    The Wet Ones and more

Burlington · Foam Brewers, 112 Lake St

A Halloween showcase from Foam Presents features The Wet Ones, Bloodshot Bill, and Zombeat and Die. Known as the "Montreal Madman," he has toured throughout North America, Europe, and Japan, with music featured in campaigns for KFC, Mercedes, Dodge, and Chrysler. Honors include the Ameripolitan Rockabilly Male of the Year award and recognition among Vintage Rock magazine’s top eight rockin guitarists. John Waters once described him as "Roy Orbison with a head injury." The Wet Ones, appearing with dancers, are a Vermont power trio devoted to original surf instrumentals played fast and loud. Formed in 2018, they issued Tombstoning in 2019, then The Monster of Jungle Island, which doubles as the soundtrack to their zero-budget short B-horror film shot on Vermont’s Burton Island, with more music on the way. Zombeat and Die brings a haunted vibe as the spookiest DJ in town. This all-ages event offers free parking, admission is $15, and costumes are encouraged.

    Pink Talking Fish

South Burlington · Higher Ground, 1214 Williston Rd

Pink Talking Fish is a hybrid tribute that blends the music of Pink Floyd, Talking Heads, and Phish into a cohesive, story-like concert experience. It channels the sweeping emotion associated with Pink Floyd, the layered, danceable rhythms of Talking Heads, and the playful, shape-shifting compositions of Phish, all woven into a single show that celebrates the communities these bands have inspired. The lineup features Eric Gould on bass, Richard James or Stephen Learson on keyboards, Zack Burwick on drums, and Cal Kehoe on guitar, musicians united by a deep love for these influential catalogs and a desire to present them in a fresh way. Discovering musical connections is part of the fun, whether it is sliding On The Run into the heart of You Enjoy Myself, tucking Sand into the groove of Slippery People, or crafting medleys that move from Run Like Hell to Making Flippy Floppy to Piper and back again, as well as linking Mike’s Song with Have a Cigar, Once in a Lifetime, and Weekapaug Groove. The concept keeps evolving, the momentum stays high, and every performance offers a new twist, so no two shows are alike.

    2026 Huber Debates

Burlington · University of Vermont, 536 Main St

At the University of Vermont in Burlington, the 2026 Huber Debates feature two distinct tournaments held on separate days. One centers on a Social Justice Debate using the 2026-2027 topic, and the other follows the British Parliamentary format. Participants may register for either event or for both, with separate registration required. The Social Justice Debate offers three to four in-round debates, depending on the number of entries, followed by novice and open finals evaluated by topic experts. The season’s question asks whether, when approaches to food justice conflict, food sovereignty should take precedence over an individual’s right to adequate food. Activities for this event will gather in the John Dewey Lounge on the third floor of the Old Mill Building. The fee is $25 per person for participants, judges, and observers, and space is initially capped at 20 teams, with the possibility of adding more spots if demand is high. The British Parliamentary tournament includes five preliminary rounds, then elimination rounds scaled to the size of the field. One motion will be shared in advance without indicating which round will use it, and all other motions will be set extemporaneously. General sessions for this tournament will be in Innovation Hall Room E102. The fee is $75 per person for participants, judges, and observers. The schedule features check in, briefings, draws and motions released ahead of rounds, lunch service, awards, and elimination rounds that include Open, ESL, Novice, Rookie, and a concluding final. Payment can be made by check, cash, or credit card. A discounted hotel block is available at the Best Western Windjammer in South Burlington for $119 per night. The hotel runs a shuttle to campus, is on the #1 bus line, and is about a 20 minute walk from campus. Accessible rooms are limited, and anyone needing accommodations can coordinate directly with the sales manager, Sarah Hammitt, at 802-651-0638 or shammitt@Windjammergroup.com.

    Fruit Bats

South Burlington · Higher Ground, 1214 Williston Rd

This event is open to all ages. Fruit Bats, the long-running project of Eric D. Johnson, brings a warm, full-band indie rock sound shaped by years of patient songwriting and a recent burst of immediacy. The Landfill, their 2026 album on Merge Records, treats memory and possibility like a towering landscape, pairing big, live-room instrumentation with the personal openness that defined Johnson’s solo release Baby Man. In the studio, Johnson and bandmates David Dawda, Josh Mease, Frank LoCrasto, and Kosta Galanopoulos captured their chemistry with no click tracks, minimal overdubs, and a mix from frequent collaborator Thom Monahan, resulting in music that feels vivid and in the moment. The set of new songs ranges from sun-drenched reveries to spirited, high-stakes rock, touching on themes of love, uncertainty, and the paths we take. Highlights from this chapter include the title track, That Goddamn Sun, Think Aboutcha, and Perhaps We’re a Storm, each revealing the group’s dynamic interplay and Johnson’s tender, hazy vocals. Known as one of indie rock’s most in-demand live acts, Fruit Bats deliver seekers and anthems alike, honest and big-hearted, with a sound that shimmers, stretches, and soars.

    Weatherday

South Burlington · Higher Ground, 1214 Williston Rd

This all-ages event features Weatherday, the noise-pop project from single-name songwriter Sputnik, centered on a hornet-inspired concept. Hornet Disaster follows the 2019 debut Come in and serves as a companion to the 2022 collaboration Weatherglow, representing the project’s widest scope yet. In an initial surge, more than seventy songs were written and then distilled into a unified narrative that connects back to earlier work. The album bursts open with a caustic title track that is urgent, noisy, unpredictable and playful, signaling shifts in songwriting and production. Lead single Angel, paired with Heartbeats, brings a punchy emo rush, while its counterpart nods to The Knife with a sleek, downtempo twist. Across nineteen tracks, the movement, color, and shape of hornets weave through sudden melodies and sharp turns, making room for explorations like a Swedish-language tribute in Pulka, the airy voice of renaissance flute on Green Tea Seaweed Sea, and the folktronica contours of Ripped Apart By Hands. The result is a teeming swarm of songs that balances volatility with purpose and familiarity, extending the tangled intensity of Come in and embracing the liberated confidence of a voice fully found.

Tropidelic brings a high energy show from their Cleveland roots as a six piece with a fiercely independent spirit. They have launched their own festivals, Sunny Days and Everwild, tallied tens of millions of streams, appeared at major US festivals including Okeechobee, Beach Life, and Tortuga, toured with The Dirty Heads, Lupe Fiasco, and 311, and returned multiple times to Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Carbon Leaf

South Burlington · Higher Ground, 1214 Williston Rd

This all-ages concert features Carbon Leaf, the Richmond, Virginia band behind Time is the Playground, their fifteenth studio album. Their folk-leaning indie rock blends acoustic and electric textures with story-rich writing that contemplates time, love, and personal growth. The group broke through when “The Boxer” won the American Music Awards New Music Award in 2002, becoming the first unsigned act to perform on the AMAs, and they have since played more than 3,500 high-energy shows. After a run of charting releases, they returned to full independence, recording at their own Two-Car Studio and even re-recording earlier albums to regain their rights. The new record gathers ideas developed over 15 years alongside fresh material, with vocalist Barry Privett completing lyrics and stories, engineering by guitarist Terry Clark, and contributions from multi-instrumentalist Carter Gravatt, bassist Jon Markel, and drummer Jesse Humphrey. The performance emphasizes a spirit of dedication, empathy, togetherness, and self-reliance, delivered through finely crafted melodies and lyrics that invite reflection.

    Phillip Phillips

South Burlington · Higher Ground, 1214 Williston Rd

An all-ages show with Phillip Phillips, the winner of American Idol's eleventh season and the voice behind Home, certified five times platinum. Raised in Leesburg, Georgia, he picked up guitar at 14 by playing along to a family karaoke machine and later formed an acoustic band with his sister and brother-in-law. Backed by family and friends, he stepped away from work at his family's pawn shop to audition, earning national attention for controlled vocals and confident stage presence. Home, released the day of his victory, became the most successful coronation song by an Idol winner and posted the strongest debut on the Billboard Digital Songs chart. His debut album, The World From The Side Of The Moon, entered the Billboard 200 at number four and achieved platinum status. He followed with Behind The Light and took those songs on tour, building a reputation for energetic live shows while touring with Matt Nathanson, John Mayer, and the Goo Goo Dolls, and sharing a stage with Bruce Springsteen at Rock in Rio. His third album, Collateral, came together with producers Dave Cobb, Ryan Hadlock, and Nathan Chapman, and includes Dance With Me, written for his wife, Hannah. Family life continues to shape his writing, especially after the arrival of his son, Patch, and that perspective runs through the single Love Like That, which highlights the life he and Hannah share and encourages listeners to celebrate deep, lasting love in their own relationships.

    Williston · Lawton's Finest, 140 Kirby Ln

Cooie DeFrancesco, Adlai Waxman, and Patti Shannon bring their genre-spanning trio to Lawson’s Finest for a warm, engaging performance. Cooie’s melodic, soulful voice and thoughtful phrasing renew traditional songs, popular favorites, and her own material, with shades of blues, jazz, folk, and old-time rock and roll. Adlai, a Toronto-born keyboardist, singer, lyricist, and composer who came to Vermont by way of Nashville, adds seasoned keys and vocals shaped by session work across styles. His EP Circumstance and Dreams spent two weeks on CD Baby’s Rock Americana chart, and his album Down at Joe’s received a Just Plain Folks nomination, also known as the grassroots Grammys. Patti supplies a steady bass foundation along with lead and harmony vocals. She studied guitar at Berklee, has toured widely across the United States including Alaska and Guam and in more than ten countries, performed with The Coasters, The Platters, and The Fleetwoods, and appeared in film, television, and radio. Her songwriting earned a Record of the Year honor from the California Country Music Association, has been pitched to the (Dixie) Chicks and the Trio (Dolly, Emmylou, Linda), and has been covered and placed in movies. She has also released ten original songs on her album Gone So Gone. Together, the trio blends rhythm guitar, expressive keyboards, and bass with tight three part harmonies for a spirited set that moves easily across genres.

    Karina Rykman

South Burlington · Higher Ground, 1214 Williston Rd

Karina Rykman turns bass, voice, and unflagging energy into a vivid, psychedelic-leaning blend of jam rock and indie pop. Raised in New York City, she cut her teeth in teenage bands and as a tireless concertgoer, then, by the end of her time at NYU, stepped into pianist Marco Benevento’s group after a recommendation from Ween’s Dave Dreiwitz, leading to countless shows and appearances alongside acts such as Vulfpeck, Dispatch, and The Claypool Lennon Delirium. Fronting her own trio with Adam November on guitar, loopers, and effects, and Chris Corsico on drums, Rykman delivers a high-impact performance that glides from hazy dream pop textures to thick, overdriven rock, with fun at the center. Highlights include sold out headlining sets, standout turns at Bonnaroo, Peach Music Festival, and Sweetwater 420 Fest, support slots for Khruangbin, My Morning Jacket, and Tedeschi Trucks Band, and appearances with the Late Night with Seth Meyers house band on NBC. Her debut album, Joyride, released via AWAL and created with producer Gabe Monro, showcases her shape-shifting songwriting, with Trey Anastasio serving as co-producer and adding guitar to five of the nine tracks. The atmosphere at her concerts often feels like a friendly gathering, a reflection of her easygoing charisma and deep connection to the live music community.

    The Bouncing Souls

South Burlington · Higher Ground, 1214 Williston Rd

All ages. The Bouncing Souls lead a night of punk with the singalong spirit they have championed since 1989. Their tenth album, Simplicity, was created to capture the spark of their early years while reflecting who they are today, recorded with producer John Seymour, known for his work on How I Spent My Summer Vacation and Anchors Aweigh. Tracked with the urgency of a live set, it highlights cutting guitars, bold bass, steady drums, and soaring vocals, shifting from breakneck bursts to more tender punk ballads, all rooted in a shared love of playing together. The Suicide Machines bring Detroit ska punk to the stage. Formed in 1991, they have released seven full-lengths on Hollywood Records, Sideonedummy Records, and Fat Wreck Chords, along with EPs and singles. Their profile grew through relentless touring, radio play like No Face on KROQ’s Top 106.7 in 1997, and placements in films and video games. Jay Navarro continues as frontman, joined by Ryan Vanderberghe-Malburg on drums, Rich Tschirhart on bass, and Justin Malek on guitar. In 2026 they mark the 30th anniversary of Destruction by Definition. Toronto-raised mainstays The Flatliners add their long-running chemistry to the bill. Chris Cresswell, Scott Brigham, Jon Darbey, and Paul Ramirez have kept the same lineup since 2002, earning their following from basement shows and dive bars to arenas with Weezer and major festivals around the world. With each new chapter they grow from their past while keeping the core of their sound intact, offering a cathartic outlet for turbulent times.
