Concerts in the Woods: Brittany Jean 🎵

Concerts in the Woods features folk singer and songwriter Brittany Jean in a set filled with songs and storytelling. Her repertoire paints scenes from sunflower fields and Ireland’s shores to themes of free spirits and a tucked-away cabin up north, with love threading through every tune. Based in a small apple town along Washington’s Columbia River, she has performed at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville and opened for Three Dog Night’s sold-out concert in New York City. She has released six studio albums and an EP, all recorded in Music City, and from her sixth album, Colors & Covers, the songs Golden Hour, Lightfoot, and Dear Mr. Green were finalists in the International Acoustic Music Awards. As part of BIMA’s PRISM program, Robin Little Wing Sigo (Suquamish/Duwamish), co-curator of the Indigenous Craft exhibition, leads a conversation with Suquamish Tribal Members focused on Coast Salish fashion. Drawing on images from the past and present to reflect on what they suggest about the future, the discussion centers on Indigenous futurism along with the ancestral currents of energy, politics, and style. It also explores the dialogue between craft and art, contrasts Coast Salish art with formline traditions, and considers how time, labor, and cultural knowledge shape the value of craft. An audience Q&A and a festive reception follow. Presented within The Abundance of Salalberries pədt’aqa, a celebration of the Suquamish Tribe. A BIMA PRISM program, The Abundance of Salalberries pədt’aqa is a lively, museum-wide celebration that honors the Suquamish Tribe through art, fashion, and living cultural practice. Open to everyone, the day begins with an opening blessing featuring song and dance, welcoming visitors into a full slate of activities. Two curator-led tours of the Indigenous Craft exhibition with Robin Little Wing Sigo (Suquamish/Duwamish), co-curator of the exhibition, highlight Indigenous fashion on view and trace the history and evolution of fashion, jewelry, and craft. Throughout the museum, guests can experience beadwork demonstrations by three artists, try Lushootseed letterpress printmaking, explore an Indigenous fashion zine, view the video Sovereign Style on a continuous loop in the auditorium, and take part in an interactive weaving station with BIMA’s Learning and Engagement team in the Orientation Gallery. A curated conversation, Suquamish Style: Past, Present, & Futurism, facilitated by Robin Little Wing Sigo and featuring Suquamish Tribal Members, invites dialogue about Coast Salish fashion with historical and contemporary images and what they suggest about the future. A ticket is required for this panel, and an audience Q&A follows with themes that include craft versus art, Coast Salish art in relation to formline traditions, and the value of craft in time, labor, and cultural knowledge. The gathering concludes with a festive reception that fosters community connection and celebration. September 11th Ceremony Vessel Flotilla Evergreen Park Bremerton WA

Maritime vessels are called to gather for the 25th Remembrance Ceremony at the Kitsap 9/11 Memorial in Bremerton. This on-water observance pays tribute to the spontaneous boat flotilla that aided rescue efforts in New York. Vessels will assemble on Port Washington Narrows near the Evergreen Rotary Park boat launch, between the Manette and Warren Ave bridges, and a speaker system will project the ceremony toward the water so those aboard can listen.

✨ Eleven Winery Crushed Glass Art Party ✨

Create a sparkling piece of art at Eleven Winery with guidance from facilitators Deanna and Paul. Participants choose a design during checkout, then build a layered work using crushed glass, shimmer, and dimensional accents with step by step instruction, so no prior experience is required. All materials are provided, including the frame, crushed glass, the signature Potion, and embellishments. Tickets are purchased per person, and each ticket corresponds to one project. Two project sizes are available: a 6 inch mini for $45 that makes a fun, giftable piece, and a 12 inch standard for $60 that offers extra room to create. For example, buying three tickets means selecting three projects. Most guests age 8 and older do well. Younger children may attend at an adult’s discretion, keeping in mind that real crushed glass is used. Photos are taken for party albums, and guests can opt out by letting the team know.

A monthly meeting takes place at The Refuge Church daycare. Please use the entrance at the back. The agenda includes organizational business, announcements, show and tell, and a featured program. Programs usually run 30 to 45 minutes and explore lapidary subjects, jewelry-making techniques, or other facets of rockhounding and mineral collecting. Occasional juniors programs are offered. The curriculum covers project assessment and planning, proper cleaning and prep, paint application, color layering and blending, decorative effects, distressing and aging, sealing with waxes and protective finishes, design basics for a cohesive look, troubleshooting, and practical tips for sourcing future projects. Designed for beginner to intermediate skill levels, this immersive format emphasizes hands on practice and personalized coaching to build confidence and consistency. Sustainable Menstrual Kit Community Sew-In

A community sew in in the Poulsbo Lutheran Church Community Room in the basement welcomes volunteers of all ages, and no sewing experience is needed. Participants will help cut, stitch, and assemble sustainable menstrual health kits that support girls, women, and other menstruators in Kitsap County and in communities around the world. Snacks are provided, and bringing a sack lunch is optional. Volunteers from Kitsap, Bremerton, Silverdale, and Poulsbo are encouraged to take part. This effort aligns with the work of Days for Girls Poulsbo, part of a global movement focused on menstrual equity, health, dignity, and opportunity for all. The local chapter has distributed more than 7,000 kits in partnership with organizations such as Fishline Food Bank, Central Kitsap Food Bank, Bremerton Foodline, Etta Projects, and Lisa Stirrett’s Creative Warrior Studio. The Books Remain

The Books Remain is a Banned Books Week gathering at Quincy Square in Bremerton. Marking the final day of the observance, it brings together authors, advocacy organizations, and the community for readings, conversations, and a public celebration of the freedom to read. G. Willow Wilson will appear as a featured speaker. Wilson wrote Ms. Marvel from February 2014 to February 2019, with the first volume winning the 2015 Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story. She has been the writer of the ongoing Poison Ivy series for DC Comics since June 2022. Her original series include Invisible Kingdom from 2019 to 2021 with Dark Horse Comics, which won the 2020 Eisner Award for Best New Series, and The Hunger and the Dusk from 2023 to 2026 with IDW Publishing, a finalist for the 2025 Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story or Comic.
