Lunadas del Valle offers an evening of poetry, storytelling, music, and art at Búho Bookstore in downtown Brownsville. The program is curated by Michael Jones, who is also the featured artist, with readings that include Juan M. Perez. Hosting the night is emcee Daniel García Ordaz, also known as The Poet Mariachi, and music will be announced. Featured readers are scheduled for 7 to 12 minutes each. As time allows, an open mic will follow with up to 5 minutes per participant. This free gathering is presented by the Seven To Eight Poetry Project. Inspired by the long-standing Mexican tradition of lunadas held under a full moon, this edition adapts to Rio Grande Valley heat by taking place indoors and, when suitable, outdoors. Guests are encouraged to consider donating new or gently used books to Brownsville’s only independent bookstore, though donations are optional.

Set at the Ambassador Event Center, the Un Verano Sin Ti pop-up market has been rescheduled to make room for more vendors and a larger experience. Admission is free. A $50 cash raffle will be part of the festivities, and complimentary tote bags will go to the first 30 attendees. The market is seeking vendors.
