Shark Week Showdown offers an ocean-themed running experience from Bigfoot Running Company, created for families and runners of all levels. A monthly, moderate-level, five-mile hike explores the perimeter trails of Phil Hardberger Park. The route crosses the Skywalk and the Robert L.B. Tobin Land Bridge and passes landmarks such as the Savanna Restoration area, the Wetland corner, the Nature Play Area, the Native Plant Wildscape Demonstration Garden, the Golden Age art installation, Salado Creek Overlook, the Borrow Pit, and Phil's Tree. Expect a mix of paved and natural surfaces. The outing typically takes up to two hours and may wrap up sooner depending on the group. There is a mid-hike stop at the Urban Ecology Center building for water refills and restrooms, and the walk concludes where it began. This program is suited for adults and teens who can travel more than five miles at a moderate pace. Comfortable closed-toed shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, and water are recommended. Registration is encouraged but not required, and the experience is weather permitting. Route and distance may be adjusted based on trail conditions. Friends are welcome.

At Abby's Attic Sewing & Craft Studio (North Central San Antonio), this fashion-focused week gives young creators an inviting start in reading patterns, building garments, and exploring the world of fashion. Designed for ages 8 and up, sessions are available as half day or full day, with the flexibility to attend a single day or several days, and savings when booking multiple days at checkout. Beginners are welcome. All materials and snacks are provided, a camp T-shirt is included, and full day participants should bring lunch. Students may bring a personal sewing machine or use one at the studio. Monday offers a half day project making a reversible tote and a full day option creating a sailor-style hat. On Tuesday, the half day session turns a shirt into an apron while the full day transforms a shirt into a peasant top. Wednesday begins two-day builds, with the half day track starting shorts or a simple skirt and the full day track starting a circle skirt or pants, and both continue and finish on Thursday. Friday concludes with open sewing time in both half day and full day sessions.

The Beauty Ball

San Antonio Youth Ballet presents a storybook inspired celebration at the Beauty Ball, the organization’s signature annual fundraiser created for guests of all ages. Set at The Dominion Country Club in San Antonio, this daytime gala pairs the elegance of a classic ball with a warm, family friendly atmosphere. Attendees are invited to dress in their finest and enjoy performances, meaningful moments, and a shared commitment to the future of dance. The experience includes a VIP Cocktail Hour followed by the main gathering. Proceeds support San Antonio Youth Ballet’s mission to nurture the next generation through performances, training, and outreach that expand access to quality dance education in the community.

Blue Cares Pickleball Tournament

A competitive pickleball tournament takes place at Chicken N Pickle in San Antonio, sponsored by L3 Harris and Dailey-Wells. Expect raffle giveaways and prizes for first, second, and third place. Team entry is $150 and non-player entry is $50, and both include lunch and a T-shirt. Blue Cares is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and the community outreach program of the San Antonio Police Officers' Association.
