His connection to Petty’s world includes recording his album Siren Songs at Johnny Cash’s Cash Cabin, the same studio where Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers backed Cash on the Grammy-winning album Unchained. He has also released thoughtful interpretations of Free Fallin’ and Walls, underscoring his deep respect for this catalog.

Rooted in Milwaukee’s gritty, thriving music scene since 1988, The Gufs grew from a college dorm room to a basement and a garage as their songs took shape, eventually landing a first gig at The Unicorn, a legendary local rock club. The lineup featured Morgan Dawley on guitar, Dejan Kralj on bass, Goran Kralj on vocals, piano, and guitar, and Scott Schwebel on drums, later joined by Brian Pettit on percussion. For this performance, Goran and Morgan bring a duo set to The Bend Theater, with guest Zach Steinbach opening the show.

He also captured the largest cash prize given to a tribute performer at the Tribute to the King competition, totaling $55,000. Throughout his career he has shared billing with Chubby Checker, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, The Nelson Twins, the Bellamy Brothers, TG Shepard, Gary Morris, Juice Newton, and others.
