    Spike's School | K9 E-Collar Course

Myrtle Beach · Myrtle Beach, 2010 N Ocean Blvd

A three-day K9 e-collar workshop designed to build clear, effective communication between handlers and their dogs through modern, low-level techniques. Participants practice identifying working levels, applying pressure correctly, and incorporating the collar into obedience and recall in distracting environments. Instruction emphasizes off-leash control, neutrality, and realistic scenarios so teams become more reliable and accountable. Presented by Spike’s School, the program advances handler and K9 communication with training from respected instructors, and approved applicants may receive donor-supported sponsorship at no cost. Only 20 spots are available. Training is delivered in collaboration with instructor Kevin Vicini, whose experience with working dogs centers on clarity, accountability, and practical results, offering straightforward systems that can be put to use immediately. Topics include e-collar theory and fit, timing and communication mechanics, obedience and recall integration, distraction work and neutrality, off-leash reliability with troubleshooting, and scenario-based application. Prerequisites apply: the handler and K9 must be active, certified members of a department K9 unit, and the dog must be current on core vaccinations, including Rabies and a combination vaccine for Distemper, Adenovirus-2, Parvovirus, with or without Parainfluenza. Be prepared for intensive, hands-on training with K9s. If a team’s dog has received a ballistic vest from Spike’s K9 Fund donors, the vest must be worn for the duration of the course, and teams that do not bring it will be responsible for training fees.
