Lunadas del Valle brings an evening of poetry, storytelling, music, and art to Búho Bookstore in downtown Brownsville. Curated by Michael Jones and featuring readers that include Juan M. Perez, the gathering will be emceed by Daniel García Ordaz, also known as the Poet Mariachi, with music to be announced. Michael Jones is also highlighted as the featured artist. Each featured reader is slated for seven to twelve minutes. If time remains, an open mic will follow with up to five minutes per participant. Admission is free, presented by the Seven To Eight Poetry Project. Inspired by the long-standing Mexican tradition of lunadas held under a full moon, this edition may take place indoors or outdoors to accommodate Rio Grande Valley heat. Attendees are encouraged, though not required, to bring new or gently used books to donate to the city’s only independent bookstore.

The Un Verano Sin Ti pop-up market has shifted to a new date to welcome more vendors and will take place at Ambassador Event Center. Expect free entry, a $50 cash prize raffle, and complimentary tote bags for the first 30 guests. Organizers are currently seeking vendors interested in participating.
