Session 2 of the ICCA Chamber Music Festival welcomes students entering grades 6 through 12 for a week of intensive ensemble training with professional musicians and educators from around the country, including players from the Nashville Symphony Orchestra. Directed by Hoi Ting Davidson and Jenaesha Browder, the camp features an overnight option. Participants rehearse and perform in chamber groups with a strong focus on fundamentals, classical repertoire, lessons, and faculty-led masterclasses, all building toward a final concert at the end of the week. The program is open to middle and high school string players with at least two years of experience on violin, viola, cello, or string bass. To help create well-matched chamber groups, students are asked to submit a one to two minute video that includes a scale of their choice and a short selection from a solo or piece they have been working on. When recording, make sure the entire body and instrument are clearly visible in the frame. Faculty includes Hoi Ting Davidson on violin, Andrew Dunlap on violin, Anthony Parce on viola, and Jenaesha Browder on cello, with string bass faculty to be announced.

WVAC’s flagship community star party transforms Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery into a shared observing field for newcomers, families, and seasoned amateurs. No registration is required, and participants are encouraged to arrive at the start so introductions and an overview can begin. Bring a telescope for hands-on guidance and tips, or explore the night sky through members’ instruments. Telescopes marked with red lanterns indicate hosts ready to share views, and asking “Whatchya Looking at?” is the friendly prompt to learn what is in the eyepiece. Experienced observers can connect with fellow astronomers and the wider community, while every attendee is welcomed on arrival by a WVAC member who explains how the evening works. Parking is in the USFWS Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery lot outside the gate, which will be partially closed. Do not drive beyond the gate unless prior permission from staff and the club has been given, such as for telescope setup. The observing area sits just beyond the main building, about 50 yards from the lot, along the main roadway marked by a red illuminated sign board. During the program, avoid white light; red-lensed lights are fine, with white light reserved for emergencies. Dress for changing weather and possible wind, and consider insect repellent. Microscopes and bee samples are provided, or attendees may bring their own samples preserved in alcohol, with specifications available at purchase. A Speaker Panel Discussion will take audience questions submitted in advance.

Appleatchee Riders Association hosts a multi day working equitation gathering featuring two USAWE licensed shows and a cattle trial. Competition includes dressage, ease of handling, and speed, with working equitation Levels 1 through 5 offered, and the cattle trial open to Levels 2 through 7. The show is planned outdoors, with the option to move inside if weather requires. A potluck and cocktail hour in the club house will welcome participants, friends, and family, and guests are encouraged to bring a dish or beverage to share. Competitors must hold current USAWE membership and horses must be recorded, with this requirement waived for schooling entries. Fees are set at $250 for one show for both members and non members, with members adding a second show for $125 and non members adding a second show for $150. The cattle trial is $100 for eligible levels. Stabling is $33 per night and includes one bag of shavings, with additional shavings available for $15. Camping with electric and water hookups is $37 per night, and dry camping is $25 per night. Every competitor receives a welcome bag. Ribbons are awarded through seventh place for each division and level, with a prize for first place. High point awards across both shows recognize the top dressage score, top ease of handling score, and fastest speed round. Cattle teams are assigned by show management, with team requests considered based on participation, and cattle trial ribbons are awarded through fifth place for each show. A kid from the program will be seated at each table to answer questions and share personal experiences with The First Tee. Volunteers will receive special recognition during the program. Participation directly benefits the kids served and supports building game changers on and off the course.

This two-day, women-only photography workshop explores peak autumn color in the Leavenworth and Lake Wenatchee areas and is designed to help participants build a collection of print-ready images. The group is intentionally small, limited to six, to keep things relaxed and to provide ample one-on-one guidance in a warm, supportive setting. Instruction spans foundational through intermediate landscape skills, with an emphasis on creative composition, handling tricky light, thoughtful post-processing touches, and capturing vivid foliage along mountains and rivers. A brief Zoom session before the weekend covers camera fundamentals so field time is focused and productive. Day one begins at Lake Wenatchee State Park in the soft morning light to dial in settings, talk through gear, and practice composition. The journey continues along Highway 2, stopping at both well-known viewpoints and quieter nooks to frame peak color. After settling into lodging and an early dinner, the evening features a sunset shoot by the river, with an optional after-dark session to photograph Leavenworth at night. Day two starts with sunrise on the river, followed by a relaxed walk through riverfront parks and trails, including Enchantment Park and Blackbird Island. After a midday break, the group visits the Wenatchee River Institute, then heads up Icicle Road to focus on river scenes and long exposures. The workshop wraps in the early afternoon, with the option to revisit favorite spots on the drive out for extra practice. A post-workshop Zoom brings everyone back together to share favorite images, review straightforward editing tips, and receive gentle feedback if desired. Guided shooting, location scouting, and personalized coaching are included, along with pre- and post-workshop instruction. Transportation, lodging, meals, and gear are not provided. Participants are encouraged to bring a DSLR or mirrorless camera, a range of lenses with a wide-angle option, a sturdy tripod, optional filters such as a circular polarizer and a graduated neutral density, extra batteries and memory cards, and comfortable, weather-ready footwear. A detailed gear checklist is provided after registration. Photographers of all experience levels are welcome, and the atmosphere remains low key, encouraging, and community focused throughout.
