Franklin County Library hosts a book club conversation on The Terrible Two. All ages are welcome. Participants are asked to read the book in advance to take part in the discussion. The Terrible Two is a comedic middle grade series by Jory John and Mac Barnett that follows prank-loving Miles Murphy and Niles Sparks in the quiet town of Yawnee Valley. The first book begins with a prank rivalry that becomes a partnership, highlighting friendship and a sense of belonging.

Children ages 7 and under can enjoy two hours of open play in a safe environment. The time is completely unstructured so kids can explore and move at their own pace. Admission is $10 per child for the full session.

Local makers and growers from Manchester come together at a lively community market that showcases small businesses and handcrafted goods. Visitors can browse fresh breads, pastries, and other baked treats, hand-sewn clothing, bags, and home accents, thriving plants raised by nearby growers, distinctive jewelry, and finely crafted wooden pieces. Each item reflects the skill and care of its creator. Beyond shopping, it serves as a neighborhood hub where people connect, support local entrepreneurs, and celebrate the charm of handmade work.

Hosted by Oliver’s Wood & Fabric, the seventh annual Pirate Day Crafts Show transforms the Rotary Ampitheater into a nautical marketplace of handcrafted treasures from local makers. The celebration features a lively pirate theme with entertainment and activities for all ages. Attendees can set out on a treasure hunt through the show, try their hand at pirate themed games, and take part in a talk like a pirate prize challenge that rewards spirited sea talk. Interactive stations invite creativity and play, including making a message in a bottle and friendly foam sword duels. Adventurers can also tackle the 9 Pieces of 8 scavenger quest inspired by the nine Pirate Lords and the legend of Calypso. Pirate attire is encouraged. Tricorn hats, eye patches, parrots, and peg legs fit right in, and standout costumes earn bragging rights and rewards. Vendors must complete an application before receiving an invoice. An annual showcase of cars, trucks, motorcycles, and jeeps raises funds for FC cheerleaders and local childhood cancer patients. The day features barbecue plates, a DJ, a bounce house, a 50/50 raffle, trophies, and special guests. One entry will also earn a $500 People’s Pick award.
