Manson marks its first year as an official Purple Heart Community with a community celebration honoring Purple Heart recipients and remembering those who gave their lives in service to the country. The Manson American Legion will lead the ceremony with contributions from the Lake Chelan Patriotic Singers, a student speaker from Manson High School, and community partners and local leaders. Tapped Out Sports Bar owner and veteran Todd Link has provided the space for this gathering in support of the occasion. After the ceremony, there will be time for fellowship and lunch, and veterans and their families receive 30% off food and drink courtesy of Tapped Out Sports Bar. The NCW Libraries Bookmobile brings library services to the Foothills Community Center. Visitors can check out books, sign up for a library card, enroll in e-services, and receive tech support from friendly staff. The bookmobile is ADA accessible and equipped with a wheelchair lift. Continued community use helps keep this stop on the route.

MusicBox is an all-ages celebration presented by the NCW Arts Alliance, featuring more than ten regional bands alongside dancing, vinyl records, food, drinks, art, and plenty of fun. The lineup includes Sumguy, Wide Eyes, Umami Dearest, Forest Ray, 23rd Street, Deep Green Sea, Star Anna, Valley Boyz 509, The Timely Tragedy, and Defiant. It takes place at Warehouse 3 Design Centre, with the entrance located in the alley. This event supports the NCW Arts Alliance, with advance admission priced at $10 to $15 and door prices $5 higher.

Set against majestic mountain lake scenery, this concert series fills the South Park Amphitheater at Lake Wenatchee State Park with music and dance. This installment features Eclectic Cloggers, sharing traditional Appalachian clog dancing accompanied by live old-time music. The performance is family friendly and includes moments when the group invites the crowd to sing and move along. Admission is free, and a Discover Pass is needed for parking. Support comes from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Washington State Parks Specialty License Plate Fund, the Washington State Parks Foundation and Northwest Public Broadcasting.

Session 2 of the ICCA Chamber Music Festival welcomes students entering grades 6 through 12 for a week of intensive ensemble training with professional musicians and educators from around the country, including players from the Nashville Symphony Orchestra. Directed by Hoi Ting Davidson and Jenaesha Browder, the camp features an overnight option. Participants rehearse and perform in chamber groups with a strong focus on fundamentals, classical repertoire, lessons, and faculty-led masterclasses, all building toward a final concert at the end of the week. The program is open to middle and high school string players with at least two years of experience on violin, viola, cello, or string bass. To help create well-matched chamber groups, students are asked to submit a one to two minute video that includes a scale of their choice and a short selection from a solo or piece they have been working on. When recording, make sure the entire body and instrument are clearly visible in the frame. Faculty includes Hoi Ting Davidson on violin, Andrew Dunlap on violin, Anthony Parce on viola, and Jenaesha Browder on cello, with string bass faculty to be announced.

Teens ages 13 to 19 can join a two-day musical theater workshop focused on honing advanced acting skills. The program includes script and scene analysis plus work inspired by techniques from Hagen, Meisner, and Stanislavski, along with advanced choreography. Participants should come prepared with 32 bars, memorized, from any age-appropriate musical theater song of their choice. The workshop runs both Wednesday and Thursday evenings and is led by Stage Kids alumna Isa Arredondo.

Catch Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music at Leavenworth Summer Theater, set against the backdrop of a Ski Hill Amphitheater summer night. Performances start at 8:00 PM, with the venue opening one hour before showtime. The show runs about 2.5 hours, and children under 5 are not permitted.

WVAC’s flagship community star party transforms Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery into a shared observing field for newcomers, families, and seasoned amateurs. No registration is required, and participants are encouraged to arrive at the start so introductions and an overview can begin. Bring a telescope for hands-on guidance and tips, or explore the night sky through members’ instruments. Telescopes marked with red lanterns indicate hosts ready to share views, and asking “Whatchya Looking at?” is the friendly prompt to learn what is in the eyepiece. Experienced observers can connect with fellow astronomers and the wider community, while every attendee is welcomed on arrival by a WVAC member who explains how the evening works. Parking is in the USFWS Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery lot outside the gate, which will be partially closed. Do not drive beyond the gate unless prior permission from staff and the club has been given, such as for telescope setup. The observing area sits just beyond the main building, about 50 yards from the lot, along the main roadway marked by a red illuminated sign board. During the program, avoid white light; red-lensed lights are fine, with white light reserved for emergencies. Dress for changing weather and possible wind, and consider insect repellent. Restrooms may be available in the main building when USFWS staff are present. Admission is free, and voluntary donations support the Friends of the Hatchery nonprofit in installing a Sky Quality Meter to track light pollution over time. The star party is weather dependent, and cancellations will be posted on the event calendar.
