In Utah, prevailing religious culture can make coming out and living authentically feel costly, sometimes involving the loss of family ties, community support, or personal faith. The Utah Pride Center offers a monthly support group dedicated to understanding religious trauma, its effects, and ways to start healing. The piece earned acclaim on Broadway under director Lonny Price, with Audra McDonald as Billie Holiday and Shelton Becton as pianist Jimmy Powers. Group size is limited to 15 and registration closes on the day the tour is scheduled. This outing is suitable for all ages and follows mostly flat terrain with a gentle uphill grade. Tall grass, uneven footing, and wet ground may be encountered and could be challenging for younger children and some seniors. Anyone who prefers a shorter experience is welcome to turn back at any point. For the protection of sensitive wetland habitat, dogs are not permitted. When snow covers the preserve, the route is traveled on snowshoes, which can be rented from the EcoCenter for $2.50 for members and $5 for nonmembers. Please come prepared for the weather. In spring, summer, and fall, wear sturdy shoes or boots and long pants, bring water, and pack sun protection such as sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat.
