Free open play features small-sided soccer in 7v7 and 9v9 formats for ages U11 to U18. Throw a Sake Set on the Pottery Wheel

Learn to throw on the pottery wheel with a focus on small forms as you build a coordinated sake set. Begin by making several mini pieces, typically around five, then select your best three or four. Next, create a taller companion vessel while Emily provides guidance on shaping and altering the rim. The studio will handle trimming and glazing, finishing your set in an Asian style. Pieces will be packed for pickup in about three weeks, and they are well suited for home use or gifting.

This overnight ruck celebrates the nation’s founding, honoring July 4, 1776, when the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence, drafted primarily by Thomas Jefferson and rooted in natural rights such as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The target distance is 17.76 miles to reflect that historic moment, with options to match different experience levels. Advanced participants can cover the full distance in a single effort, intermediate participants can complete it over the course of a week, and beginners can spread it out during the month. Patriotic attire is encouraged, and carrying the American flag at the front of the group adds to the spirit of the event. Suggested ruck weight is 20 pounds for men and 10 pounds for women. Das Klub "1st SAT" - a JULY 4th MORNING cruise to lunch!

Das Klub hosts a relaxed cruise to lunch for vintage Volkswagen enthusiasts. The group sets off from J.C.’s Burger House in Allen for an easy loop around Lake Lavon, then wraps up at Charlie’s Old-Fashioned Kitchen in Farmersville for burgers plus Blue Bell ice cream. Expect classic VWs of many types, including Beetles, Buses, Ghias, Things, Fastbacks, Vanagons, dune buggies, and more, with conversation, shared tips, and stories throughout. Friends, families, future VW owners, and burger fans are welcome. Questions can be sent through the event page, and photos can be tagged with #DasKlubTX.

Wilderness First Aid

Held at Texas Survival School, this Wilderness First Aid course serves scouts and scout leaders, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone who spends time or works in remote settings. It focuses on advanced emergency care skills for situations when professional responders may be far away. The curriculum follows the Boy Scouts of America Wilderness First Aid Curriculum and Doctrine Guidelines and aligns with OSHA’s Best Practices for Workplace First Aid Training Programs. Participants must be at least 14 years old and have current adult CPR/AED certification. The class spans 16 hours and awards a two-year certification, with a digital certificate provided upon successful completion. Training covers primary and secondary assessments, injuries to the head and brain as well as the neck and spine, heat-related conditions and hypothermia, altitude illnesses, severe allergies and anaphylaxis, burns, fractures and joint injuries, and the care of wounds including infection management.

First Saturday - August's: Keepers of the Prairie

This First Saturday at Blackland Prairie Raptor Center features hands-on, family friendly activities, games, and trail exploration, highlighted by a live raptor presentation that brings ambassador birds up close while sharing how they support a healthy ecosystem. This edition centers on the theme Keepers of the Prairie, with chances to earn a Prairie Protector Passport, visit stations focused on keeping wildlife safe, enjoy face painting and photo opportunities, discover facts about prairie animals at education stations, take a prairie walk, build enrichment items, and create seed packets or seed bombs. Agents of Discovery and other surprises add to the experience. An additional guided bird walk led by the Prairies & Timbers Audubon Society opens the day and includes a peaceful stop at the bird blind and water feature to observe native birds in their habitat, followed by the main First Saturday activities. Photography is welcome, and a Quiet Area with sensory friendly activities is available in partnership with Sensory Days Dallas. All ticket sales support the Blackland Prairie Raptor Center, a small, self sustaining nonprofit dedicated to caring for raptors, protecting the Blackland Prairie, and offering educational programs for families, with additional donations appreciated. As an outdoor program, plans may change in cases of heavy rain or lightning. If postponed, tickets can be used for the new date or for a future First Saturday, and if neither option works the ticket may be treated as a donation to BPRC, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
