A charity concert organized by Biyaya Foundation USA Inc. brings together artists, families, and friends for music with a mission. Contributions through tickets, donations, and sponsorships help the foundation assist people affected by calamities, provide educational support, cover essential needs, and deliver community outreach wherever it is needed most.

Celebrate the season with Quality Home Furniture’s End of Summer Splashapalooza and Car Show, a family friendly day filled with color, cars, music, and giveaways. Start with a Color Fun Run that includes playful obstacles, then enjoy post run games and activities, a live DJ, a giveaway of school supplies while supplies last, vendor giveaways, and community booths. Gabby’s Auto Car Show features custom and classic vehicles, local car enthusiasts, and small business pop up vendors in a welcoming setting. Raffle prizes include a twin mattress set for one girl and one boy, along with Bubba’s Restaurant “2 Dine for 1” gift certificates, and winners must be present to claim prizes. Cool off with shaved ice from Sno Time Shaved Ice. Registration is available, and those who sign up by the stated deadline receive an event shirt.

Doggie Splash Day at Vanston Swimming Pool invites pups of every size to take over the water for a playful swim. Dogs can enjoy the wading area and lap lanes, and adventurous canines can even try a jump from the diving board. Tennis balls will be floating throughout the pool, and handlers are welcome to get in the water with their pets. Fun competitions are planned, including a pet swimsuit contest, a dog paddle race, and diving events with prizes. Admission for residents is $5 for one dog with its owner, plus $2 for each additional dog or spectator. For non-residents, admission is $8 for one dog with its owner, plus $4 for each additional dog or spectator. Every dog must be accompanied by someone age 16 or older, and paper vaccination certificates are required for entry. Pre-registration is available.

The MLK Back to School Festival is a drive-through giveaway for students from any grade level and their families, offering free backpacks, school supplies, and other essentials to prepare for a new school year. The distribution will be held at the MLK, Jr. Community Center. Children must be in the vehicle to receive items. To manage traffic, no more than two families may ride in the same car, with a limit of four children per family. No registration is needed to attend or to receive supplies, and items are provided in the order that cars arrive. Community partners can participate by registering to support the event. The Museum School of East Dallas marks its opening with an official ribbon cutting. After the ceremony, there will be a summer school exhibition along with opportunities to meet teachers and more. The first day of school takes place the following week.

Adrian, Camille, and the L.A.K.E. Foundation are hosting a Day of Impact at Hawaiian Waters, bringing families together for an afternoon at the water park with live music and games in support of Garland families. A Back to School Drive will collect backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils, folders, and other supplies to help local students start the year prepared. A Food Drive will help stock local pantries with canned goods, pasta, rice, peanut butter, cereal, and other nonperishable items. Online ticket purchases using the code LAKEGIVE will give back all summer long. Partners include Hawaiian Waters, Jack & Jill of America, and Garland ISD.

This make and take class welcomes beginners and is set up so you can complete the project in a single session while learning new skills. Attend on your own or pair up with a budding sewist. Please bring three fat quarters. Instruction is provided by Kris Stevenson. The fee is $20.

Cub Scout Pack 434 presents a hands-on Raingutter Regatta filled with family-friendly fun. Expect casual games, snacks and drinks, and the main racing event. Children sign up for the race, build their own boats, then compete in age-based heats. Prizes will be announced, and kids can enjoy the playground between races for an easygoing outing the whole family can appreciate.

Mesquite Championship Rodeo showcases bull riding, barrel racing, and bronc riding alongside family friendly fun. This Texas rodeo tradition takes place at the Gomez Western Wear Arena with classic events and arena thrills that capture the spirit of rodeo.

Texas Longhorn Night returns to the Mesquite Championship Rodeo, offering family-friendly fun and a concert after the rodeo featuring Seth James.

An ogre-sized celebration arrives at Texas Theatre with a big-screen presentation of the original Shrek honoring its 25th anniversary. To mark the occasion, Bishop Street Ballet performs selections from The Little Humpbacked Horse, with dancers portraying favorite fairytale creatures from the movie. The program blends a beloved fairytale parody with live ballet in Oak Cliff.

Representative Rafael Anchia hosts an annual back to school fair at Halperin Park, offering a welcoming start to the new school year. Attendees can pick up one of 3,500 free backpacks stocked with school supplies and connect with community resources. Entertainment includes mariachis, face painting, and ballet folklórico. Bikes and helmets are part of the offerings, and RSVP is required. This is a family friendly gathering.

Exhibitions take place ahead of the next round of this barrel series, and the arena surface has been updated with fresh dirt so the ground is set for fast runs. Food and drinks are available throughout the evening from Rodeo City Provisions. To respect the facility and keep the series welcome here, do not bring outside alcoholic beverages or glass bottles, as violations will result in removal from the property.

Garland Animal Shelter & Adoption Center hosts a monthly low-cost vaccine clinic that makes essential pet care more accessible for local families. The clinic features the VIP, or Very Important Pet, Bundle for $10, which includes a rabies vaccine and a microchip for both dogs and cats, with microchips funded by Friends of Rescue Animals (FRAS). Dogs also receive a free DAPPv parvo distemper vaccine and cats receive a free FVRCP vaccine. With support from Petco Love, the DAPPv and FVRCP vaccines are available at no cost on their own with no purchase required, or they can be paired with rabies and a microchip for the full bundle. Services are provided on a first come, first served basis to help keep community pets healthy, safe, and connected to their families.
