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Seattle, in collaboration with Seattle Bazart.

Sapphic Singles

At June, this welcoming gathering is created for queer women, sapphics, trans and nonbinary people. It is not structured as speed dating. Instead, participants rotate through small groups of three to six and take part in friendly activities such as conversation prompts, trivia, hands-on crafts and puzzles. The format encourages both new friendships and potential romantic connections while strengthening community through easygoing conversation and shared play. Photography will occur during the event, and attendance signifies consent for images to be used for future promotional purposes.

Attend once a week or add a second weekly class if you want to improve faster. The class is open to everyone. Drop in for $25 for the 90 minute combo, or participate through a membership. Separate beginner Bachata and beginner Salsa classes are also offered on Thursdays, each one hour with a $20 drop in or included with membership. A free one week pass is available to sample all classes and events for seven days. This class takes place at Shawn Gardner Dancing, where you can meet new people, get some exercise, and enjoy learning something new.

Concerts in the Round returns to The Round in Beaverton with a free, family-friendly evening of live music, dancing, and easygoing summer vibes. Spread a picnic blanket, settle into a chair, and enjoy local eats while Return Flight powers the night with high-energy classic rock, pop favorites, and dance hits that keep crowds singing along. Wine, beer, and cider will be available for purchase. Bring chairs, blankets, appetites, and your best dance moves. Please do not bring dogs, umbrellas, coolers, or outside alcohol.

Coed 4s Sand Tournament

Coed 4s teams compete on the Cedar Hills Park sand courts with pool play to start, followed by a double-elimination bracket where every team advances. USAV Beach rules will be used, and prizes go to the first-place team in each bracket. Entry is $120 per team. Registration is first come, first served, and a spot can be requested by posting or by emailing Geoff Schwind at g.schwind@thprd.org. A captains meeting will take place before matches begin, and payment is due by the posted deadline.

Car Toys Clackamas hosts a 3X SPL event featuring IdBL, Bass Boxing, and Demo Boxing. On-site registration is available, and preregistration is offered at a reduced rate. The cost is $20 for a single visit, or it is included with a membership. TUESDAY Line Dancing in Tigard

In Tigard, newcomers can step into line dancing with a welcoming beginner lesson that covers two beginner-friendly routines, taught step by step by instructor Kat Nichols to build confidence. After the lesson, there is a guided open dance designed for beginners, with the instructor on the microphone cueing steps as music plays nonstop, creating the feel of a night out in a format made for first-timers. When the lessons conclude, participants can keep line dancing or head to the social in the main room featuring Country Swing, West Coast Swing, and Country Two Step. Open to ages 16 and up. TrailJams Trad Irish Slow Session - Cook Park

A relaxed traditional Irish session fills the Butterfly Garden at Cook Park, with tunes played at a comfortable pace in a sociable setting. These gatherings take place weekly from June through September, weather permitting. Bring a chair and your instrument. Musicians meet on the lawn near Shelter 4 at the entrance to the Butterfly Garden, choosing shade on warm days, sun on cool days, and moving under the shelter if it rains. This is a musician-focused get-together rather than a performance, though people passing by often pause to listen and some settle nearby. Anyone may propose the next tune or set, and players are encouraged to learn by ear and from memory, with sheet music allowed when needed. Typical acoustic instruments include fiddle, concertina, guitar, bodhran, tin whistle, flute, and mandolin. The TrailJams Tune of the Week is sometimes part of the mix, and the tempo stays moderate. The park offers space for a walk or picnic before or after the music, and companions can explore the trees, trails, and river while tunes are underway. There is no firm end time, so if the music is flowing it may continue a bit longer, and nearby options in downtown Tigard make an easy stop afterward.

Dr. Scott Rumsey of the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission presents an in-depth look at West Coast kelp forests, explaining how these underwater ecosystems function and why they matter. Among the ocean’s most productive and diverse habitats, kelp forests provide vital nursery grounds for species that support commercial and recreational fisheries and offer striking seascapes appreciated by divers. Thanks to generous donors, the foundation acquired a 2025 Harley-Davidson Special Gray Ghost Fat Boy that will be awarded by raffle at Steelhead Harley-Davidson. This limited edition Icon Collection model pays homage to the original 1990 Fat Boy and features a chrome-like PVD finish, signature silver and yellow accents, modern LED lighting, selectable rider modes, and the Milwaukee-Eight 117 engine. Only 1,990 individually numbered bikes were produced, combining nostalgic styling with contemporary performance. A total of 550 tickets will be available at $100 each for a chance to win the motorcycle, which is valued at $25,499. Additional prizes include a $500 Steelhead Harley-Davidson gift card, five $100 gift cards, and a 65 inch LED smart TV. Attendance is not required to win. Ride for Sight is a fundraising motorcycle ride benefiting the Keep the Promise Fund, which supports vision and hearing programs. Riders travel about 77 miles from Milwaukie to the Mount Hood Lions Clubhouse on winding back roads with wide views of Mount Hood, a route that takes roughly two hours. The ride departs from Clackamas Community College.

Draglore: Feminist Folklore Drag Show

Draglore blends folklore and drag to illuminate a cultural tapestry that stretches across centuries. This monthly series features a rotating lineup of drag performers, theatrical lighting, and short educational segments that unpack the stories and traditions behind each piece. This edition focuses on classic folklore with feminist themes. Audience members are seated at tables in a climate controlled room. The venue offers a large free parking lot and is wheelchair accessible. Admission is donation based with a policy that no one is turned away for lack of funds. Payment is accepted at the door by cash or Cash App, and proceeds are shared equally among the cast and crew. Food and drinks are not sold on site, and there is a bar across the street called Chan’s Steakery for a visit before or after the show. This event is open to all ages and is produced by Arcadia Arts Co., a human run performing arts company dedicated to bridging drag and theatre through fresh interpretations of folklore and public domain classics.

Milwaukie Repair Fair at the Milwaukie Sustainability Fair

This free community repair gathering invites people to bring broken household items and work with skilled volunteers who can help diagnose issues and, in many cases, make repairs. It is a hands-on chance to learn about fixing things, save money, and keep usable items out of the trash. The event is held outdoors in the same location as the Milwaukie Sunday Farmer’s Market. Typical items include clean clothing and textiles, small electronics, and small home appliances. Not all repair types are available at every session, so to check on a specific item you can email sustainability@clackamas.us with a brief description. Plan to have one broken item examined per person at a time. After an item is assessed or repaired, return to the registration table to be matched with another fixer for a second item. If a repair is likely to take more than 30 minutes, it may be postponed. Upon arrival, check in at the front desk and complete a liability waiver. Your item may be placed on a hold table while fixers review projects and call items in an order that aligns with their skills, which can mean some items are seen slightly out of sequence. Depending on attendance, you may need to wait with your item. Items left unattended are skipped. Some things are not accepted, including anything too heavy for one person to carry, microwaves, printers, DVD players, VCRs, TVs, computers, laptops, tablets, cellphones, large appliances, items containing coolant, gasoline, or other hazardous materials, and unwashed clothing. While a successful fix is not guaranteed, volunteers will give it their best effort.
