Shark Week Showdown offers an ocean-themed running experience from Bigfoot Running Company, created for families and runners of all levels. Options include a Kids Dash for ages 10 and under that focuses on fun and is not timed, a relaxed 1 mile that is not chip timed, the 5K known as The Fin Frenzy with chip timing and awards for overall, masters ages 40 and older, and age groups, and the 10K called The Deep End Challenge with chip timing, awards, and full finish-line festivities. Every 1 mile, 5K, and 10K participant earns a finisher medal, and Kids Dash runners receive a special medal. Expect super-soft Shark Week Showdown race tees, music at the start and finish, aid stations on the course, and a high-energy celebration at the finish. 5 Mile Hike

A monthly, moderate-level, five-mile hike explores the perimeter trails of Phil Hardberger Park. The route crosses the Skywalk and the Robert L.B. Tobin Land Bridge and passes landmarks such as the Savanna Restoration area, the Wetland corner, the Nature Play Area, the Native Plant Wildscape Demonstration Garden, the Golden Age art installation, Salado Creek Overlook, the Borrow Pit, and Phil's Tree. Expect a mix of paved and natural surfaces. The outing typically takes up to two hours and may wrap up sooner depending on the group. There is a mid-hike stop at the Urban Ecology Center building for water refills and restrooms, and the walk concludes where it began. This program is suited for adults and teens who can travel more than five miles at a moderate pace. Comfortable closed-toed shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, and water are recommended. Registration is encouraged but not required, and the experience is weather permitting. Route and distance may be adjusted based on trail conditions. Friends are welcome.

Students may bring a personal sewing machine or use one at the studio. Monday offers a half day project making a reversible tote and a full day option creating a sailor-style hat. On Tuesday, the half day session turns a shirt into an apron while the full day transforms a shirt into a peasant top. Wednesday begins two-day builds, with the half day track starting shorts or a simple skirt and the full day track starting a circle skirt or pants, and both continue and finish on Thursday.
