Author/Filmmaker Christopher Micklos Book Signing

Fond du Lac native Christopher Micklos visits Chapter 52 Bookstore to mark the first anniversary of his debut novel, TICK TOWN. Guests can meet the author and pick up signed copies of TICK TOWN, and he will also have the Wisconsin-set anthology A WISCONSIN HARVEST OF HORROR, which features his pulp horror story "Hell Bugs." TICK TOWN races through a small northern Wisconsin tourist town as giant mutant ticks turn it into their feeding ground, blending a love for mid-century big-bug films with the spirit of 70s and 80s pulp horror paperbacks and comics. The novel has drawn praise from leading voices in the genre, with Shaun Hutson calling it a standout throwback to the golden age of pulp horror and Ramsey Campbell noting its gruesome giant-bug mayhem in the Guy N. Smith tradition. Micklos is an award-winning filmmaker and a frequently published writer of horror-themed fiction and non-fiction. He grew up in Fond du Lac, graduated from Goodrich High School in the class of 1988, and now lives in Madison, Wisconsin.

FDLRC Summer Track Workouts

Free weekly track workouts run throughout the summer at Cardinal Stadium. Hosted by a running club and open to everyone, including nonmembers, these sessions welcome all ages and ability levels. The track typically opens early for those who want extra warmup time. Each gathering starts with short announcements and an overview of the plan, followed by about three miles of interval running on the track. The workout changes each week and often features repeats from 100 meters up to 1600 meters, with most sets in the 400 to 1600 meter range. Two informal pace groups usually form to match recovery needs. Participants are encouraged to go at a comfortable effort, and completing the full distance is not required. Expect a friendly crowd of roughly 15 to 30 people. Restrooms and ample parking are available. Bring your own water and snacks, dress for the weather, and consider packing dry clothes. If conditions look poor, a club representative will still be present, but participants should use their best judgment. First-time attendees will be asked to sign a season-long waiver.

Connecting Within; Receiving Guidance From Your Guides and Higher Self

At The Twisted Warrior Yoga Studio, a guided sound vision quest offers a gentle way to connect with your Higher Self and Spirit Guides. The session welcomes both long-time practitioners and those just beginning, emphasizing that guidance is already within and becomes easier to access when you slow down and listen. This two hour experience starts with a grounded conversation about how relating to your Spirit Team and inner wisdom can bring clarity to decisions and support a steadier everyday life. You will explore simple, approachable practices that make this connection feel natural rather than confusing. Elaine then leads a calming breath practice with a crystal pyramid to settle the mind and body, followed by a 25 minute sound journey. J.D. offers voice guidance as Elaine harmonizes crystal singing bowls, creating a supportive atmosphere for ease of receiving and creative flow. An optional group share invites participants to speak about what arose, helping to anchor and validate the experience. The facilitators are Elaine Elizabeth, a Sound MediZen practitioner, author, and holistic healing facilitator whose heart-focused approach uses sound, felt experience, and intuitive insight to help people soften survival patterns, quiet the mind, and trust their own guidance, and J.D. Radewan, a spiritual teacher, speaker, and author who has led classes and ceremonies across the United States, blending grounded spirituality with practical integration. He is the author of Phoenix Crashing and co-creator of Sacred Profits, supporting spiritual practitioners in growing their work while staying clear and centered.
