Each visit to the park brings something different, and with the early stirrings of fall migration, new species may be on the move. Beginners and seasoned birders are welcome. This two-day training blends performance pistol skills with an in-depth look at tactical anatomy in a fully immersive 360 degree environment. Participants explore how stress affects the body and mind, including reaction time and processing speed, then use that knowledge to make faster, smarter tactical decisions. A complementary medical block builds life-saving capabilities for the moments after an armed encounter, drawing on elements of the Guardian Medical Essentials curriculum to address traumatic injuries that could affect the defender or someone close to them. By the end, students work toward two goals, placing anatomically effective shots with speed and precision to stop a threat, and delivering medical care once the immediate danger is resolved. The course culminates in live-fire problem solving that pairs timed shooting with accurate medical interventions, followed by a realistic force-on-force scenario that uses live role players to reinforce the integration of both skill sets. This is not a beginner class. Prior pistol instruction from a reputable source is required, and attendees must already be able to draw safely, move, and think through problems in a dynamic setting. A skills assessment begins the live-fire portion, and proof of previous training may be requested. No prior medical certification is required. Plan to bring a pistol or revolver, a holster that allows one-handed draws with no Serpa models, three magazines or appropriate speed loaders or strips for a revolver, a sturdy belt with magazine pouches, eye and ear protection, durable clothing and footwear, a hat, a jacket, gloves for scenarios, a notepad and pen, and an individual trauma kit. Training medical supplies are provided, and personal kits can be reviewed on request. Expect to fire about 350 rounds of dependable ammunition. The program runs for 16 hours across two days with a one hour lunch each day. A daily range fee is required per student and is paid directly to the TOA staff. The training takes place at The Outpost Armory. All tuition sales are final and cannot be refunded or transferred if a student cancels or does not attend. If Personal Survival Solutions cancels, a refund or credit toward a future class will be offered, and limited exceptions may be considered on a case by case basis.

Young chefs ages 6 to 15 will practice kitchen skills while preparing a playful spread that may include Parmesan thumbprint cookies fit for the Queen of Hearts, vanilla bean cloud pudding dusted with cheerful sprinkles, garlicky mushrooms from a cast iron skillet, veggie patch hummus cups for the White Rabbit, and turkey and white cheddar sliders with a playful eat me nod. Beverages include sparkling strawberry lemonade and warm decaffeinated chamomile tea with honey. Whimsical hats or tea party outfits are welcome. Aprons, ingredients, and all utensils are provided, and participants bring curiosity and a readiness to learn and taste. This is a drop-off class for kids. Parents can linger briefly at the beginning for photos, then return a little early to see what their child created and sample a few bites. Those who want to cook together can look for separate family classes.

Guided by a park ranger, this one hour lantern light walk through Stones River National Cemetery shares the personal stories of soldiers and civilians through readings of letters they sent and received during the conflict. Reservations are required in advance, and no walk-ons are permitted. Reservations are not transferable, and cancellations must be made by phone on the day of the program. This program is not recommended for children under 10, is not accessible for strollers or wheelchairs, and pets are not permitted.

A meetup for Dungeons & Dragons players at Cultivate Coworking features quest driven, West Marsh style one shot adventures. It is beginner friendly, and assistance with character creation is available. Bring a level 1 5e character built with the 2014 or 2024 rules using the standard array. Characters use standard 5e races and classes, with any exceptions at the DM’s discretion. After playing that character at level 1, it may return at level 2, advance to level 3 after two sessions at level 2, then to level 4 after three sessions at level 3. Advancement is capped at level 4 for now to keep games accessible to new players. Snacks are welcome, and everyone is asked to respect the space and tidy up before leaving.
