Citizen Science: Earth Day Animal Spot-A-Thon — Nurturing Nature
Celebrate Earth Day by becoming a wildlife scientist for a day. With guidance from scientists, participants will catalog trail-camera photos from Snapshot Wisconsin, identifying animals and noting their behaviors. Each image tagged contributes to research, wildlife tracking, and conservation efforts. It takes place in The Community Room, Adult Services, 2nd Floor. Open to adults, teens, and tweens. No registration required. This coincides with Citizen Science Month, which highlights a goal of 2.5 million Acts of Science. Those interested in logging more trail-camera photos can create a free account through SciStarter. For more nature-themed programs, use the "Garden & Home" calendar filter.
Racine Public LibraryPinot's Poppin Poppies
Explore a new painting technique while creating a colorful poppy-inspired canvas in a relaxed, public paint class. A full-service bar offers alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for purchase, and outside beverages are not allowed. Snacks may be brought. Because each class is customized, refunds are not available. Reservations can be moved to a future session if arranged by phone at least 48 hours in advance and used within 30 days at 262-945-6519. If fewer than five guests are registered by noon on the day, the class may be cancelled and participants will be contacted to reschedule. Guests arriving more than 15 minutes after the start may still paint but will need to catch up on their own. If running late, call 262-945-6519. Groups booking separately can ensure they sit together by listing all names in the seating request section when reserving, otherwise seating at the same table is not guaranteed.
