Soft Light & Living Color: A Pastel Journey with Nick Santaniello (Saturday Morning Series)

Explore the expressive possibilities of soft pastels in a four-part workshop led by artist Nick Santaniello. Inspired by the spirit of impressionism and the work of Monet, Renoir, and Degas, the series emphasizes light, atmosphere, and emotion. It welcomes absolute beginners as well as experienced artists who want to loosen up, try an impressionistic approach, or enjoy a mindful creative reset. Across four sessions, participants move from initial idea to completed artwork while building a personal roadmap for their process. The first session introduces materials, planning strategies, and quick value studies to strengthen drawing and composition. The second develops structure with an underdrawing and refined composition. The third turns to color theory and layered application to create depth, texture, and mood. The final session focuses on bringing the piece together with guidance and feedback in a supportive environment. Weather permitting, one meeting may take place outdoors for a plein air experience that captures natural light and color. The focus is on process, confidence, and the calm that comes from being fully engaged in making art. Participants may complete a finished piece and, more importantly, leave with a deeper connection to their creative voice. The series fee is $260 for four weeks, and a supply list is provided.

Shore to Sea Cleanup Tour

This Myrtle Beach Pier cleanup, organized by Ocean Blue Project, is part of the East Coast Shore to Sea Cleanup Tour that links volunteers from South Carolina to Maine to protect the Atlantic coastline. Volunteers remove plastic and other debris from the beach and pier area, sort recyclables to cut down on landfill waste, and record pollution data to help track local trends. A Message in a Bottle treasure hunt adds a bit of discovery while contributing to the effort. The cleanup supports wildlife and habitats along the Grand Strand, including sea turtles, shorebirds, and coastal dune ecosystems, as well as popular areas for surfing, fishing, and recreation. Keeping trash out of the ocean helps improve water quality and beach safety. This is a family friendly opportunity open to students, residents, and visitors. Coastal Carolina University students, faculty, and staff are welcomed partners, with a focus on marine science learning, coastal stewardship, and community engagement. New volunteers receive guidance on site along with supplies, safety information, data tracking support, and leadership from the organizers. For comfort and safety, attendees can bring a reusable water bottle, sun protection such as reef safe sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses, wear closed toe shoes and weather appropriate clothing, and bring personal gloves if preferred. The cleanup also aligns with Earth Month, offering a meaningful way to care for Myrtle Beach and the broader South Carolina coast.

Tell It Circle™: A Monthly Gathering for Storytellers, Authors & Creatives

A welcoming circle for storytellers, authors, and creatives offers a guided space to turn lived experiences into compelling narratives. Whether the focus is a book, a speech, or a personal brand, participants learn to shape their stories with clarity and purpose. Each gathering blends creative writing exercises, storytelling techniques, brief lessons, group sharing with feedback, coaching moments, and practical next steps. A new theme each month keeps the experience fresh for both new and returning participants. Attendees build confidence speaking about their story, receive constructive input from a professional author and coach, discover new techniques regularly, and build momentum for larger projects like a book, blog, brand, or public speaking. It is also an opportunity to connect with a supportive community of like-minded creatives. Sessions are held in person at Vision Arts Gallery. The format runs two hours in total, with about 90 minutes of guided work followed by 30 minutes for networking and Q&A. This gathering meets monthly on the third Saturday. In-person attendance is limited to 20 participants, and livestream access is available without a cap. The program is led by Cheli Grace, a six-time Wiley published author, speaker, and educator. She founded Virtual Book School and the Book to Millions Method, helping visionary women, creatives, and entrepreneurs share their stories, write their books, and build their brands. She created this experience to inspire creativity, strengthen confidence, and provide practical steps toward visibility and publishing. Her background includes more than two decades in education, leadership, and publishing, with recognition as an award-winning former school principal and national media expert.

Soft Light & Living Color: A Pastel Journey with Nick Santaniello (Saturday Morning Series)

Explore the luminous world of soft pastels in a four-part workshop led by artist Nick Santaniello. Designed for all experience levels, this series draws inspiration from impressionist masters such as Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Edgar Degas, with a focus on light, atmosphere, and feeling.
