This women led, women only defensive handgun and self defense course unfolds over three consecutive Tuesday nights. It is open to participants who have previously completed the three night Women's Only Handgun & Defensive Fundamentals class and is designed to deepen both skills and mindset for personal protection. Each session concentrates on a different area. One night focuses on when the use of lethal force may be legally justified, using scenarios to explain how the legal system evaluates self defense with a firearm. Another addresses violent encounters and what follows, highlighting how intense stress affects the body and how preparation and the right mindset influence your ability to stay safe. A third session develops point shooting techniques for practical application in close quarters. Every night includes live fire drills that connect directly to the topic at hand, helping to build a solid foundation in handgun proficiency and a confident, prepared approach to self defense. Cancellation policy: seats in HTA classes are non refundable. If a legitimate medical, family, or personal situation arises, rescheduling to a future class is available.

A concurrent children’s activity group is offered in a separate space while the adult group meets, and advance registration is required so volunteers can be scheduled to ensure child safety. Help with care for infants and toddlers may be possible upon request. As participation grows, plans include exploring more focused groups, such as options for those with school-age children or for older adults, as well as a potential daytime session. Participants create a custom framed artwork with real pressed flowers at a beginner-friendly workshop. Designs are pre-traced so the focus is on painting, arranging florals, and adding personal touches. Attendees choose their frame size, pressed blooms, paint colors, and a design theme such as capybara, Pikachu, butterfly, highland cow, frog, or a kids handprint keepsake. For the handprint option, bring a paper tracing of the child’s hand, and note that most handprints fit best in an 8x10 frame unless they are very small. All supplies are provided, and step-by-step guidance is included throughout. Pricing is 35 dollars for a 5x7 frame and 45 dollars for an 8x10 frame. The workshop welcomes teens and adults, while younger children may participate with the understanding that pressed flowers are costly and the process takes time. Fresh off a Nashville recording session for their second EP, they arrive with a dynamic show that reflects a fast-rising reputation and a growing fan base.
American LegionPlants + Puzzles
Puzzle Night returns to Grayce Gardens with a plants-and-puzzles twist. Teams will race to complete a 500-piece floral puzzle, and the first to finish earns bragging rights and a prize. The competition unfolds inside a glass-roof greenhouse surrounded by lush greenery and bathed in natural light. Tickets are offered by team or individually, with solo participants grouped into teams of three to four. Each 8-foot farmhouse table seats two teams to keep the atmosphere lively and friendly. Arrive early to settle in and grab a bite before the action starts. After the challenge, stick around to snack and relax among the plants. Grayce Gardens is BYOB, so bringing favorite drinks and treats is welcome.

A food truck will be set up in the King St parking lot with the full menu available. This stop is open to the public, so everyone is welcome to swing by and enjoy a meal.
Ship First Fridays - October
Celebrate the season finale of Ship First Fridays with a family friendly evening filled with food trucks and free live music. Enjoy barbecue from Uncle Eddie's BBQ, sandwiches and desserts from The Baker's Bowl, and specialty hot dogs and more from Redneck Dogs. Drinks include beer selections from breweries around Pennsylvania, cider poured by Screaming Bambino Cellars, and wine courtesy of Castlerigg Wine Shop. The night features a set by the always popular Jeff Trish. The Shippensburg Art Market returns as part of the festivities, showcasing a wide selection of locally made and handcrafted goods. The series runs April to October and takes place on the first Friday of each month as a collaboration of local nonprofit groups that encourages the community to get out and have fun. A local organization sponsors the event and sponsorship donations are welcomed. Proceeds from First Fridays at Ship Station support the Cumberland Valley Railroad Museum.

Motomember Chambersburg hosts an inclusive evening for enthusiasts of anything with a motor. The gathering welcomes all kinds of motor powered vehicles and celebrates the love of what you drive. Food vendors, to be announced, will be on site. SD will set up its tent with new premium merchandise for the season and music to set the mood. It serves as the final opportunity for Exhaust Wars to qualify four additional participants for the finals. Families, kids, and pets are welcome. Attendees are asked to respect the venue, avoid speeding through the area, keep volume in check to prevent constant loud music or revving, and pick up after themselves. Burnouts are not permitted on site. Chambersburg police are in the area to support if needed.

Strange Days returns with its third annual celebration, an eclectic punk rock art market bringing together more than 60 unique artists, vendors, record dealers, vintage sellers, and handmade creators in one place. Music runs all day with DJ Black Chair Riot and MC Lady Bladie guiding the festivities, and live bands including OXENEERS and Ethan Larsh and the Cicadas take the stage. All-day tattoo and art raffles raise funds for the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter. Admission is $5, children 12 and under are free, and the first 100 attendees receive a complimentary tote. The Amvets host a cash bar with cold beer and cocktails. Throughout the show there is live tattooing by Dave Casey, Derek Bender, and Jade Keefer, plus piercing by Kate Fritz and Sara Ripple. The Capitol Theatre Center presents a high-energy tribute to Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band performed by Forever Seger. Fronted by lead singer Kevin Reid, whose vocals reflect the classic Seger sound, the group delivers commanding performances that have built a fast-rising reputation as a leading Seger tribute across North America. This sold out bingo night at Franklin Fire Company Social Hall offers reserved seating and includes dinner, dessert, snacks, and beverages with every ticket. Admission also comes with a nine-card package for 20 regular games, each paying $500, plus a three-card strip for an Early Bird round that pays $750. Extra cards can be purchased, including additional six-card or nine-card packs for the regular games and a six-card option for the Early Bird. Optional add-ons are available, such as a Winner Take All game for $5 per sheet of six cards, where the prize equals the total collected from card sales, and three $5 special games with set payouts… Coverall “Slow Quickie” for $1,000, Letter “F” for $1,000, and Coverall Minus One for $2,000. Pull tabs and jars are cash only, and a 50/50 cash raffle adds to the excitement alongside other offerings. A waitlist is available since tickets are sold out. Step into Renfrew’s 1814 Summer Kitchen for an intimate, interactive cooking workshop that explores early nineteenth-century open hearth methods. With guidance from domestic life historians in period attire, participants learn foundational techniques, work with traditional hearth tools, and practice safe operation while preparing a historically inspired meal. Menus highlight seasonal ingredients similar to those used by local families such as the Royers and can be adjusted to accommodate dietary needs. Advance registration is required, and each class is limited to six participants to keep the experience personal.
1776: Harvest on the Homestead
Celebrate the season’s bounty with hands-on traditions like grape stomping, known as pigéage, along with cider making, beer brewing, hearth cooking, dancing, and games. As evening arrives, gather around the bonfire for a special tradition that closes the day. The program also includes a special author talk with Americana Corner’s Tom Hand, followed by CI’s annual member meeting. Attendees can wear costumes and either decorate a vehicle to hand out treats or stroll with the kids from ride to ride to collect sweets. Food and beverages will be available on site from local vendors, and Motomember will provide face painting. Prizes and trophies will be awarded for standout costumes for both children and adults. Decorated vehicles can compete for awards, including ten custom trophies for top picks and a grand Spookiest Ride trophy for the overall favorite. Only vehicles that are decorated are eligible for the vehicle awards. The celebration showcases local businesses and offers plenty of spooky fun for all ages.
