The Hitchcock Woods Foundation and the Aiken Master Gardener Association invite community members to take part in the Great Southeast Pollinator Census, a region-wide science effort created by the University of Georgia that empowers people of all experience levels to support pollinator conservation. The group meets at the Tea Cottage entrance for a brief overview of the counting method, then hikes to Ridge Mile Track before participants fan out to observe blooms and record findings. Counts may also be completed at other entrances or locations within Hitchcock Woods to expand coverage, and scouting plants ahead of time is welcome. Clipboards and datasheets are provided. During the census, each participant chooses a flowering plant and notes how many different pollinators land on it over a 15 minute period. Observations are sorted into broad groups, so identification to species is not required. Comfortable hiking shoes, water, snacks, a hat, sunscreen, binoculars, a camera, and a phone or watch for timing are recommended. Registration is required and carpooling is encouraged. If plans change after registering, please cancel through Eventbrite or contact the organizer. Hitchcock Woods is a 2,100 acre urban forest in Aiken with 70 miles of trails for walkers and equestrians. Managed by the Hitchcock Woods Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, it features mature pine and bottomland hardwood habitats that support a wide variety of plants and wildlife. The Woods is permanently protected by a conservation easement held by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and is designated as a South Carolina Heritage Preserve Trust site.

Radioactive Pinball Arcade celebrates three years of play with a milestone party that highlights how far it has come, growing from 60 games at opening to 125 today as the largest pinball arcade in South Carolina. Guests can explore 70 pinball machines and 55 classic and modern arcade cabinets, along with driving and shooting games, air hockey, skee ball, and foosball. Admission covers all-day access to every machine on free play. The celebration is a thank you to customers, friends, families, tournament players, and the Aiken community. 2026 T.I.P. Championships & Thoroughbred Premier Series Preview Show
The 2026 T.I.P. Championships highlights Thoroughbreds across a wide range of disciplines, with divisions for hunters, jumpers, dressage, western dressage, combined test, ranch riding, competitive trail, and both western and English pleasure, plus in-hand championships. Entry to the championships is restricted to horses that are both qualified and declared. Running alongside is the 2026 Thoroughbred Premier Series Preview Show, featuring a $5,000 Hunter Classic and a $5,000 Jumper class for qualified horses, as well as Novice Rider and Green Horse classes open to all Thoroughbreds. Additional resources are available, including event information, the prize list, rule book, declaration forms, and a current list of declared horses. This free, one hour gardening lecture is hosted by the Aiken Master Gardener Association. The series runs February through November and is typically scheduled on the third Friday of the month, with some sessions moved to other Fridays due to scheduling. Attendees are welcome to bring lunch to enjoy during the presentation.

Celebrate Halloween on the trails at Stable View with a full day of racing that features the debut Mummifying Marathon alongside a Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, and a Kids Fun Run. Courses wind through more than 1,000 acres of gently rolling hills beneath forest canopies and longleaf pines. Keep an eye out for the Headless Horseman along the route. Participants receive a finisher medal, a race t-shirt, great post-race food, and access to hot showers. Long sleeve and short sleeve options are offered, with short sleeves available while supplies last. Four on-course rest stops will provide water and Nuun. Awards include overall honors for the top three female and male finishers in the Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K. Age group medals go to first place in the following brackets: 14 and under, 15 to 19, 20 to 24, 25 to 29, 30 to 34, 35 to 39, 40 to 44, 45 to 49, 50 to 54, 55 to 59, 60 to 64, 65 to 69, 70 to 74, and 75 to 79. Costumes are encouraged, with special awards for Most Unique, The Scariest, Best Superhero, and Best Family and Friends Group. The setting highlights Stable View’s ongoing conservation focus, including efforts related to the Red-cockaded woodpecker. Onsite lodging and RV hookups are available for those who prefer to stay near the start or relax afterward, with a peaceful country atmosphere that is still convenient to dining, sightseeing, and shopping in historic downtown Aiken.

Pinball players can test their skills at Radioactive Pinball Arcade in a monthly IFPA rated tournament that begins with six rounds of group match play. Depending on attendance, either the top 16 or the top 8 advance through quarterfinal and semifinal stages with two games per round, and the final four decide the outcome in a two game championship. Admission is $20 and includes arcade entry with all machines on free play. An optional $10 tournament fee builds a cash prize pool for the top four who opted in, and the arcade covers the IFPA fee.
