✨ Western Red Brewing Crushed Glass Art Party ✨

Create a sparkling piece of art at Western Red Brewing during a hands on crushed glass workshop facilitated by Deanna and Paul. Choose a design and size from a collection of laser cut wood frames when purchasing a ticket, then pick from a wide range of hand dyed crushed glass colors to craft a one of a kind piece. Finish your artwork with a clear, fume free sealant that gives a lasting shine. Each participant receives a frame in the chosen size, crushed glass in many colors, clear sealant, all necessary tools and materials, a suction cup for window hanging, and step by step guidance from the facilitators. Seating and materials are prepared according to the number of tickets purchased, so a ticket is needed for every person in the group. Every ticket covers one project. Pricing begins at $45 for a 6 inch mini project, with an upgrade option to a 12 inch standard project for $60. The upgrade changes only the size of a single project and does not add an additional frame. Most guests ages 8 and up can complete the project comfortably. Younger children are welcome at the discretion of their adults, and because real crushed glass is used there is a small chance of a minor poke or cut. Drinks and snacks are available for purchase from Western Red Brewing, and outside food is welcome. The venue is kid friendly, and guests under 18 may attend when accompanied by an adult.

The music unfolds in an intimate, refined room that serves food and cocktails, complemented by welcoming service and a relaxed vibe, with inventive regional artists highlighted week to week. Over four decades, Lewis has energized scenes from Seattle and San Francisco to Rotterdam and Paris, composing more than 1,800 works and earning recognition that includes a Cadence Magazine critics honor for Naked Animals and high placements in the Jazz Station Awards for The New York Session with George Cables, Essiet Essiet, and Victor Lewis. Friesen, born in Tacoma and based in Portland, has released more than 85 albums as a leader or co-leader, appeared on over 100 additional recordings, performs, teaches, and records, and tours widely. His collaborators span jazz luminaries such as Stan Getz, Dexter Gordon, and Dizzy Gillespie, and critics have praised the authority and originality of his playing.

Crushed Glass Art Party

Create a sparkling crushed glass artwork at Sisters' Cider House in a relaxed, creative setting. Choose your design and project size when purchasing a ticket, then use a wide selection of hand dyed glass to bring it to life. Each piece is finished with a clear, fume free sealer for lasting shine. All materials and tools are provided, including a laser cut wood frame and a window suction cup for displaying your finished work. Deanna and Paul offer step by step guidance throughout the session. Tickets are sold per person and include one project. Pricing starts at $45 for a 6 inch mini project, with an option to upgrade to a 12 inch standard size for $60. The upgrade only changes the size of a single project and does not add an extra frame. Please purchase a ticket for everyone in your group so seats and supplies can be prepared accordingly. Most participants age 8 and up can complete the project without difficulty. Younger children may participate at a guardian’s discretion. Because real crushed glass is used, there is a small chance of a tiny poke or minor cut. Ciders are available for purchase from the venue, and outside food is welcome. The venue is kid friendly, with guests under 18 welcome when accompanied by an adult. ✨ Wine About It! Crushed Glass Art Party ✨

Enjoy a relaxed, creative night at Wine About It while making a sparkling crushed glass artwork. Choose your design and project size at purchase, then layer hand dyed glass in your favorite colors and seal it with a clear, fume free finish for lasting shimmer. Deanna and Paul will provide friendly, step by step instruction from start to finish. Each ticket covers one project and comes with a laser cut wooden frame in the size you select, all tools and materials, a wide selection of glass colors, the clear sealant, and a suction cup for hanging your finished piece in a window. Seating and supplies are arranged based on the number of tickets purchased, so every guest in your group should have their own ticket. Pricing begins at $45 for a 6 inch mini project, with an optional upgrade to a 12 inch standard size for $60. The upgrade increases the size of a single project and does not add a second frame. This experience suits most makers ages 8 and up, and younger children may participate at an adult’s discretion. Because real glass is used, there is a small chance of a minor nick, though issues are uncommon. The venue is kid friendly and guests under 18 should attend with an adult. Casual photos may be taken for party albums, and anyone who prefers not to be photographed can inform the facilitators at the start. A variety of beverages, including non alcoholic options, and charcuterie are available for purchase from the venue. Cancellations with seven or more days notice receive a full refund, changes with at least eight hours notice receive Create and Sip credit, and no shows or late cancellations are not eligible for credit. May Salmonberry Books General Book Club

A monthly general book club meets in the Port Orchard Market to discuss the current pick, Glorious Exploits by Ferdia Lennon. Set in Sicily during the Peloponnesian War, the story follows two out-of-work potters, Lampo and Gelon, whose love of poetry draws them into a quarry holding Athenian prisoners. What begins as sharing food in exchange for lines from Euripides grows into an audacious plan to stage Medea, and the project soon carries real risks to lives, friendships, and loyalties. Told in a contemporary Irish voice, the novel explores how art endures in wartime and how connection can span deep divides. Content warnings include violence, slavery, death, war, injury and injury detail, grief, child death, sexual harassment, and rape. Copies purchased through Salmonberry Books are available at 15 percent off. The club’s aim is to help readers discover something new by reading across genres and styles, including both recent releases and backlist titles.

Strawberry Fields Forever: Picker Cabin Stories

A short film brings to life the Bainbridge Island strawberry and raspberry field culture through the childhood memories of Indipino, Filipino, and Japanese farm children who are now elders. It explores picker cabins and bunkhouses, how they came to be, who built and lived in them, and the meaning they carry today. Told from a child’s viewpoint, the stories remember First Nation families who traveled from Canada to harvest in summer, the Filipino manongs who stayed through the winter months, the relationships that grew across communities, and how these experiences shaped generations. The film features farms and families from the Anacleto Corpuz farm on New Brooklyn Road, the Oligario farm on Lynnwood Road, the Kitamoto farm on Battle Point Drive, the Koura farm on Koura Road, and the Rapada farm on New Brooklyn Road. After the screening, a discussion will include the Corpuz Sisters, Lily Kodama, Carol Kubota, DyAnne Koura, Joann Oligario, and Gilda Rapada. Filipino songs and dances will be shared, and free strawberry shortcake will be available.

✨ Western Red Brewing Crushed Glass Art Party ✨

Create a sparkling crushed glass artwork at Western Red Brewing in a relaxed, social setting. Facilitators Deanna and Paul guide participants as they pick a design and choose a project size from a selection of laser cut wood frames, arrange hand dyed crushed glass, and seal their piece with a clear, fume free finish for lasting shine. Each ticket covers one project and includes the frame, a wide range of glass colors, sealing solution, all tools, and a suction cup for window display, plus step by step instruction. The 6 inch mini project is $45, with an option to upgrade to a 12 inch standard project for $60. The upgrade increases the size of a single project and does not add an extra frame. Seating and materials are prepared according to the number of tickets, so every attendee needs an individual reservation. Most creators ages 8 and up can complete the project comfortably, while younger children may participate at an adult’s discretion. Because real crushed glass is used, there is a small chance of a tiny poke or minor cut. Food and beverages are available for purchase from Western Red Brewing, and outside snacks are allowed. The venue is kid friendly, with guests under 18 welcome when accompanied by an adult. SOLD OUT: Deeply Rooted: Artists’ Talk and Film Screening with George & David Lewis

Added in response to popular demand, this second artists’ talk and film screening features George and David Lewis, previously known as Little & Lewis, reflecting on their long collaboration in garden design, sculpture, and place-making. Presented as part of BIMA’s Handwork 2026 programming and in conjunction with Deeply Rooted, BIMA’s retrospective highlighting their years of art, love, and labor, the program offers an in-depth look at their practice. BIMA Chief Curator Greg Robinson moderates the conversation, which includes a screening of the PBS Canada program Recreating Eden that documents their creative journey and the garden environments that earned international recognition. The discussion follows their path from early days on Bainbridge Island in the 1990s to their role as artists within the community, touching on influences from ancient architecture, imaginative sculpture, and the expressive use of water and landscape. An audience Q and A and a reception will follow.

TENDER CITY: THE SLOW DANCE PROJECT Created by Kevin Jesuino

TENDER CITY: THE SLOW DANCE PROJECT, created by Kevin Jesuino, is a participatory performance paired with a video installation that invites queer men to share silent, consensual slow dances in public urban settings. It centers tenderness and male intimacy, while considering how spaces shaped by heteropatriarchal and capitalist design can be reclaimed. For participants, the practice offers a somatic way to make queer presence felt within the city’s rigid architecture, drawing on the discreet signals found in queer cruising. For those who witness it, the work opens a rare window into gentle expressions of masculinity.
