Bearded Ax Brewery 301 W Main Street Midlothian, TXNovel Nightmare Book Club
An adults-only horror book club gathers readers who savor stories that linger long after the last page. Discussions range across the full spectrum of fear, from brooding Gothic atmospheres and mind-bending psychological tales to supernatural chills, cosmic dread, and pulse-quickening slashers. The current selection is Porcelain Lullaby by Blaine Daigle. Brothers Jake and Nate Shepherd were left orphaned by a horrific childhood night that fractured their bond. Years later, a message from their mother, long since dead, draws them to Meadowland, a deserted orphanage where whispers seem to grow louder and small shapes haunt the edges of sight. As they search the crumbling corridors, buried memories rise, their fragile grip on reality slips, and secrets refuse to stay hidden. Daigle, author of The Broken Places and A Dark Roux, crafts a twisting descent into psychological terror. Electricity gives way to a sputtering fire, chores demand hauling wood and washing by hand, her children seem unfamiliar, and her once soft-handed spouse is now a capable farmer. She wonders if she has been thrust into a ruthless reality show, pulled through time, or subjected to a spiritual test.
