Hosted at the Boys & Girls Club of Harlingen, this community-focused gathering is presented in partnership with the HCISD FACE team. Families can get ready for the new school year and connect with more than 30 community partners. Admission is free for all HCISD families, and ACE families are invited to attend.

A ranger leads an exploration of the park to spot butterflies and dragonflies, welcoming participants of all ages and experience levels, whether local or visiting from far away. The Valley hosts more than 300 species of butterflies and about 100 species of dragonflies, including some seen in the United States only in South Texas. Bring a camera or binoculars if you wish, or borrow binoculars on site. If the weather is too hot, a tram helps the group move around. The group meets on the deck outside the Park Store. This program has been offered here for nineteen years. Included with park entry, which is $5 for adults and free for children 12 and under.

Enjoy a free neighborhood block party as the Mobile Recreation Unit brings a summer stop to Morningside Park. This family-friendly gathering welcomes neighbors and friends with a traveling setup that includes an inflatable water slide, portable basketball hoops, tricycles, hula hoops, arts and crafts, and other outdoor activities. Snacks are available while supplies last. Expect splashing and water play, so dress for getting wet and bring a towel.

Bobby Lackey Stadium hosts the 2nd annual 5K and 1-mile run and walk supporting Weslaco Panthers varsity football. The event centers on community spirit and active participation, uplifting the players who demonstrate dedication, discipline, and pride. It aims to build momentum for the 2026 season while celebrating Panther pride.

A free, family-friendly gathering focused on collecting school supplies to support a local school, with the specific school to be announced. Vendors and car clubs are invited to participate and help build a strong community turnout. Vehicle entries contribute $15 worth of school supplies, and vendor spaces are $25. Explore the park’s remarkable birdlife on a guided, two-hour tour that welcomes every age and experience level. The group will work to spot as many species as possible, with special attention to the 30 Valley Specialties. More than 365 species have been recorded here, many found only in the Rio Grande Valley, making this outing engaging for beginners and seasoned birders alike. Features include time on the birding deck overlooking the wetlands, which has logged a single-day record of 115 species from one vantage point, and a visit to the Tropical Area, home to Green Jays, Great Kiskadees, and Clay-colored Thrushes, and known for drawing rarities such as Elegant Trogon, Rose-throated Becard, White-throated Thrush, and Crimson-collared Grosbeak. If conditions are very warm and humid, and if participant numbers and weather allow, the tour may take place from a quiet electric tram that travels throughout the park. The program is included with park admission, which is $5 for adults and free for children. It is family-friendly and open to all skill levels, and pets are not permitted. WMU of Texas organizes an outreach in Brownsville, Texas that brings a mission trip together with a community block party to serve families along the Texas border. The effort centers on a back-to-school supply drive and includes crafts and activities designed for kids. Volunteers spend time playing with children and coordinating activities, while other events in the area address additional needs within the community. Throughout the experience, participants also share the Gospel with children and adults, offering hope and care to the Brownsville community.
