    Hosted by the Shire of Rising Stone at Lane Agri-Park Community Center, Menhir 2026: Monsters, Myths and Legends explores how tales of monsters, myths and legends shaped European culture. The event offers a full program of Arts and Sciences classes along two tracks, one focused on Monsters, Myths and Legends and another designed for newcomers to the New Middle Ages. Highlights include Middle Eastern Monsters with Mistress Maysun, a Valkyries and the Morrigan panel by the Meridien Valkyries, The Myths of the Apothecary with Lord Oisin, a newcomer’s guide to SCA combat, a newcomer’s guide to costume with Countess Ashildr, a newcomer’s guide to persona with THLady Kalliope, and the ABCs of the SCA with Maestra Wynalie. Heavy and rapier combat will take place indoors in a climate controlled space, with a live weapons activity planned pending site approval. Combat coordination is led by Sir Haldr for heavy, Masters Ysabel and Jean-Azriel for rapier, and Sir Griffin for live weapons. Mistress Aislinge, the Kingdom A&S Minister, administers the Regional Arts and Sciences tournament, which also features a Stella Nova competition in a single category. Populace choice voting will run alongside the faire to recognize a favorite entry. Children’s Activities, presented by Lady Constance and Baroness Bergthora, will be offered in multiple sessions throughout the day. The site is fully accessible and ADA compliant, with plenty of tables and chairs available. Merchants are welcome and may contact the autocrat, Maestra Wynalie, at winaleea@comcast.net for details. Mu’illamah Maysun provides a sumptuous day board limited to 80 people, with multiple courses served across the day.
